May 28, 2021 Revising my review from 0 stars to 5 stars. We contacted CAS (casreviews@caslp.ca) as per their response to the feedback posted on March 28. After looking into our situation, they refunded for the missing parts which we had to contact different vendors for. We are still not happy about the experience thus only gave 5/10, but we do appreciate the goodwill gesture to at least compensate for the non-functioning product. ------------- March 28, 2021 Hoping that this experience can help you avoid any unnecessary frustration from trusting CAS as your appliance retailer. My in-laws purchased over $12K worth of appliances from CAS in January 2021. This included a dishwasher, cooktop, oven, washer, dryer, refrigerator, and a ventilation hood. Two product issues arose: 1. The ventilation hood was a floor model, thus final sale. The sales rep told my in-laws that the hood was fully functional but just missing a couple of screws. Our expectation was that a floor model would have aesthetic damages and a few missing screws would be easy to replace, however it turned out that the critical parts for the installation were missing rendering the hood useless. We tried contacting CAS via email and phone for the missing parts or at least a refund since the product was falsely advertised, but they dismissed us. We ended up reaching out to an appliance service company for parts pricing and the missing parts were quoted for over $500. The total ended up being more expensive than a brand new ventilation hood. 2. Shipping of the dishwasher was delayed by two months only to be cancelled as CAS claimed it was out of stock, but it was in fact in stock but listed at a higher price. It would have been satisfactory if CAS had cancelled the order back in January, instead of two months later due to not wanting to honour the original listed price. This entire process was extremely frustrating, but the most dishonest part was when we sent a final email detailing our experience and asking for an escalation and nobody responded back. However, we received an immediate response within 1 business day when we inquired about assistance with new product purchases from a different email address. We have people in our network who have similar appliance budgets and were looking into CAS for bulk purchases, but have taken our recommendation to look elsewhere. If you need to purchase appliances, especially over $10K worth, we recommend that you check out larger retailers who offer price matching and know how to take care of customers throughout the entire process, and not just with the sales pitch. The discounts with CAS aren't worth the dishonesty and frustration. We hope that the other appliances delivered won't break down before warranty as they are supposed to be new, but our experience and other reviews are discouraging, so I guess this is all just an unfortunate and expensive learning opportunity for us. Please learn from our mistakes.
