Thanks so much for the review!
We are truly sorry that Leanne feels this way and has not contacted us to discuss especially since the equipment was installed in 2008 and we have performed additional -non- related work since then. We have thoroughly reviewed the file and the process was handled properly and by industry standards. The main issue was the electrical hookup which was performed improperly by her electrician . This was immediately conveyed to her and it was further stated that we are unable to tell her electrician what to do as we are not licensed electricians. As soon as this was corrected we programmed and set it up properly. All the equipment was operating properly and we re-visited several times to teach her how to operate the system. Prior to her purchasing the system everything was explained in full. We invite her to contact us at any time if she wishes.
We are sorry that Ron feels this way but we sold him the only standard ladders available in the industry currently. Ladders are designed to have the top tread above the water for safety reasons currently and were replacing much older ladders. We were certainly not attempting to hide anything and we do not manufacture the ladders either. We could not take them back at this point as they had been used and had also bee soiled by birds ( as stated ). The vast majority of pools have ladders like these and it has never been an issue in the past.

Unfortunately due to the anonymity of this review, it is difficult to verify any details that Vivien has provided with regards to the opening, but I will do my best to address each of the issues mentioned. Vivien, or any other potential customers, are encouraged to contact us directly with any questions or concerns.
The services that are included in a pool opening are outlined on our website (www.totaltechpools.com), on our pool opening flyer, in store, and by Total Tech Pools staff upon booking. Depending on the package selected, these services go beyond simply removing the cover and turning the pump on. The entire process also takes place in two stages (once again, depending on the package selected).
The first stage is for de-winterizing the equipment and preparing the pool to be started up. This stage typically does not include starting the pump as the water level must be half way up the skimmer in order to ensure proper circulation. Since the majority of water is drained out of pool in order to properly winterize it upon closing, there is typically not enough water in the pool to start it up. There are exceptions; if there is already enough water in the pool to be started up, then our crews will start the system. If there isn’t enough water in the pool or if there are other outstanding issues (such as technical problems with the pump), the customer is required to fill the pool up with water and contact us when the pool is ready to be started up, at which time a technician would come out to the pool to start it up at no charge. In the event of technical issues, the customer is informed on the invoice or in person by the crew performing the opening, and advised on the next best course of action. Once again, because I am unable to reference our record for this particular opening, I can’t comment on what, if any, issues were present.
When a customer calls in with an issue with the pump (or any piece of equipment), we ask the customer to identify the symptoms of the problem to us providing as many details as possible. The reason we do this is to try to troubleshoot the problem over the phone without having the customer have to pay for a service visit by a technician. In the event the problem cannot be resolved, or if the customer has specifically requested a technician to come out to the property to address the problem, an appointment is scheduled for the earliest available date. Our service range goes from Waterdown to Woodbridge and everywhere in-between with no fluctuation in price based on location. Assuming Vivien is located in Oakville (according to his/her Homestar account), there is no immediate reason why service would have been refused.
Referring back to the services included with the opening, dirt and leaves are removed from the top of the cover, and the condition of water under the cover is dependent on the condition of the pool when it was closed as well as preventative care during the winter as necessary (such as replacing water bags damaged over the winter). Getting the pool cleaned up is a service that Total Tech Pools provides, but is not included with the opening.
The last issue mentioned in this review is the ripped cover and the bent coping. Depending on the type of cover, rips can be quite common and would account for leaves and debris getting into the pool over the winter. The bent coping is typically from lock-in covers being used past their recommended lifespan. As they get older, the covers themselves shrink, putting increasingly more pressure on the coping surrounding the pool each year when weight accumulates on the cover over the winter.
This has been quite a lengthy response to a rather short review, however it is necessary in order to properly address each of the issues noted without being able to reference the particular services or customer. Please feel free to contact myself or any of the other staff here at Total Tech Pools if you have any further questions or concerns.
Best Regards,
