Wood flooring Installation

My experience with Three towers was a disaster. Right from the beginning when i wanted to give John a sample of the floor i wanted to match which they didn't to the very end with the installation. i was promised a 2 week delivery time which they were late. I had to personally call the delivery company to make arrangements for the delivery. The installers were very careless making a mess and not taking care to limit the dust in the house. the installers damaged my walls and baseboard and made no effort to clean or fix the problems telling me I could easily fix the damages. i would strongly recommend not using Three Towers for your flooring needs.

Company Response

Phil, lets be fair, the delivery was delayed only because of your lack of co-operation. You work in Scarborough but your house is in Brampton, and nobody was home to accept delivery. You asked us to call you exactly when the driver was picking up the material so that you could leave Scarborough and drive to your house without missing work, and we gave you the drivers number to contact him directly. On top of that you argued with the driver because he would not deliver on the second floor, and you knew that deliveries are on main floor only. Please keep in mind that we do about 10 deliveries a day spanning from Hamilton to Oshawa, and we need someone to be at the home in order to deliver. I realize it's difficult for someone to miss work, but how else is the delivery to take place?

Your floor was installed about 3 weeks to the day you ordered it, the install was scheduled around the same time you ordered the material and we installed it on schedule, it would have been delivered sooner if someone was home to accept delivery as we can't just leave the flooring in your driveway.

Regarding the color you and I both know that Brazilian Cherry/ jatoba darkens with age as it oxidizes. The sample of jatoba that you have might be a year or 2 old and is fully oxidized and there for much darker than the wood as it first comes out of the box. So the wood you have will definitely get darker with time. The stain is the exact same as the sample, and was finished in the same factory as your sample. The difference is the your wood is not yet oxidized and your sample is. This is a complaint that we get a couple of times a year, when the jatoba sample that the customer has is darker than the new wood arriving, and that is because the new wood hasn't oxidized to the extent of the old one. In our showroom we go to a great extent to show old jatoba samples and new ones, so that people will see that jatoba gets darker as it ages. This is the nature of the wood, it darkens as it ages.

Finally installing hardwood is going to be a bit dusty no matter who does it. This is a common complaint and unfortunately it comes with the territory. If we install on main floor we cut outside. On the second floor we choose one room to cut(usually the smallest bedroom) unless you have a balcony on second floor. In rare occasions when people have asthma or some kind of ilness, we will make an exception but we charge more money and it is going to take nearly twice as long to do the job. The installer said that they swept and vaccumed the floor before they left your home Phil. Not many installers do that.

Finally we don't ask for payment until the job is done. This is your best guarantee that you will be satisfied. So its a Monday morning and your job was complete this past Friday, we haven't recieved a phone call or email or anything from you and you paid the installer directly on Friday night when the job was complete, I just phoned the installer and he said the damage you claim was in the closet and that you were happy and paid him in full at the end of the job.

If there is a problem we will fix it, and if Tony knicked your walls during the install(it happens to the best of us)you shouldn't have paid him or at least held back $100 or $150 until we come back to fix it. Please understand we install between 10,000 to 15,000 square feet a week, no one is perfect and we do not expect to be paid unless you are happy with the job, and you paid without us even asking!

We put safeguards in place to protect the customer for situations just like yours, but if you don't call us how can we help you or even know there is an issue?. We can't please everyone but its hard to please if you don't say anything to us. The exact same thing could have happened to 100 other customers and 99 out of 100 would give us a 9 or a 10. I will contact you shortly to discuss, as I'd like to see the job in person.
