Relocating radiators for kitchen reno

Right from the start, I knew I had called the right guy!

Kris (and Denmark Mechanical) is a shining example of what you wish you could expect from any professional contractor: on time, on budget, courteous, informative, accurate (measures 3x), great communication skills, empathetic to the homeowner, intuitive, tidy... and true to his word. A good planner, excellent workmanship, great personality. He's even followed up with us about the finished reno to make sure all is good. That's the short story.

Here's the longer story:
Beginning of August -- Our GC was uninterested in including in the scope of work, the removal of two rads for the duration of the reno, then to relocate one of the rads, due to replacing a window with a patio door...which they also left us dealing with on our own (see our HIP review)

Mid-August -- After checking HomeStars, we had a few plumbers to contact. However, I got a return call from Kris almost immediately. I explained what I wanted over the phone, he was ready to make an appointment and gave me a list of things to do prior to his arrival. In between that call and his appointment, he called back twice to remind me of a few details and confirm meeting at 9.30am.

End of August -- He brought help with him and, came ready to work but, not before discussing and clarifying our options and, then his plan of action for the coming weeks of the reno. Once agreed, he set to work and even carried the rads to the garage so i could repaint them!

September -- main reno starts and goes till first week of October (Denmark not involved)

End of September -- Throughout the process, he had paid remarkable attention to details i had forgotten and was completely ready to re-install the rads on an emergency call because of an issue with measurements for the adjacent cabinetry. Again, deliberate effort to maintain contact with client, keep us informed and even re-checking with me before cutting holes in floor for new location of rads. Suffice to say, they did a great job, thanks! It was refreshing to have a work done in my house that i didn't feel "stuck" with or that didn't leave us with unexpected compromises.

By far, one of the best experience i've had with a contractor (and I've met some really good contractors!), one that left me wishing Kris Denmark also did kitchen renos! A definite invite to the house warming party, once we get our oven/stove working but... that's another story...

Cheers, Chris!
