washing machine repair

My washing machine drum stopped spinning and after research, I personnaly bought the part needed. Steve came on short notice which was great. The part was correct and Steve installed it and the spin cycle worked. A couple of hours later I ran a full load of laundry and my floor was completely flooded. Steve came out the next day and by phone told me everything was ok and to call a plumber. This is where the miscommunication came in. After 12 years of everything working fine, then after a repair, everything went wrong I started to ask questions that I needed to ask to eliminate other possibilities. I think I would have been ignornant not to ask questions. I felt he got defensive with me questioning his expertise. Regardless in the end I did call a plumber. More $$$. Although they did have to snake out the actual drain hose from the washing machine the main problem does appear to be with the plumbing. The plumber, who was great, really explained the possibilites clearly and although we still don't have an absolute clear understanding of where the problem is (appears to be a grading issue and wrong connection right now as the snaking of 20 feet was clear)I will be moving forward with the plumber. I want to apologize to Steve but also ask him to please understand that the coincidence of never having a plumbing issue in 12 years, to a repair job, then a major problem it was my right to question and explore other possibilities of his work. Now I'm just upset that I forgot to get Steve to help with my dishwasher! I hope this clears up some misunderstandings.

Company Response

Wow, my first bad review!

I always test product after a repair and always advise customers to watch repaired product closely for the first couple of loads, trouble can occur at anytime, especially after an older machine is serviced. When advised of her problems I returned the following day to double check the repair and see what went wrong. I disassembled the machine but could find no problems with leaking, upon further testing I found a laundry drain system that was backing up when the machine was used on a full water level setting. I advised Linda over the phone of this problem and showed her son where the drain was backing up. I suggested that a plumber would be required to correct the problem. There was no charge for the return visit or for the time disassembling and testing the machine and laundry drains. I thought I had done the right thing under the circumstances...

Then I read this review...

I called Linda back right away to discuss her problem. I explained that the problem was not with the washer but with her plumbing system. The drain backs up and overflows when the washer is set to the maximum water setting. Over time lint and dirt can accumulate in laundry drains causing them to back up. I asked Linda to try the washer while watching the drain to verify for herself that this is the problem. I have recommended a local plumber who should be able to correct her problem. Linda is willing to print a retraction if the problem turns out to be what I suggested it was in the first place.

I always try to do my best, and I admit to my own mistakes when I make them.

Thank you all for your support and reviews.

Regards,

Steve Brannan

washing machine repair

Sadly for the first time I have to leave a bad review. My stackable washing machine drum wasn't spinning. I knew what part it needed and went and bought the part myself. Steve came out very quickly which impressed me. That is where the good part ends. He installed the part and the drum spun. Later that night I did a load of laundry and my floor flooded. I called Steve the next day and he came out the again. He told my son to "not do a full load" ... What! That is unacceptable! I got on the phone with him as | was at work and explained that the water was coming from under the machine. He said it was coming from the drain and said "are you arguing with me". I said no, I was simply stating that the water is not coming from where he thinks it is. He then told me to just call a plumber! In desperation I even tried to do a small load. It still flooded. The whole laundry room was flooded, which then went through the drywall into the basement kitchen and raised the floor in the kitchen. So now I have a washing machine that doesn't work. Drywall that needs replacing...and part of a new floor has to be replaced!!!! A small job turned into HUGE $$$$$!
