Couch and TV stand/ Don't buy from Sears

TL;DR : Ordered a couch, was delayed twice for delivery, took a month to finally get it.
Sectional came in 2 different colours, one piece beige, one piece brown. Continue if
you want to read the long full version, warning there are some obscene language to be
read. Don't order online or at all from Sears!!!

Sept 1 around midnight
So were to start... I believe that you should take everything with a grain of salt.
Yes you often hear more bad than good when it comes to companies. I wanted to believe
that Sears was still the gem that was once my mothers go to store, after all they've been
around so long they must have the business figured out. Boy was I wrong, instead of
that diamond in the rough, it's a prehistoric shell of a company that can't seem to
get it right. I for one am sick of all these Jurassic Park sequels and this one needs
to bite the dust for good. This one doesn't even have Jeff Goldblum to try and salvage it.

So let's talk about what my situation is. I ordered a couch on the 1st of September (along
with a TV stand), upon check out, my delivery date was stated to be the 16th of Sept. This
was perfect, I was ecstatic since this was a day after my closing date on my Condo, so the
elevator was booked for that day and I was on the road to a smooth move. I wouldn't have
ordered it in the first place if it wasn't that date since I could find a couch at a local
shop and have it shipped for that day. I received the email confirmation minutes after finalizing
my order. The delivery date was marked for Sept 23rd. I don't understand how the order went
from a delivery date from the 16th to the 23rd in minutes. I called the toll free number and
was answered by an offshore operator (it was 1 am in the morning). The operator failed to have
any information, since they only have general information for inquiries, and told me to call
back between normal operating hours (8am to 8 PM I believe). Next day, the operator tells me
that the couch is back ordered. How the website doesn't tell you this information before ordering
is a mystery, I mean the mystic powers of the internet clearly makes information magically appear
within seconds before praying to the computer gods. Now I have to book the elevator for the 23rd.
I don't know what time it would come in, so I had to tell the front desk at my Condo to book me
a slot for an unspecified time for that day. I don't want to be that guy that books the whole
day, just so I can get 2 pieces of furniture sent.

Sept 21
The 21st comes and I receive an automated call. They give you a 7am - 6pm window to wait for the
delivery. This might be standard for most places so beware if you live in a Condo and have to book
specific time slots for the elevator for move in/out. So that still doesn't help me but I recall
the second operator telling me that the automated call will give me a tighter window 12 hours before
the delivery day. The next day comes and the automated call says that the delievery will be there from
9am-1pm. Luckily the elevator was free until 2 pm, so it should be good to go. A little before 1 pm
I get the call from the delivery guys and they're here to drop of my stuff. The problem is, only one
piece was to be delivered, my TV stand. The delivery guys know nothing about delivering a couch, and
how should they since they're an outsourced company with no real affiliation other than deliveries.
There was no email or phone notification saying that my couch was delayed either.

My third call was pretty irrate to the toll free number, and I sincerely feel bad toward the operator
that answered my call. Anyway, she says how much she's sorry and that she understands how it must
feel, but in a non-sincere way, like she's been saying it all day and the words just lost all meaning.
She's just saying all that garbage because she's paid to and the only thing she's looking forward to
is her lunch break so she doesn't have to deal with all the p!ssed off customers that had the unfortunate
idea of shopping at Sears. I was told this time, that the order was to come on the 30th of Sept. So I
went to the front desk to book a time, which was 10am - 2 pm since they need a 4 hour window. I called
my 4th time to specify the time with the operator but was told that it would cost me an additional charge
to have a 4 hour window for my delivery. Oh boy did this set me off. After a short conversation about
how mad I was with the whole ordeal, she put me on hold to speak with a manager about getting this window
secured without charge.

Sept 30
The delivery finally came. The move was smooth mainly because the delivery men know what they
were doing (not like the rest of this sh!t show). I unpacked the couch and lo and behold one piece of the
sectional was beige and the other was light brown. Like 2 turd coloured shades different, totally noticeable.
At this point, I'm done with it all, I'm gonna deal with it, maybe get a few beige and brown couch pillows to
pull everything together. Needless to say, I will never do business with Sears ever again. With all these
businesses going out of business, Sears will probably be next and I won't shed a tear when that happens.

KitchenAid dish washer Duncan Store

This is our 5th or 6th dishwasher (not a great track record with several of them). The KitchenAid dishwasher Sears # 22369450910 is so quiet that sometimes you have to listen specifically to determine if it is running. a previous dishwasher we had was also quiet but that was because it wash not washing anything, not the case with the KitchenAid, the dishes come out sparkling and are not beaten and chipped. This unit was recommended by the sales woman after we described our needs and was one of the few we could find with correct tyne spacing and angle.

Delivery

TERRIBLE SERVICE. I'm a student and waiting for a bed to be delivered. Terrible availbility. They come the 10 mins I have to step out in a 6 hour period they tell me to wait. Do not leave a note, call or anything. I stay home the rest of the night waiting and it doesn't come. They don't deliver again till later next week. I'm a student sleeping on the floor after paying over $1000 for a bed. I will never, ever shop here again. DO NOT RELY ON SEARS.

I would NEVER call Sears Repair Again! Rudest tech I have ever encountered.

I bought a VERY expensive Maytag Bravos washer & dryer 2 years ago and paid around $2000 for the pair. Fortunately bought an extended warranty. Washer stopped working and tech came, needed parts, came back 1 week later. Still didn't work. Ordered more parts, came back another week later. Still didn't work. Called me to my laundry room and said "I don't know what's wrong with it." So I asked him "Well, isn't there someone you can call? You can't just leave and say you don't know what's wrong..." He called his supervisor and more parts were ordered. One week later, a different technician shows up. This man was RUDE beyond belief --- and arrogant. My laundry room is 5' x 6' and on the 2nd floor of my home. The first thing he says, angrily to me, is "How am I supposed to work in there???" I told him, well, the other man was able to. The way he was asking me questions was very rude and patronizing "Well, was it making any noise???" "So what did the other technician do???" to which I asked "Don't you have notes? I don't know what parts he replaced." His response "Well, didn't you ask???" When he did finish, 3 hours later, he had replaced the drum. But what was equally upsetting as his rude, arrogant attitude was that he had thrown the containers of detergent and fabric softener up on TOP of my cabinets over the washer & dryer, along with some hangers that were hanging on the rack across from the Dryer. There is no way I can reach them without a ladder. And the pail that had some cleaning supplies was 1/2 full of water, just left in the middle of the floor, and the cleaning supplies dumped out in the hallway. Wet towels were left on the floor. 3 days later, my first load of laundry --- I went into my laundry room and there is a huge puddle of water on the floor.

Fairview mall Sears worst experience ever

I ordered an Irobot from the store. The staff told me the delivery date is in a week and on the receipt it also showed that the item will be delivered in a week. I arrived at the stated date to pick up the item after a 10 min wait only to be told it's not here yet with no explanation at all. When asked when can I expect my order to arrive the answer was:"I'm not sure you should call us before you come again." Ok so I gave it another week and called again and the staff at the store checked and said the item has arrived and I can go and pick it up. So in the afternoon I arrived at Fairview Sears and after another 20 min long wait, the staff told me:"your item is not here, I don't know who told you it has arrived." When asked when can I expect the item, the answer is there has been a delay(which no one ever bothered to tell me about) and the delivery date is uncertain. So I asked again can I expect the item to be here within a month, the answer was still I can't guarantee that. It was a horrible horrible experience, save yourselves the trouble and buy elsewhere!

Kenmore Vacuflo Crap Installation

The installation of my central vac is a fire hazard! I guess I should be over it by now as this happened 12 years ago and I haven't used Sears for as much as a Kleenex purchase since, but I'm not. Every time I vacuum I have to put up with it venting all over the inside of my storage closet. This is where it was installed in the basement right beside a bare lightbulb. I can no longer use the light in there as it has melted the plastic tubing leading to the vacuum waste canister and melted shut the outlet which not installed in a wall but just protrudes from the tubing (which I had to pay extra for). The installer (some clown named Randy) first told me that the unit couldn't be installed at all in my small 2 storey house. Then he managed to do it through cold air return ducts (duh). Then he told me it could not be vented outside. This also proved to be incorrect as the tubing could have gone through to the laundry room and vented outside along with the dryer (my renovator brother in law told me). I couldn't do this later either, as the installer took all the extra tubing with him when he left (along with service and cleaning instructions, warranty, box, etc.). Also, the only outlet that I can use is the one on the main floor of my house as the outlet upstairs was installed behind a door that, when in use, squishes and damages the hose. I paid extra for three outlets in all. At the time I was excited to get a Vacuflo system as I suffer from allergies and was told this was the way to go! Now I have to put up with this crap venting all over the inside of my house with only one working outlet. Every time I use this thing I'm mad, itchy and sick!

Fridge Delivery

You would think that if you were Sears, and you saw you had a 0.8/10 rating for customer service, you would be prompted to make some changes.
The first change I would make, if I were Sears, is to ensure my delivery people understood that they were delivering items to... customers! Yes, that's right, customers! Prompting you to use your... customer service skills, should you have any.
We've had the recent experience of dealing with the Sears delivery people on the North Shore, which included hostility, anger, refusal to provide a name or identification when asked - and then the refusal to actually deliver the item they showed up to deliver!
Perhaps it wasn't so much a refusal, as it was just getting in a huff and driving away with the paid for item still on the truck.
4 days later, and they still haven't come back with it, regardless of the effort put forth on our end.
Sears, review after review says your service is atrocious. I would imagine your bottom line will eventually be proof of this, should you require it.
Such a shame, particularly for a Canadian company that should pride itself on a top notch experience.

Two sofas

I purchased two sofas from sears , the middle seat of both broke in just two years. Sears irresponsibly refused to repair it because its warranty is over. They told me to contact the manufacturer directly(AMALFI HOME FURNITURE as told by sears representative ). The lady took the phone at that manufacturing facility was not willing to speak even one word to me. I called back sears and said my concerns. They promised they would be getting back to me soon. But nothing happened even after weeks. The most sad thing I am still paying sears for these sofas that are totally damaged. So I recommend you avoid buying from sears.
