We recently bought a home in Unionville with a beautiful and large basement, with a very dated bar and a non-functioning fireplace. We weren’t entirely sure how to make it work for us, but knew we needed warmth and a clean finish. Quoting process We contacted several places . Most didn’t return calls, or bail on the time we had set. Niall showed up quickly, did a quote and was very transparent around what to expect and who was accountable for what piece in the quote. (ie: we provided the fireplace, the fridge and sink). They made excellent proposals (that we had not yet considered) and we ended up going with them and made suggestions on how to best prepare the site to minimize dust Start The project started on time (in fact a few days earlier) and started with taping their main entry/traffic on our main floor with a thick barrier that I was able to both vacuum and Swiffer for the duration of the project. The demo was done in less then a day with very little dust and mess indoors. Staff Super friendly crew, very respectful of our privacy, our home and kiddies. They showed up when they said they would and after they started, they didn’t halt or pause until the job was finished (ie: no juggling of others/delays in ours). Quality of work All of them were clearly experienced carpenters and they made sure to make every effort to minimize cost and maximise our result. The bar has a beautiful 2 level quartz countertop and looks amazing. When they finished the job (mudding/sanding) they vacuumed and moped the floors before leaving. I’d highly recommend Niall and his crew to anyone looking for a beautiful project that requires experienced carpenters. They didn’t cut any corners and allowed us to fully enjoy our basement.

We recently purchased a new home and found that the patio required instant updating. We went through quotes ranging from wood decks, composite to interlock and we finally settled on interlock, for which we selected Shabatin. QUOTING PROCESS They proposed we meet after their workday, and were able to do this quickly. In spite of it being toasty out (and after their day ended) they were patient, friendly and took their time. They suggested a lay-out we hadn't considered yet, that ended up really maximizing our space QUOTE After we landed on interlock, we had done our research on the average price to install. Shabatin Interlock were entirely in line with our expectation, (and perhaps even a little less) without the "$600 to cut the bottom of the gate" line items included. The quote was done on the spot. They were able to get us in relatively early too. TIMELINES Once we agreed, the contract was issued same day, with a date scheduled the next day. From there, the team came a day early for the demolition of the existing deck and wrapped up early, in spite of bad luck with the weather and us tossing additional items their way (they fixed a gate that showed cracking and simply wasn't structurally safe anymore and increased the drainage from the home). WORK AND ASSOCIATES Every step of the process was a good experience. Alex was super helpful with the esthetics while Bess, Costa & team treated our home and property as if it was their own. There wasn't any cutting corners and the focus on the detail the team had is just incredible. They reseeded the edge of our patio (which had gotten some wear from the equipment) and tidied up everything (and then some) from the existing deck and previous owners. The edges were done so incredibly precise! The end result is absolutely stunning, done on time, within budget and you can't tell work occurred (landscaping was left in immaculate condition). We are very happy with our new patio and we can't wait for our new furniture to arrive so we can enjoy this. Thank you for creating a long term, beautiful solution for us!

Michael was amazing from the beginning and was very detailed in his explanation. To retain as much of our existing floorplan/cause little disruption, he went above and beyond on the installation. Within a few hours of the install, our radon measures dropped (from the thousands!) to a 1 in my main floor, a 21 in my basement. I can't begin to explain how much relief the install has brought to me. Don't let the low number of reviews get in the way of calling them, instead, give them a call and have it quoted out. I am confident the price will be better, the install quicker and most of all: better done.

In the past few weeks, we wrapped our third, and hopefully final major renovation. Having been exposed to a number of different contractors and tradesmen over the past 5 years, my husband and I were beyond picky during the selection process. Only those highest rated on home stars were called and eventually we went with Zaza Contractors. We didn’t because the were the cheapest but because we felt throughout the quoting, we were listened to and we spoke only to experts. We had 4 visits – a plumbing expert, general contractor, a window specialist: no expense was spared to just come up with a quote. Once the project started, it became crystal clear why they are a) highest rated and b) rely heavily on word of mouth. Fred, Guido & team exceeded our wildest expectations. From early in the morning (each day the arrival was before 8AM) until we returned home after work, a full crew was working on our home. By the time they left, they had cleaned up our home so that you could barely tell we were in the middle of renovations. Guido & team treated our home as his own and went above and beyond to maximize space in our master bedroom. Early on in the game, Fred told us his team “doesn’t breath on another job until the one they are at is completed” – and I assure you: he wasn’t kidding around. I have never seen this happen, nor have I heard of it. During the project, we remained on budget (and had a bunch of little extra’s added) and timelines were exactly as communicated. Zaza was truly pleasure to work with, start to finish. They are competitively priced, only have experts, stick to their budget and timelines and beyond that: they are the nicest, most experienced crew we ever had the pleasure of working with.
