Moving

We hired Nortown because they promised as a hassle free move. They were anything but. It took 3 men 8 hours to move not even a quarter of hour furniture from our condo. It got so bad We had to call another moving company last minute to get the rest of our things. The workers were so slow and banged up all my furniture. We got to the point where we told them just to unload in our garage and get the heck out we were so fed up. They were very rude and cost us double of what we were told it was going to cost and they still didnt move our things. When I called the manager Chris, to complain the next day, it took him 3 weeks to return my call. He said something would be done and now 2 months later i'm still waiting for a call.
THE MOST HORRIBLE COMPANY EVER DELT WITH. DON'T USE THESE GUYS!!!

Approximate cost of services:
$1,300.00
What could this company do to improve their services?
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?

Company Response

Terrible Lies. We gave her an hourly rate over the phone for 3 men. It is impossible to give a firm price without visual inspection of the job involved. She was never given a price. She had a full 3 bedroom apartment and a 10x25 ft. storage unit (which normally accommodates a 3 bedroom home). This would require an additional truck and more men but she refused.

In addition the pick-up time was 12noon and in late November it is dark by 5:30p.m. I am aware that any move is a traumatic experience and a person's belongings are most precious but for her it was more than life itself. As a pregnant woman who was due any day, she was hyper plus and constantly harangued, abused and denigrated our men from the beginning. She also had them remove their shoes each time they brought anything in. Who can work effriciently and quickly under that ongoing attitude, nastiness and constant pressure? the days or slavery are over and our men did their best to remain civil.

Her husband apologized many times to our men for his wife's behaviour. I did call and spoke to Marlene, reasoned with her and offered to compensate her towards her move but she wasn't looking for monetary compensation. This is a bitter, rage-filled individual who does not see another person's point of view. We tried our best to be honest and straightforward in our dealings with her to no avail.

We all hope she is well and really bless her husband for his consideration and thoughtfulness.
