Outdoor Painting

We hired Student Works to paint our new fence and deck, and they came and completed the work. However, after less than one season the paint was peeling off the deck. It seemed as if the wrong product may have been used.
When I contacted the company to redeem the warranty, they were initially unresponsive. However, they did eventually return to our home and redo the job for free.
Based on this experience, I would say that Student Works does stand by their warranty and tries to ensure customer satisfaction.

Company Response

Sorry to hear about your experience. As you can see from most of our reviews, our customers tend to be very satisfied. We have clearly failed in this case. Apologies again. There is no excuse for the lack of communication. Martin is still a Student Works person and has agreed to repaint your deck over the next two weeks. As with most painting companies decks are NOT covered by our Three Year Warranty, and we make this clear. Having said that, we've been in business for 25 years and pride ourselves on going above and beyond to honour warranty. Regardless of what is not covered under our warranty program, even a deck or stairs should not fail within a year. Rest assured, we will investigate why it failed and fix it. Thanks for your patience. Dan

Outdoor Painting

Student Works Painting agreed to paint our new deck, shed, and outdoor stairs in a product deemed suitable (Mesmers). They completed the job last autumn and the paint had already peeled up off the deck and stairs in large amounts by the spring (yes, the area had been allowed to season for a year). They have verbally agreed to come re-do the work (which was still under warranty) and each time have failed to show up. Months have gone by and the problem is unresolved -- $1800 later, Martin's Student Works team still has not even had the decency to return calls. He appears to have started his own company -- MB Painting. Avoid at all costs!

Neither Martin nor the Student Works company has responded to my repeated calls. I would avoid both Student Works and MB Painting at all costs. They do not stand by their warranty and do sub-standard work.
