We had an excellent experience with Alex and Pulsar Construction. He spent his time going over a lot of different options to help us build our "perfect deck". We appreciated his ability to offer suggestions and solutions for our need. Once we decided on materials and a layout, Alex gave us a detailed quote and timeline for our project. Once the build started, he gave us updates daily and we were really impressed with the progress. Alex completed the project exactly within the budget and timeline provided. We are so happy with our new deck and really appreciated the professionalism and attention to detail that Alex consistently provided.

The purchase and installation of a new hot tub led to a Google search to find a qualified builder to design and construct not only an aesthetically pleasing hot tub deck enclosure, but also a deck that would provide safe and easy access. My husband and I are extremely grateful that our Google search led us to Pulsar Construction. We thank the many people who have taken the time to share their reviews on Google, Houzz, and HomeStars as it made our decision to make a contract with Alex an easy one. We contacted Alex via his website and his prompt follow up was appreciated. When he visited our home, he took the time to explain our options, show us samples, and to suggest a lower ground level deck that would tie into the hot tub deck enclosure, making our sloped and smaller back yard far more useable. After his site inspection, Alex provided an incredibly detailed drawing and quote. We opted for the full design option consisting of both the hot tub and lower back yard decks, and we could not be more pleased. For materials, we selected the TimberTech Azek Polymer Decking Vintage Collection in English Walnut with accent picture framing around the decks in Dark Hickory and we are in love with the finished result! This Polymer decking material is amazing: we love that it does not get uncomfortably hot in the sun and the textured grain is perfect for the hot tub application as well as our climate in B.C.. Alex has an engineering background and his meticulous attention to detail has truly left us in awe. Throughout the project, he and his helper provided great communication. The job site was always clean and tidy and the final clean up perfect. A true craftsman, Alex has built us a safe hot tub deck enclosure and a lower ground extension which will allow our family to enjoy our backyard in a way that was not possible before. Alex did a fantastic job building our split level deck, transforming our backyard into what is now our favourite place to entertain, hang out, and just relax. From our initial meeting for a quotation Alex helped us decide on the design to maximize our deck area as well as other suggestions like the cover for the top of the deck. Throughout the construction he kept us informed, and dedicated his time to our project alone. It is clear to see he takes a great deal of pride in his work, which is clear looking at the beautiful job he did on our deck. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone looking to build a deck.

Alex is a true professional and it was really exciting to see the progress of our deck which was built so quickly! From providing the initial quote, to answering our questions & making recommendations, to building the deck, we were truly very happy with the work done. We opted with the Mahogany TimberTech Azek PVC deck and it is truly a beautiful option which will be low maintenance and last for years to come. The deck is super strong and sturdy due to Alex's engineering background and knowlwedge. Every day when they left for the day, they left the workplace super clean and immaculate. We are so happy with our new deck, and it turned out way better than we could have imagined. Alex and his helper did such an amazing job, from start to finish I always felt like I was informed and part of the process. From the original design to the finished product, Alex always was communicating how progress was going. After getting three quotes for my project, I knew Pulsar was the clear choice after I received their quote (although not lowest) I could tell that Alex was going to be very meticulous during the building process. His quote was the only one with a detailed drawing of the plan, even right down to each location of the footings! Looking forward to spending the summer entertaining on our deck!

We met with Alex and he wasn't able to carry out the work for us, as we had some levelling issues, but his advice was very good and he was very honest. We look forward to working with Alex on future projects.

I was extremely happy with the project. Good workmanship and good product. Alex used to quality composite and walked us through the entire process. He took his time and made sure that the structure was safe and reliable. No cutting corners. Very professional.

Deck and substructure needed replacement. Pulsar poured new concrete foundations, built new framework and installed new composite deck surface. Work was done on time, in a completely professional manner. All work was of a very high standard. We are delighted with our new deck and would recommend Alex to anyone looking for a contractor.
