Clarke Basement Systems

When starting a basement reno, we found wet basement walls on every side of the 60 year old house. With neighbour's driveways too close to allow for an outside dig, we chose Clarke Basement Systems to do the interior drainage system with sump pump. The work was done quickly and neatly, professionally, and has worked like a charm. We now have a beautiful, dry basement. We smile everytime the sump pump kicks in - sometimes every hour when it's been raining for awhile. We're so pleased we chose this company, and with their work.

Over the past year, I've used Rob from Clarke Basement Systems twice, to fix two separate problems with my basement walls. In both cases, I found Rob and the staff from Clarke to be professional, courteous, and very diligent in their work. Rob did an excellent job of diagnosing the problems, recommending solutions, and then effecting the necessary repairs in a timely fashion. I have already recommended Rob and Clarke Basement Systems to a friend, and I know that she too was very impressed and satisfied with the service.

i got six other quotes if you can call them quotes a scribble on a card or a scrap of paper isn't a detailed quote Roy sat down explained everything in detail in black and white and how the mould wasn't mold (it was salts) and my family wouldn't die by the end of the week and one of the other water proofers said my house was going to be swallowed up by the earth if i didn't get them to fix my basement
roy told me what was wrong and explained it in simple terms there was no smoke and mirrors i asked him what hed do if it was his home and he looked me in the eye said the same thing
It took them a little longer to get here some of the other quotes wanted to come and work tomorrow (scary they must be slow for a reason) as I guess with good companies they are busy. But they always answered the phone, followed up with additional info to my concerns, and called in advance to remind me of there coming to so the work in a few days. It was definitely worth the wait. There was nothing hidden. There contract is detailed, the way a contract should be. I knew what I was responsible to do, and so did they. I only wish I'd hired them in the first house I owned!
if they did other kinds of work not just water proofing id hire them for all my home renos as a single woman with two children
its hard to choose who to hire but hire this company above all others they are honest

I dealt with Clarke Basements to resolve a musty basement. I was very satisfied with the profesionism of Emilio the advisor. He recommended a SaniDry and also went out of his way to advise me on insulation and other tips to keep my basement dry free of charge.

I found this company on the online yellow pages. I had also had one other company in to give me a quote on some work in the basement and crawlspace.

The other company wanted to tare up a one foot section all around the base (interior) of my finished basement. Roy from Clarke informed me that that would be quite dangerous as my basement did not have an actual footing and the block walls sat on my cement slab floor. Meaning if you tore up the edge of the florr, the walls would essentially be drifting on broken pieces of concrete.

The area the other cmpany planned on putting my sumppump was also wrong. They never used a lazer level, and when Roy checked it out, it turned out they were going to put the pump and hole at the highest point of the basement floor. Hard for water to run up hill.

Upon some more investigation Roy determined that I really didn't need to deal with that extensive of a job. He found that the finished part of the basement was fine and the couple tiny problems were ones I could take care of myself.

From there we focused on the crawlspace. We determined that that was the only area of actual concern. From there he informed me of the products and service to seal that area up with the membrane system. The explanations and quotes were easily understood.

I decided on the spot that I would work with this company. The crews showed almost right when they said they would and got right to work. I was surprised at the work they could do in some very tight areas. The job did take a little longer than was expected (nothing to be concerned over when looking at the scope and situations). When the work was done I was very happy with what they had done and have no complaints. They were very good in explaining what I should watch for and have the insulation crews do when they were to come and spray insulation into the crawlspace (see my other review about Georgian Insulation Systems).

This company was great to deal with throughout the entire process. They saved the structural integrity of my home, by actually knowing the different types of foundations, they saved my thousands of dollars by informing me of what I REALLY needed to have done, and they greatly improved the air quality in my home.

Nothing but satisfied with this company and I would highly recommend them.

I had Clarke Basement Systems come into my home to fix a tricky crack in my foundation. It was located in a difficult spot so real expertise was needed. They took great care in not damaging my wall and worked in a very tight and cramped location. In the past I'd had other companies come in to try to fix the crack, but only Clark was able to do the job properly and to my satisfaction. It's been over a month and my basement is completey dry. Clarke did what others failed to do, I have no reservations about recommending their company.

I had initially contacted 6 different companies for quotes - for a leaky basement wall. Two of these didn't even bother to call me back. From the initial point of contact (I did have to wait a few weeks for an appointment), the service was SUPERB! I got marketing info. in the mail, which led me to think that these guys would be the most expensive. Sammy was great for any questions I had, the communication by mail by Clarke was impressive. Well, their quote was the cheapest - Sammy got me the information I needed for the City Rebate Programme as well! I got a letter that allowed me to let them know beforehand what my concerns were, what they need to know about parking, the house etc. And then when Jose and Andrew showed up, they were professional, tidy, considerate AND Sammy also showed up. I've had work on the house done by other people and it was like I was dealing with two different companies - the sales and then the service. Not so here! They made sure I got what information I needed, warranty sent - correction to invoice - all done professionally in a timely fashion. Then, last week, I had someone fixing a fan in my basement and there must have been some water that leaked. The sub-pump alarm went off and I called Clarke Basement Systems and they said "We'll send someone right out". Luckily it wasn't a flood so I cancelled the call. But this morning, I had a voicemail from Clarke wanting to follow up and make sure that everything was okay. If only all other companies were this great!!

They sold me a waterproofing job to book for the spring, saying it was necessary to do, so I paid a deposit. The spring came, no leakage, so I tried to cancel. They tried to convince me to go through with the job but it was proving to be increasingly unnecessary (I am writing this one year later with no leak having happened since!). Instead of refunding my money for selling me an unnecessary service, they charged me a cancellation fee as well as a missed appointment fee, neither of which had been discussed ahead of time. The owner was RUDE RUDE RUDE. Unconscionable business that should be avoided. I am quite shocked by the whole experience. What began as a pleasant, seemingly reasonable business transaction turned ugly for no reason. Hardly a way to treat a "valued" customer.

I selected Clarke Basement Systems after doing a search on Homestars. Their service was fantastic and their crew very polite and service oriented. The owner even came to my home himself to finish off the project.
