eavestroughs; baseement window

I hired Juff's because of all the ads I have seen in the area over the 35 years that I lived in my house - they were high profile. I got two quotes and went with Juff's because the salesman, Scott, seemed professional and seemed to know what he was doing. There was a point of contention and I acquiesced to his 'expertise' - my home initially had 2 downspouts that weren't as efficient as they could have been, so I had 3 more installed. When Juff's came out, I asked that the existing downspouts remain or get replaced when they did the eaves-trough. Scott said that wasn't necessary and that I only need two for the square footage of my roof as per the city requirements. So it was done as Scott suggested but he left me the downspouts they removed. In the spring following the fall installation, in a dense downpour the water was teeming over my eaves-trough....the ceiling in the sw corner of my house was dripping with condensation. I called Juff's, they came out and insisted that they did the right thing and that my eaves-trough was full of leaves. NOT! because I have them cleaned every year. Later in the summer, still within the year of installation, I had another issue with water down pouring. I ended up having another company come and install downspouts where Juff's had removed them. Even though Juff's installed my eaves, in some areas, to an unnatural slope, the re-installation (at my cost of $550.) of the downspouts prevented any further problems with water flowing over the eaves-trough or water on my bedroom ceiling. The only time I had a problem with the rain and water was that year that Juff's insisted that the extra downspouts were not needed. I concede that maybe Scott was giving me what 'code' was.....but 'code' was not good for my particular house!
The other problem I had with Juff's was that the basement window that took considerable time for me to choose and pay for was not the window that arrived that cold dark night they planned to install it. After several months, the installer finally came, removed the incumbent window and then proceeded to unwrap the window that I bought - only to discover that he brought the wrong window. I couldn't leave a window without glass for who-knows-how-long in the dead of winter, so for a small discount the wrong window was installed.

Now I need a new roof and so does my neighbour. Guess what - Juff's just lost an easy $8,500.00 worth of business plus any recommendations that might have come from it. Also, the advertising by placing signs on our lawns which happen to be on a semi - main street with tons of traffic.

Approximate cost of services:
$4,000.00
