Kitchen Renovation

Weve wanted to get our kitchen renovated for many years, but were very apprehensive about hiring contractors because of shoddy work that we have had done in the past. We started asking for references from our friends and acquaintances and got several rave reviews for Monaco Interiors. We arranged for an initial consultation and our renovation adventure began.

Right from our first meeting we felt very comfortable with Revi, the head designer. We walked through the house with her and discussed our dreams for the new kitchen and hallway. She, in turn, had a number of questions concerning our taste, timeline and budget. Within a few weeks she sent us some 3d renders of her initial ideas and we were able to begin the back and forth flow of ideas that led to the plans being finalized. We had never worked with a designer before and it was a very positive experience, as Revi led us through the many creative decisions about colour, tiles, and flooring, as well as practical ones about wiring, plumbing and venting. We really came to appreciate that we didnt have to run all over Toronto researching everything ourselves.

The fact that the planning and construction were carried out by the same company was a blessing. There was only one place to go with any questions or issues that might arise, and Revi, and her husband Steven, the contractor, took full responsibility for the small number of problems that arose.

We were a little concerned that ours was a fairly small job for Monaco, but we never felt that we were given anything less than their full attention. The team of tradespeople that they sent to our house were always professional, courteous, affable, and eager to deal with any issues that we might have about the project. All of our questions were answered and accommodations made when we decided to alter the plan a bit. We were particularly impressed by the mason who put a new window into the side of our house. He used the original bricks that he took out of the wall and used them to fill in an old window which was being eliminated. When he was finished the changes looked virtually impossible to see.

One of the things that we really appreciated about the project was the fact that they always chose materials and fixtures that they knew were available. There were still a lot of supply issues due to Covid and we heard horror stories from friends about waiting 6 months for a range hood. The only supply issue that we had was outside of their control, the making of a custom window that took a bit longer than originally promised. Revi even made sure that the company supplying the appliances had everything in stock for a timely delivery.

Andrey the cabinetmaker was a delight to have around the house during the installation phase. Not only did he make all of the kitchen cabinetry, but he also created a new closet and stereo stand for the hallway. He was absolutely meticulous and his attention to detail, right down to the finishing touches, was inspiring. At the end of the project we had several days of walk-throughs with Steven where every facet of the job was checked and approved by us before we signed off on the contract.

Were absolutely delighted with our new kitchen and would thoroughly recommend Monaco Interiors for any project that you might be planning.
