Replacing roof shingles is always a stress-full time. Will you find a good contractor? get a reasonable price? get a product you are comfortable with?
Our roof shingles were near end of life with some curling corners and obvious wear on shingled valleys. We got a few quotes, including Fair and Square Roofing on the recommendation of our neighbours. All were competitive and close to each other. Shortly after requesting a quotation, we got a response from Dominik and set up a meeting with Steve to estimate the job. Steve scheduled the visit at a time suitable for us, was prompt, explained the options available to us and provided viewing samples of the shingles we were interested in. He even took us outside to see the samples in the sunlight where they look slightly different than inside under artificial light. At no time did he use pressure sales tactics, simply explaining options and leaving us to make the decisions after he left.
Once we entered into a contract Steve found their normal supplier did not have colour we wanted, let us know the issue and then went the extra step to get the shingles from an alternate source.
Fair and Square kept us informed as the order went from accepted, to scheduled, to delivery of product, to work on site. The crew arrived promptly at the time scheduled, got right to work and completed the job in two days. The crew was courteous, focused on the job and professional in completing the work. Cleanup was ongoing with a thorough cleanup at end of each day, even sweeping the hard surfaces around the house.
Dominik came by a day after the crew left, did a final cleanup and inspection, taking care of a few minor items that were not up to his standards. He also provided us with several photos of the completed roof for future reference.
Overall, we were very pleased with the approach taken by Fair and Square in getting us a quote promptly and in the work and product delivered. We are confident we have a roof that will give us many years of protection from the elements.
