Called Alex to get a quote on replacing the flight of stairs to my deck. They were starting to sag. He quoted me me a good price for replacing the stairs and disposing of the junk, but it was conditional on what he found when the stairs were removed. He could see that there was rot on the deck, that was part of the reason for the stairs sagging.
The job indeed was more complicated, but Alex seemed to enjoy the challenge. He assessed the rot on the deck, made a plan and let me know what I might need to do later and what needed to be done now. He replaced all the rotted supports and secured the stairs very strongly. He did not charge any more than he quoted for just the stairs.
