Bathroom fan replacement (x2)

Joel was very thorough in explaining everything involved in replacing my 28-year-old bathroom fans. Originally, in my ignorance, I thought it was as simple as removing the old unit/motor and screwing the new one in (you know, like 20 minutes a fan, right?), but that could not be further from the truth. This type of job takes time to do right, that's all there is to it. The new fans have larger venting/ducting and my old ducting that connects to my roof needed to be replaced, regardless, because it was so old and you need to make sure that the new fan is sealed up completely so that no dangerous moisture gets into your attic, which is crucial in our freezing winters, as damage could occur quickly if some hack does this job in a rush or poor workmanship. Joel was up in my attic, checking everything out and making sure he had all the right pieces to retrofit the new fan to my older home. It's a much messier job than I thought it would be (the job is, but Joel kept things clean and tidy), so I'm glad I had someone experienced tackling this and not my jack-of-all-trades brother, as I don't think it would have ended well had I sourced him (sorry bro!). Do not attempt this on your own if you are not an electrician who has done this many times before. My old fans are the originals that came with the house, they were the cheapest model the builder could have chosen, unsurprisingly, and were not only very loud, they didn't clear out steam very effectively, or other, ahem, odours. Time for them to go. The Panasonic product that Joel chose for me was truly excellent, I'm told it's the product of choice for electricians as its durability is renowned, and, if something goes wrong, parts are easy to find so servicing should not be a problem for the next couple of decades (removing the possibility of ripping out the whole unit and starting from scratch). So, you could get a lesser quality product (as I'm often tempted to do), but I need these fans to last at least 20 years (and stay quiet), especially since replacing a unit is so labourious that I don't want to repeat the process in 5 or 10 years. Anyways, the pricing differential was not much given the expected lifetime of the product. I'm glad Joel didn't let me get away with a cheaper unit, like the one my builder installed. Now, let's talk about how awesome this fan is: it's so quiet I sometimes have to double-check that it is on. I can finally hear my thoughts again while I'm in the washroom, lol. And the amazing thing is, it moves so much air volume that I have yet been able to fog up the mirror when taking a shower. My better half sometimes takes 25-minute HOT showers and her too, has yet to fog up the bathroom mirrors. AMAZING! If you really want a premium upgrade, Joel can get you a fan with a moisture sensor and it will automatically turn off and on as needed, depending on what's happening in the washroom. I didn't opt for it, but still cool to know that it's a possibility if you want the ultimate in fan convenience and energy savings (or have very forgetful people in your household). Joel stands by his work, he is friendly and conversational and will patiently take the time to answer as many questions as you may have for the job, so you are feeling confident about everything before he commences. Marshal Electric stands by their work, is very thorough, priced extremely fair and won't screw you around with outrageous quotes (when it comes to this type of thing, if you buy cheap you will buy twice, so don't do it!). I wouldn't hesitate to call them for the next job around my house and neither should you.
