Can't Trust, Scandalist, Incompetent

They came to my house 3 times to fix my fridge. By the third time, they said they had replaced everything they could and that if I still had issues, it would probably need to be replaced. I had to deal with this for 6 months, and taking numerous days off and they also had 3 no shows blaming it on wrong number (even though they have been dealing with me for so long), wrong address, etc. Finally, I called Whirlpool with the last no show as they were not picking up their phone any longer and told them the whole story. I was sent to another company who told me the previous tech, this company, tried to put some sort of putty, to disguise the leak. I was so frustrated because my fridge was under warranty the whole time so why not just replace or fix it the right way? No to mention, they tried to pretend Appliance Tech and Y2K was two different companies and tried to charge me for service calls again when it was actually a call back! The last time they came, they said if they had to come again it would probably be to replace the fridge, but instead they just stopped picking up my calls. TERRIBLE! If you call Whirlpool, make sure that they DO NOT send Appliance Tech Y2K. Their policy is that they can't share the company name (who knows why) but you can request refusal of a certain company!

Because the whole thing took more than 6 months to deal with, I ran out of warranty by the time they figure that they should just replace it. I had to pay $750 out of pocket to replace my fridge. If they figured it out before my 12 month warranty, I wouldn't be jacked like this.

Approximate cost of services:
$750.00

Company Response

Dear sir/madam,
Thank you for bringing this issue to my attention and for the opportunity for our manager to go over the issues. I sincerely regret that it had to get to that point as that is obviously not how we typically operate. Rather than just relying on the technician to resolve your concerns - which obviously did not happen - I should have got involved personally sooner. Unfortunately, our staff made a poor decision on your repairs to use a subcontractor/technician as our normal techs were out of that area, but it is clear that they did not meet our high-quality standards and as a result we will be correcting the deficiencies with our regular techs and not work with that other contractors moving forward. There is no excuse at all for the issues experienced on your work and rest assured this has been resolved by getting rid of some of our contractors and an office staff. I hope that I can restore some of your trust and confidence, by showing you the quality that you deserved by providing a no charge service trip for any other appliance repair in future.
Thank you,
Y2K Management
