10/10

We hired Sonoma/Mike on referral from the company we used to underpin our basement. This worked really well because both companies communicated throughout the process. I talked to tons of contractors and got a lot of quotes for this project. Our stairs needed to be rebuilt and I wanted to tear out a wall and closet on the main level as well. A lot of contractors didn't understand how the stairs could be rebuilt given the tight space, but Mike said we could get a much better staircase in there. Other contractors also said we'd have to rip up all the main floor in the hallway/kitchen to tear out the wall and closet, but Mike made it work without having to do that. In the end we have a nice open hallway with amazing new stairs/railings, a new side door, new basement windows, a tankless water heater, much improved electrical including a new panel, and a beautiful functional basement. The project took a little longer than planned, but we are very happy with the finished project.

We hired True North after hearing about others in the neighbourhood having a positive experience with them. Dan is very knowledgeable and responsive. The crew were here every day and the project went fairly quickly considering the amount of work done. Our basement basically fluctuated in height - anywhere from just over 6 feet to 6'6. With the underpinning it's now 8 feet. We also had two steel beams replaced, our utility room made considerably smaller, heated floors added, water meter moved, lead line to the house replaced, and sump pump and sewage ejector added.
