Pete,

Thank you very much for your review of the front porch addition.

One thing that is very important that we hear from clients all the time is that their contractor starts the job and then disappears for a while then returns for few days and that cycle repeats itself. We'll rest assured that will not happen if you hire us. We are there on your job every day from start to finish unless there are inspections or unforeseen delays.

We are really glad that you like the results. The new porch adds so much more practical and functional space to your home.

Thank you again and we will see you in the spring when we return to do some more renovations.

Thank you,

The entire Remodel Team.

Went with EU-CA Construction based on review and the professional, confident and fair onsite quote for a 24x10 cement patio in the backyard with a gravel parameter. Was so happy with the work in progress we also had them deal with the rest of the backyard by digging up all grass, leveling, laying sod and putting burlap/gravel around the perimeter for look and weed buffer from neighboring yards. Very happy with the results as it's completely transformed our backyard.

We were one of many Toronto homes that had our basement entirely flooded out during the “Rain Storm of the Century” back in July. To help prevent another city backup I decided to get a backflow valve installed. I did my usual thing and called the top five contractors on Homestars, got quotes while letting them know I was getting others and then make a selection. I have to say two of the highest rated, established, large franchise companies really appeared to be price gouging to take advantage of all the panic of the current situation and another two didn’t even want to bother scoping my drain to see the current state, they just wanted me to commit to installing the valve. I was still undecided on whom to go with when I noticed The Drain Man had been working on both the house across from me and next to me. I talked with Bill (Owner of The Drainman) who was supervising one of the projects. Just from looking over at my house he advised I was likely partially if not completely blocked up because I still had a main trap buried in my front yard (he could see the breather vent cap in my lawn) and large debris from the city was likely stuck in it. He grabbed his scope, checked the drain and sure enough I was backed up and on the verge flooding myself out. He went back to his truck, grabbed a really long plunging device, fed it down the breather in the front yard and plunged away for a moment. All of a sudden there was a loud BLUNK sound and you could hear water glugging away for the next minute. None of the other 5 plumbing companies even mentioned my trap could be plugged, not only did Bill catch this right away but he scoped and plunged it without even bringing up a fee, nor was one ever charged. I was sold. Not only did Bill/The Drain Man know what they were doing but unlike the feeling I got from the others they also weren’t in it just for a quick cash grab. I committed to having The Drain Man not only install a backflow valve but also remove the city trap since it was likely currently blocked up with large immovable debris pushed in from the city and even if it wasn’t it was a good idea to get it out of there. Anthony and Jason did the bulk of the work installing both the backflow valve and removing the old trap and replacing it with a double clean out. Just as Bill had predicted, the trap was 75% blocked up with large rocks and stick which had zero chance of being flushed out. Both John and Bill supervised the work and gave extra attention to the installation of the backflow valve and double clean outs. They also arranged for the city to inspect the installation of the backflow valve to help ensure I could get the city rebate for it. During the whole process every one of The Drain Man team was polite, friendly and respectful of our property. The work was completed within the estimated time frame and both areas were thoroughly cleaned up upon completion of the work. Bill and John also helped me fill out the backflow rebate form and I’m glad to report I received it about 6 to 8 weeks after mailing it out. Bill also popped by twice since the work was completed just to ensure I was happy with the service and if I had any questions about the maintenance of the backflow valve. From start to finish I was extremely happy with the honesty, efficiency and quality of service I received from The Drain Man. Not only was I impressed but so were my neighbors as the two houses north of me and three houses south of me also went with The Drain Man ] and everyone was also very satisfied. They may not be one of the big names on Home Stars but they’ve been around for over 35 years and that experience was very apparent in the work they’ve done for me. I strongly suggest anyone with drain issues does themselves a favor and at least has The Drain Man provide an assessment and estimate.

We had some water related chaos last summer and part if it was due to our eaves. One of our two downspouts was in a horrible location and connected to the city, our eaves were using the old spike mounts so there were quite a few gaps and worst of all we noticed it overflowing quite badly during heavy rain. I did my usual routine; contact the top five contractors on Home Stars, advise them I was seeking quotes from another five contractors, meet with them, and then let them provide their quote. We made contact with four of the five, only two had a receptionist that was able take my call live and immediately book a site inspection/quotation, and North Shore Eavestroughing was one of them. Their representative was polite, thorough and based his quote on a solution that fit my needs. North Shore was top rated at the time so I figured having them come first and quote on the premium solution (included the T-REX leave guard) would be my deluxe most expensive option. After I got the other three quotes the choice was simple considering North Shore’s quote was actually the lowest price. One of the other quotes was in the same ballpark for almost as good a solution but the other two weren’t even close. Needless to say I book my install with North Shore. We were expecting heavy rain the week before my scheduled install so out of panic I called North Shore and asked if they could squeak me in if at all possible. Darren got involved and really came through as he managed to have a crew come by the next day as they’d finished another project early. The two man install team were on time, friendly, and respectful of my property and conducted themselves in a professional manner. They finished on time and left my with a great looking product. It’s worth mentioning that because my house was slopped a certain way it made leveling the eaves to the two desired downspouts a little tricky, but they managed and even installed some flashing free of charge because it was the right thing to do and they wanted to ensure I was properly taken care of. A day later Darren came by in person just to inspect the install his crew did and to ensure I was happy. He took the time to walk the entire house and even made a minor tweak I requested. From start to finish I couldn’t be happier with the service and product I got from North Shore Eavestroughing. I’d highly recommend them and suggest anyone strongly considers them for their eavestroughing needs.

Thanks Pete for the awesome review. You have taken the time to explain your eavestrough project in a way that helps others who are considering replacing their eavestroughs. Hiring the right contractor is the most important factor in order to ensure a quality installation and folllow up after the project. We appreciate your business. Tony (head installer on your project) will be happy to read your kind words. Take care Darren

Last summer when I decided I really needed a 28x16 concrete pad across the back of the house I did my usual routine; contact the top five contractors on Home Stars, advise them I was seeking quotes from another four contractors, meet with them, and then let them provide their quote. Only three of the five responded and Raffy was the first of the three. We scheduled an appointment for a week down the road. Elite Designed Concrete were tops on Home Stars rating last summer so I was glad to schedule the other two contractor before meeting with Raffy. I figured they might offer the best service, but at the highest cost due to their excellent reputation. Not only was Raffy professional, confident and courteous, but I was pleasantly surprised he offered the best price… actually 10% lower than the runner up contractor. Before work started, Marcelo came by to take exact measurements and plan out the logistics. Work began on the date scheduled. The crew showed up nice and early getting to work without delay. Every crew member was professional, respectful of our property and very friendly. I happened to be moving my heat pump that day (unrelated project) and two of the guys ran over to help as soon as they saw the HVAC tech and me moving it. The project actually finished a day early and looked great. I also received a courtesy call from Marcelo a few weeks later just to ensure I was happy with the result and no issues had come up. It’s been a few months now and the concrete pad has held up great and despite being a basic brush finish (my choice) it has received many compliments from friends and neighbours. My only regret is not having gone with Elite Designed Concrete earlier. I’m pretty faithful to my system of having the top five Home Stars contractors bid on all my projects but any future concrete work will just go straight to Elite Designed Concrete.
