Beware

After researching and reviewing we decided upon Renew-Stairs and met with the owner. All seemed fine... until the work started... and then the job went horribly wrong.

Cracked banister, bad staining, over staining, nails showing everywhere, gouges very badly patched and overall the wrong colour stain.

At each stage these issues were brought to the owner's attention and each time he assured us it would be looked after.

The Job was completed mid-March 2016. It's now mid-August and we've just received a $2500 refund because the owner refuses to fix the issues after 5 months of promising he would.

We should have thrown these people out half way through the job but the owner is a good talker and convinced us all would be ok.

It took five months and the threat of Small Claims Court to get the owner to show up. When he wrote the cheque he filled in the year as 2015. That was the final telling point.

Be very careful if you use this company. Pay as little as you can and withhold as much as you can until you're happy with the work... if you ever are.

Worst work I've ever seen... and the worst customer service.

Approximate cost of services:
$9,500.00

Company Response

We have many happy and wonderful customers and luckily situations like what happened with this job are very rare. Possibly once in 12 years.
Of course, If there is ever a problem I am very willing to fix it to the customer's satisfaction and will work until the customer is 100% satisfied. I am disturbed that so many of the facts in this review are simply not true.

At first, I admit there were some problems with the job and I am no longer employing the person who worked on it. In this case the customer's (husband) behavior became unacceptable. It was a difficult decision, but rather than put myself and my staff in a potentially dangerous situation, I felt it was better to simply refund the customer and move on.”
