There was a putrid sewage-like smell that was coming from our upstairs bathroom, but nowhere else in the home. I called a few other companies on Homestars, but DrainCom was the only one able to send a technician the same afternoon when I was also available.
Alex was awesome and punctual! He listened to all the symptoms and listed out the most probably causes, and noted the ones that are least invasive. Turns out, the culprit was a faulty seal that connects the toilet to the drain pipe. The seal was cracked and allowed some exhaust air to come out into the bathroom.
Alex was finished in under 30 minutes... emptying the toilet bowl, removing it, changing the bowl ring, and reinstalling the toilet... all while keeping the bathroom tidy and clean.
While repairing, he informed me about how a cracked bowl ring can occur and the mostly likely reasons for some failing sooner than others. Knowledge bonus!
