Last year we closed our pool with Total Tech Pools and we trusted that being the professional pool ‘experts’ that they claimed they were, they treated the water with the appropriate chemicals for the winter period. (No they did not) This year we called them again to open the pool. Their ‘experts’ came to remove the safety cover, fold it, added (they say) 10 liters of chlorine in the water. When we returned home in the evening we were shocked by the view of our pool: filled up to the op with filthy water, and conglomerates of algae and clusters of things that I cannot even define as I have not seen them in our pool before. And they are still there, as the ‘experts’ have not removed them. I took pictures of the pool and sent them a fax that evening, however we have not received a response from them. We called Brian several times to follow up and he was always busy with customers. When he eventually came to the phone, he told us that what has happened with our pool is because we should have closed it later last year and opened it sooner this year. They never told us last year that we should close it later or open it sooner. Only when they came to open it we heard this for the first time. |Brian said that his ‘expert’ who came to assess our pool (I think that Brian should stop using this term as far as he and his staff are concerned), so this ‘expert’ told him that there is indeed a need for vacuuming and additional substance in the water but that should be charged on top of the pool opening price, as we had a warm winter and this is the reason for the algae conglomerates. I find this unbelievable; I find this is pure theft. To charge us $CAD213.50 before tax only to fold the cover, turn on the pump (just switch it on), and put in 10 liters of chlorine (which I very much doubt they did by the look of our pool today), I find this unacceptable. I am placing this review, so that other people who may want to hire Total Tech Pools for any job, should really think twice and do more research before they chose to go with them. There is no accountability on their part, they are not delivering on promise, there is no quality, and they are NOT the experts they claim to be. As far as we are concerned, Total Tech Pools lost a client.

Company Response

It is unfortunate to have to respond to this review when we are busy enough assisting our fantastic customers, however with the blatant lies outlined in Ms. Timothy's response Total Tech Pools felt obliged to respond. In September 2011 we were called to close the complainant’s pool after they had had their safety cover installed by another company. Safety covers are made of porous mesh material that allows fine debris and sunlight to penetrate through them, therefore it is advisable to close the pool as late as possible and open as early as possible. Upon arrival to close the pool our technicians noted that the pool was cloudy and added 10 litres of chlorine as part of our standard closing package, then added 10 litres upon opening of the pool. To claim that 10 litres of chlorine was not added at the closing and opening of the pool is simply inaccurate. Based on the lack of clarity of the water at closing along with the very warm winter and spring, it was not surprising as to the shape of the pool water at the opening on May 30th, 2012 despite adding our standard levels of chlorine.

As is common in the pool industry and clearly outlined in all our opening brochures and on our website vacuuming and clean-up of the pool including additional chemicals is not included in our opening packages. I have provided a link to our website which clearly outlines what is included in our 2012 opening packages: http://www.totaltechpools.com/oakville/bookings/pool-openings/ . Therefore I find it very difficult to understand and accept Ms. Timothy’s claim that charging extra for a vacuuming is “pure theft”.

Total Tech Pools is a member in good standing of both the Better Business Bureau and the Pool and Hot Tub Council, which both have dispute resolution procedures. We feel that if Ms. Timothy truly had a legitimate concern regarding the products and service she would have used this median. We pride ourselves on our high level of quality and service which over 10,000 clients would attest to. I am sorry that your experience was not pleasant however this posting is nowhere close to accurate. In this case, Total Tech Pools provided exactly what we promised and cannot be held responsible for Ms. Timothy’s lack of accountability towards her pool and unwillingness to pay to have a pool cleaning service provided. Any customers (new or existing) please do not hesitate to contact us to discuss any questions, concerns or problems.
