Tropic Air

I have used Tropic Air for a few things now and also get them to service my boiler. Loren and his staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and do really good work. They care about the quality of their work and will happily explain things when you ask. They were also happy to tell me when work isn't necessary even though they could have tried to upsell me. I definitely trust them to give me honest assessments of what I need to fix and what I don't.

Office staff very knowledgeable and professional And answered all my questions. Workers arrived and protected everything around the work area and also put blankets down to protect my floors and wore Boot coverings over outdoor boots when they entered the house They were very efficient and professional wore mask at all times They were in-and-out in a very quick and professional manner and I've had 0 problems I would recommend tropic air to any of my friends and family

Loren came to the rescue when the furnace in my condo unit broke down. He took the time to explain the issue, sourced for the part and completed the repair quickly. I am very impressed by his politeness, patience, caring attitude and professionalism. It is an extremely pleasant experience dealing with Tropic Air!

Loren went above and beyond for us - he's our go-to guy. He's done our duct work, water heater and added a humidifier to our furnace. Don't trust anyone else!

Company was recommended by several tenants in our condo building. Our boiler system is atypical and has challenged the Enercare team. Tropic Air was responsive, professional and most importantly, able to help. Will definitely use them again if needed.

Loren recently replaced our water heater and he is our go-to expert for anything HVAC-related. Great, friendly service and very professional.

We got a new boiler 2 years ago from another company that cost us a bazillion dollars! Part of the package is that the other company is supposed to service the boiler if we have any issues. For 2 years, our house has not been able to heat up past 16 degrees in the winter. We had several service providers come from the other company to take a look, and all said there were no issues. We ended up attributing it to having faulty windows, as no one could find anything wrong with the boiler.

Fast forward to this summer, we met Loren when he was recommended to us to install a new air conditioner (which he did for half the price we were quoted by several other companies). We so enjoyed his professionalism, reliability, speed, and friendliness, that we were sad when the AC was installed because it meant he wasn't coming over again! ;)

THEN we called the other company who installed our boiler again this year to take a look at it. They told us that it was not a boiler issue, but something wrong with our handler. I called Loren after having had such a great experience with him in the summer. He took a look at the handler and said that wasn't the issue, and then spent 4 hours at our place looking at the boiler trying to figure out what was wrong with it. He stayed past 7pm because he didn't want us to be cold! He went through the entire handbook, and finally was able to figure out that the other company had configured the "dip switches" upside town (copying the handbook configuration bottom to top instead of top to bottom).

This was *not* what we had called him over to do, but he cared so much about figuring out what was wrong because he values his clients so much. I was so blown away by his kindness and professionalism, and the reasonable price of his services at all times.

Angela was my first point of contact and she was very pleasant to deal with, prompt in her responses and extremely helpful in coordinating the services required. Loren worked on my unit and he was very knowledgeable and able to swiftly diagnosis the issue and pinpoint the root cause of my system/unit's problems. Notably, he is not like most technicians that are myopic and one-dimensional in their ability to solve problems. Loren has a solid process, effective method and holistic approach to the scope of work required for the project/task at hand. If Loren is representative of how everyone at Tropic Air works, then no matter your issue, it will get resolved as efficiently as possible. Above all, the work was completed in a timely and reasonably affordable manner.

I was very happy with the service I was provided. Lorne came the next morning after calling to say I needed our AC repaired. I was told on the phone that a service call would cost $135.00 and then the hourly rate was $135.00. Based on what I described, he said that he didn’t think it would take longer than an hour to fix. I had called several other places that quoted me less (some considerably less) but because I had a tenant self isolating in the basement apt I couldn’t book anything for a week. I figured the extra $20-50 would be worth it to have it repaired quickly. And then I got the bill... I was charged a total of $305 for what was essentially 5mins worth of work. I cannot understand how they can justify charging that much money for the job that was done!
I called and spoke with the office administrator and was told that is what they typically charge for a “diagnostic plus a service call” so it was not $135 like I was told on the phone it was $135+ $135 , so 270 plus tax !!! He had the unit fixed before I even returned from turning it back on. It was some debris blocking the water from draining properly and he used a pressure tool to blow it out.
I was happy it was fixed and Lorne was a lovely person BUT had I known that the minimum I would be paying was $270 I never have booked with them. I easily could have waited a week to save a few hundred dollars. It was not clear at the outset that I would have to pay that much. I’m disappointed and would recommend asking detailed questions before letting them do any service for you.
