C & H The Sweep Ltd

I had the C&H the sweep come to do our annual chimney cleaning and while they were on site had them check out the chimney which was leaking around where it met the roof. Cliff did up a nice estimate well broken down and went through the areas he thought needed attention and how he'd fix everything up. We had a couple of other quotes before this and C&H was reasonable and fair so decided to give them the job.

They removed 3 layers at the top, formed it out (4" overhang so water won't run down the sides) and added two new caps. They also cleaned, re-pointed and sealed the chimney. I removed one star because in the quote we were supposed to have a "rain diverter" installed that ended up being "two strips of kindling screwed on to my shingles" from my wood shed. This was obviously not very aesthetically pleasing but I also was told to never screw into the shingles unless "absolutely necessary". I contacted my roofer who advised me to correct this to prevent a future leak at the screws which I had done (shingles were removed and replaced a piece of metal flashing added nailed "under" the shingles).

A lot of people would end up giving them a poor review for this type of issue but other than that, the job was well done, it looks great and I don't have a leak anymore so an 8/10 it is. They also did the honourable thing and deducted the cost of fixing their screw up off the final bill.

I'll have them come out annually to do my cleaning from this point forward and would probably recommend them with a note to have every detail in the quote as to the job and the type "materials" being used.
