Roof Replacement

We went through a process of many quotes as this industry can be very confusing with the range of quality quotes.

In the end, we settled on Elements Roofing and the decision was an excellent one.

We left lots of time and planned ahead (approximately 6 weeks) to ensure a good time of year to get the job done (assuming mother nature did not interfere with jobs before our for reason such as rain, extreme heat and/or wind. The end results in that we have a brand new roof that is both better looking, secure and more energy efficient for our home.

Ryan and his crew were professional and diligent getting our project done in one day. The upgrades included shingles, new vents and installing the roof portion of a solar tube skylight.

We needed Ryan to come back to check something out that we thought looked weird on the roof after the job was completed. He took about a week but essentially that was because it is a busy season and he kept in contact with me to indicate that he would be coming.

Ryan was both professional and even sent me photos for a historical record of the roofing job throughout the day.

He is continuing to work on my street and I have recommended him to others.

Roffong

Ryan & his crew re-shingled & repaired 7 roofs, so far, in our 15 year old townhouse complex. We are all happy with the work. His team was extremely courteous and where thorough in their clean up. As a dog owner, I was especially concerned about stray nails. Knowing this my back yard, and deck, was magnetically swept, not once but twice. Some times going the extra mile can make all the difference. Thanks Ryan!

Full Roof Replacement

Ryan and his team completed our full roof replacement. From day one, Ryan was professional, polite and we were very impressed. We live in a townhome and our home was one of the last to have their roof done. Ryan matched our shingles to the others and the job is seamless. You would never know they were done at different times. The cleanup was impeccable - I think I only picked up 2 nails on our walkway. Overall, Ryan and his crew were professional and I would not hesitate to refer them. In fact, they will be doing a neighbours house shortly and I just referred him to my boss. Good job!

Roof replacement

We were referred to Ryan by our neighbours, whose roof Ryan replaced last year (in 2013). To describe our experience and to address some of the comments posted about Ryan and his team:
1) Punctuality: we called Ryan in Feb'14 asking for a quote and to schedule the roof replacement. On the VERY FIRST mild day in Apr'14 our roof has been replaced.
2) Efficiency: we left for work at 8 am leaving our house with the old roof and came home by 5pm - the house simply had a new roof, as if it was always there.
3) Clean-up: there was ABSOLUTELY NO debris around the house (we wouldn't even be able to tell that the roof was replaced, if it wasn't for the different colour of shingles).
4) Roof quality: it's been roughly a month since the roof was replaced (and it was a very rainy and windy month), and there are no issues with the roof whatsoever.
5) Price: competitive is not even a word. We now have two other neighbours on our street who plan to replace their roofs with Ryan's company.

Ryan and the team,
Thank you for the great work!

Roof replacement

Ryan installed my new roof and about 4others on my block in 2010 and within weeks the shingles were falling. He was called and came out in 2010 and brushed it off as though these were loose shingles left on the roof. 3 years later the roof is partially bare and water has been enterng my home. Myself and the neighbour has been calling Ryan and leaving messages to get him to adress and fix the damages. the roof is partially bare and i have water damages in my home. Ryan promised to come and take care of the issue up to April 2014 and he still hasnt come and the water keeps coming in. it in obvious that he does not plan to follow up on the lousy work he did and the damage it has caused.

Company Response

We are here now. I'm not sure why they keep flying off, I will make a call to IKO and get back to you. If the roof has seen over 130 km/h gusts they will not be covered under manufactures warranty for the '25 y marathon' shingle but instead will be covered under home insurance. This is why I no longer offer three tab shingles, I've learned my lesson. In fact there are two neighbours directly across the street who's relatively new 3 tab shingles are flying off the roof as I type this! Plus scores more all down the street.
The roof is fixed and new shingles have been caulked down. The roof needs re doing with a laminate shingle (210km/h wind warranty), I will take pictures to send with a warranty claim to IKO. I will let you know what they decide as soon as I hear back.

roof

Had our roof done by Elements, within months we started having leaking problems with our garage. Ryan came back and caulked the flashing with white caulking (looks terrible & unprofessional) and said the flashing was installed incorrectly and he would come back when he had more time. That was over 6 mths ago. 3 weeks ago he was spotted on our street by my husband doing another roof. He spoke with Ryan about it, who proceeded to put equipment between our house and a neighbours and indicated he would be back in a day or two as he also needed to do some work for one of our other neighbours. Equipment is still there, I phoned him 3 days ago, left message and never get a return call. Our neighbour said she spoke to him twice and he always promises to come out but never shows. At this point I certainly wouldn't recommend them. *** Update he showed up on Friday Nov 1st and removed most of the white caulking and re-caulked with darker caulking. Not sure how that fixes the problem with the flashing being installed incorrectly. The equipment he left behind is gone. No communication at all just did bare minimum and left, no phone call or note left. Not impressed. Update Nov 8, 2013 Communication seems to be the issue. Ryan, you told me the flashing was installed incorrectly, you never told me it was original from the builder, so I assumed you had changed it. When you originally quoted on our roof I told you the roof was leaking in the garage where the flashing is, as it was running down the wall and causing a puddle in the middle of my garage, hence the reason we wanted to get the roof done. So my question is why did you not fix it at the time, to me it should have been part of the job? Thank you,

To clarify, I didn't install the flashing, it was put on by the builder and replacing it was not part of the contract. This was a favour I was going to do you guys at no charge when I had time. The over 3000$ worth of equipment and material left at the side of your house was to assure you we would definitely back. After seeing the review I decided instead to just change the caulking to the appropriate colour. I'm sure you understand, thank you. Ryan
*The reason you needed the roof done was the age of the shingles. Just like all the other roofs we did on your street, it needed doing. If it was imperative that the metal was changed I would've done it long ago. The roof and flashing are watertight. The caulking is the correct colour. That is what you paid for. If you want the metal replaced it would be approx. $300.

Roofing

This company has a very strange approach. They bring 7-8 workers at once and do your roof in less than 2 hours. It seems the fact that they are 10%-20% cheaper than some other companies is mainly because they hire daily-paid workers who apparently have no proper training. Their actual roofing was OK (well, at least so far, let's see what the fall's rain will bring). However, they produced a lot of debris around the house and in the backyard and just left. As well, they left many (and I mean many) nails around the house and on the driveway. We had twice flat tires afterwards (and we did find roofing nails in the tires). Even though we cleaned up multiple times, but it seemed that they have left many nails on the roof, and every time that it was windy we had some more nails on the drive way. Overall, I found the guys from this company actually friendly and nice but they don't know how to do their job (so they are not professionals). And if you think you will save $400-$500, then think twice: flat tires and a lot of headache to clean up yourself.

Company Response

I apologize. Cleanup is a big part of the job, some say the most important for customer satisfaction, and if we didn't do that properly then yes, we didn't do a proper job. Please send me a bill for the tire and your inconvenience.
As for the roof, we had the worst fall and winter ever, how's the roof ...perfect.. that's what I thought. We know EXACTLY what we're doing, we may be '10-20% lower than some companies' but we're about 100% lower than any other reputable company (not home starts reputable, actually reputable) who may have done almost as good of a job on the roof as we did (however their cleanup may have been better and for the price it better be).
With Elements the owner is on the roof! It's the only way I can keep costs down while ensuring quality work. I was on the roof for this particular job. I have two regrets at this point in time; the cleanup, and giving you such a good deal as I don't appreciate the rather nasty assumptions you have made about me and my company.
However, I agreed to the price, and cleanup was included. So, please send me a bill or even just a $ figure for the tires and your time, and I will reimburse you.

New Roof in 2011

On Sep 23 Ryan promised he would show up to fix the the leaking roof that he put on our home, He never showed up, This is the 4th time Ryan has promised to show up and fix the leaking roof, He never shows up. Ryan is a pathelogical truth abuser. He sounds concerned about the probelms he has created but in reality he does nothing to correct his mistakes. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.I don't know how they are still in business

We fixed the problem yesterday sept 25. I now remember this roof. We did come by 6 months ago, a vent was caulked. Turns out that wasn't the problem as this customer called again just over a week ago, we found that two step flashing were missing from the wall. I am not exactly surprised as my ex partner Jason did this roof with me at the time and he has been known to cut corners. Sorry about the delay we are very busy.

roofing

A few years ago I made the mistake of hiring a terrible general contractor to knock down and rebuild my loft. The GC was a disaster, but a couple of the subs were fantastic. Ryan was one of these subs.

Ryan came through for my family big time. He understood the stress we were under (no roof on our house), and really made the extra effort to get the job done quickly and right.
