Bathroom Renovation

The response from Citywide to my complaint below is so outrageous that it is almost not worth responding to. I begged them to come to my house to see the damage. I told them to bring their engineer. I asked his staff to leave after the fourth major water leak and when James refused to come to see what was going on. He actually parked a few doors down when he came to pick up his staff. Wouldnt answer the phone or my texts. My kitchen ceiling was on the floor and no one would come to the house. Yes of course I told them to leave since they couldn't do anything
without the boss say so and he refused to face me. Insurance fraud? My
neighbours? Get real! Who do you think is going to believe that
nonsense? There were things missing, swearing, yelling, rudeness, unprofessionalism which even included one of their staff going into my bedroom and my ensuite and opening the door while I was using the toilet. Why was he in the master bedroom to begin with? I sent you invoices, how else do you know how much I am claiming in damages.
Continue to tell fibs and you only show how unprofessional you are. Can you be more foolish?
Below is my original post.

Original post:
I hired them to renovate my bathroom and soon found out that they had absolutely no knowledge of basic construction standards. They had incompetent subcontractors and plumbers working in my home for over 4 weeks and all they managed to do was damage my home.
They installed tiles directly onto the studs, nailed pipes together instead of using plumbers putty, cut the lips off the bathtub and did not bolt it to anything. Did not use waterproof sealant, did not use ditra (waterproof membrane) on the floor before installing the tiles, used plywood nails instead of construction nails, used grout to repair holes they made in my walls, floor was raised almost 2 inches for some reason and was left with a 45 degree slant, and they damaged all my plumbing.
One of their contractors was peeing into the plumbing for my bathtub instead of using the powder room. When the new plumber was repairing the damage he found stale urine in the P-trap. The stink made me physically ill twice.
I had 4 water leaks during their construction. The final one caused so much damage to my kitchen ceiling, I had to have half the ceiling and my cabinets replaced and mould removed. The owners never came to my home to see the damage.
They hid the mould in the bathroom and covered it up with tiles. They told me there was no mould. They did not use drywall, but glued heavy 12x24 porcelain tiles directly on the studs. The wall came down by hand in less than 3 seconds. They put my family in DANGER of being seriously harmed.
Their contractors yelled and screamed, swore excessively, even while I was working from home and in meetings, and took household items from my storage in the basement.
In addition to the damage to my bathroom and kitchen, they stained my carpet, punched holes in my walls and linen closet, damaged my banister in several places and left the place absolutely filthy.
The new plumber said that if I had used the sink, toilet or shower, I would have had a major water leak and by the time I would have finished showering, the house would have been flooded.
It cost me almost $26,000 to repair the damage and the additional costs to the original cost of remodelling the bathroom.
Citywide has not compensated me for any of the damage they caused. I will have to take them to court.
Citywide has NO PROFESSIONAL ETHICS at all.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR ANY TYPE OF WORK.

Approximate cost of services:
$10,000.00

Company Response

Hi first of all I would like to apologize for your experience with citywide.

I would like to say this is the first you have mentioned about things being stolen. That’s is an awful thing to accuse. But of course that will have to be proven when it go to court.

when it comes to urine in your bathroom that you accused of our sub contractor and that he didn’t use the toilet in all the time he was there. He has medical conditions and has a bag. Again that will be proved in the court.

you say we have taking no responsibility? I’m going to see if I can upload the chat logs between you and my employer. We did everything in our power to resolve the situation but you refused absolutely everything we purposed. From the first day we started the job you ran down our staff and at one point asked one of our staff to leave the job for absolutely no reason. From day one is all we received from you was threats that you would destroy our business. Not to mention from day one you wanted to scam the insurance to have them pay for repairs at your home.

we completed almost the total job despite everything you didn’t pay us not one single dollar for any of the work. You refuse to even pay for the materials that was purchased for your home.

we offered to have a engineer inspect the damage that you say we have caused and you refused. Then you send a bill for over $36,000. ?

you wanted a free bathroom plus money? But not surprising since you wanted to scam the insurance company.

its then we should of walked away. Like I say we have all the chat logs then will be presented in court of were you agreed that all was good one week before Christmas. But then you got other contractors in to do some work and I heard from your neighbors they also didn’t get paid.

in all my 52 years experience in construction I have never had to deal with a matter or a customer like this.

I don’t have one single negative reviews. But from day one we received multiple threat of trying to destroy our business.

I am going to see if I can talk to the home stars to see if it’s possible to attach just some of the chat log messages between you and our employees just for others to see.

when it comes to your cost of over $26,000 in so call repairs and $10,000 for your self we have ask not one time but multiple times to send us the invoice but you never did.

Look forward to seeing you in court.
