Wasaga Beach, 30 Day Tarion

I found Andy on line and after some background checking, decided to hire Andy to conduct our 30 Day Tarion warranty check. I am truly happy that we did, the things that Andy noted more than paid for the inspection cost.

The inspection was very through, well noted in the final report with pictures and he actually went into the attic to do a proper inspection. Most inspectors will not do more than just look through the attic hatch to check things out. Just the fact the builder's contractor failed to insulate the attic to code was worth the price of admission.

Andy is a very personable, down to earth guy and his ability to follow up at some point after an inspection is something many don't do without charging further fees. Andy takes an interest to ensure the resolution is proper and to code.

I would highly recommend and use Safe Homes Canada again should the need arise.

Rest easy, Andy is the best.

Andy came highly recommended by a relative when I bought my first house in 2012. I hired him again for my second house in 2015. His work is thorough and diligent, and he is very honest about what he finds and how to deal with any issues that he uncovers. He provides a detailed report with photos immediately after inspection. I found his fees very reasonable.

Total home inspection

Andy was very thorough, explained things along the way for our benefit and was alway personable. We came away knowing a whole lot more about our new home, what items we should address immediately and which ones were more secondary. Andy also pointed out many positive items in the building and provided a comprehensive selection of photos. I will recommend Safe Homes whenever I can.

Excellent home inspection

Hired Andy upon referral from our Real Estate Agent and leared during the extensive inspection what it felt like to get full value out of a service. Andy inspected every inch of the home and explained how and why things are the way they are. He will tell you exactly how it is whether good or bad. Worth the money to know what you are purchasing.

Great experience, detailed assessment

Andy from Safe Homes Canada completed a required home assessment on a place we were looking to buy in Wasaga Beach. He was very thorough, discussing concerns with us along the way. When the attic area was not accessible during the inspection, he made arrangements to return to the site and inspect the area.
Our DETAILED report with PHOTOS was an expert touch - not only do we have a record of any concerns; we have the photographs to which we can refer for exact location of required repairs.
Andy was prompt, courteous and efficient in his work. We highly recommend his services.

Home inspection

Andy took the time to fully inspect our house. We are first time home owners and had no clue about foundations, electrical and or plumbing. Andy explained what he was doing, why he was doing it and how to improve various aspects of the property.
I would absolutely recommend him to anyone who requires a home inspection and will use him in the future

Home Inspection

I decided to go with safe homes canada for a home inspection of a house I had put an offer on. Even though safe homes canada was a little more pricy than other I went with them because they say they inspect every inch top to bottom , including attic and roof.

As soon as the inspector (Andy) stuck his head in the attic he said it was too tight to get around and that he could inspect from there. I purchased the home and started renovations. About 3 weeks in I had to make a few trips in the attic to do some repairs. I couldnt walk around standing up but I was able to get around walking hunched over for the majority of the attic. I believe he should have gone up to thoroughly inspect. I found a couple of the roof truss main cords had split/cracked apart and the plywood in a few spots were wet around nail holes. Also he would have seen the bathroom vent hose wasn't properly vented and was so deteriorated that the air wouldnt make it to the end of the pipe anyways. Because I didnt know it wasnt vented properly I had been using the shower which began created mold in the attic near the tube.

Before I had gone up into the attic myself my brother asked who I used because he was purchasing his first home. He ended up using safe homes canada also. A couple days after the inspection he told me that he thought he was a bit pricy but he was one of the only people that would inspect whole attic and roof. During the inspection he looked up in the attic but said again it was too tight to get in, than after going up the ladder said the roof was too icy and unsafe. I would completely understand that except as I pointed out to my brother, in the pictures of his roof (in the report) you can see that there is ice in spots, but alot of it was completely clear including where the ladder was.

I think safe homes canada makes alot of big claims but doesnt follow up.

Century home Inspection

UDPATE TO THIS REVIEW: Only once we actually moved into the house did we realize that Andrew Christie was not thorough at all. He missed all the knob and tube wiring, the shoddy wiring by the previous owner and the fact that the plumbing was a disaster. We are out by thousands of dollars and I feel that if Andrew had done a better job we would have been forewarned. In hindsight I would not recommend him and would like to change my rating to 0.

As we were purchasing a century home in the country we did some research and came across Safe Homes Canada, they specialize in century homes. Andrew Christie was very accommodating and we met him at the house. He did a very thorough inspection and provided us with a comprehensive report listing numerous critical and non critical fixes that needed to be done. He was forthcoming with recommendations and tips. He explained in detail what he was checking and why he was checking. He also offered to be of assistance throughout our renovation project. We were totally satisfied with his service and would recommend him highly

Home Inspection on Century House and Barn

We just had a 6 hour home inspection done on some property and had the most incredible home inspector. Hi name is Andrew and he is from http://www.safehomescanada.com. He was so detailed and so diligent: he truly went beyond what I have ever seen one do. The guy literally crawled up an attic space that my 5 year old could barely fit into. His work ethic was amazing... the company does a wide area of Southern Ontario so I thought I would pass along his info if you know anyone who is in need of one. He also is a specialist in century homes which is hard to find. He spent 6 hours at the location and was so generous with his time to explain all the details of what he was doing and what the minor and major issues were with the property. His report was extremely detailed and comprehensive.

I would highly recommend this company.

More about Safe Homes Canada

Safe Homes Canada is THE MOST THOROUGH home Inspection company in Canada. And that is PROVABLE. We walk and crawl all the way through attics and crawlspaces, examine all elements fully, while approximately 90% of home inspectors look inside from access points. We also fully inspect roofs - every surface and flashing - all winter long, while most inspectors say they cannot be inspected. Massive change is required in this industry, as there is no requirement for home inspectors - in any association Standard of Practice - to go all the way into attics and crawlspaces. So most home buyers are at risk relating to rotted structure, mould, asbestos, etc.
We are a civil engineering technology-based home inspection company that has been committed to integrity and excellence for a quarter of a century.

Our custom-typed reports are photo-driven, free of generic hyperbole, and grounded in the vernacular of building sciences, and are GUARANTEED.

Here is a simple tip for interviewing home inspectors: ask them exactly how they will inspect the attic. The only correct answer is, 'We go all the way through it, unless it is super-tight, so we can check all sheathing for mould, prod structural wood, and dig test holes for asbestos, bat guano, wood chips, etc.

Don’t risk costly surprises when you buy your next home. Call Safe Homes Canada first!
