A southfacing patio is lovely for plants but lots of glare in the kitchen and no shade on the patio in the hot summer until 5 or 6 in the evening. We have a beautiful garden and did not want to have anything interfere with the view from inside the house. Any other solution other than an awning would have altered the look of the house too much. While I had to wait almost 5 months between deposit and product delivery, I do not blame Modern for this. With supply chain issues and Covid protests (the product is from the East) I accepted the time it took. I compared prices with other stores and settled on the brand sold by Modern. The fabric selection is huge and I found just what I wanted. I like that the awning is made in Canada and I liked the large size available. I also liked the store salesperson who was knowledgable. In other stores, it seemed awnings were not a key product but more of a small sideline with the sales staff not up on the features. The only downside would be that the angle is a bit fussier to set than with another awning I looked at. That is not a big deal to me as I think the preset is perfect for our application. The awning is a game changer for us as it will give us a much desired use of the patio and finally gives me the ability to eliminate sun in the kitchen when I am cooking. The remote is slick and operates through the wall. All in all, we are wondering why we waited so long to make this much needed improvement.
