Front and back landscaping and interlock patio
I have worked with multiple contractors, and it is rare to find the one who embodies everything I’d want in the same person/company:
- Passionate and knowledgeable about their trade: You can see they enjoy doing the work, care about it, and hope to complete something they’re proud of. They’re meticulous (although not slow). They understand and are happy to talk through the methodology they will be using to do the project.
- Creative: Have an inspiring vision and an emotional stake in a successful project, rather than passively waiting for details and direction.
- Easy to communicate with: not only reply right away when contacted, but also proactively communicate when anything may not turn as expected (due to weather or any other unexpected circumstance). Bring a friendly energy that is easy to work with.
- Organized and planful: Have everything ready to start before the project, so there’s no time wasted. Ask for the necessary decisions ahead of time to plan successfully.
- Responsible: If a material is not available, or alternative plans need to be made, willing to do this while staying within the agreed upon quote/budget.
