9/10

My A/C wasn't working (was 22 yrs old) and we decided to replace at least it the a/c and look also into a new furnace. Called 5 HVAC companies for quotes. Reliance was the only one that actually did a load calculation to size a replacement unit (one company didn't even return my call to give a quote even with 3 messages and another company didn't even set foot in the house and just gave a verbal price after just looking at the condenser outside). So of course I went with Reliance cause Murray Stark was able to support his recommendation based on an actual calculation> He was great to deal with and very accomodating as I had 3 kids in the house that kept distracting me while he was here. He explained the prices and everything very clearly and booked my install with minimal wait. Dave and Christine did the install and were great even though they had to come back a couple of business days later to finalize the A/C coil installation (was to big so had to fabricate a housing for it). So far the furnace and A/C are doing great. Haven't gotten a hydro bill yet to see what kind of savings I got with a more energy efficient unit. The tankless hot water heater was installed by a sub contractor of Reliance. The only reason I did not give Reliance a 10 out of 10 was because when the hot water heater guys were installing the water heater they must have turned off the furnace at the power switch in the furnace room and never turned it back on. The house started to heat up and the A/C wasn't coming on. I thought it was the thermostat (new one was installed too) and I spent over an hour trying to figure out on my own why it wasn't working and thought the brand new furnace and a/c (5 days old) was broke. I was not happy and just about to call Reliance to have them send someone to fix it when I notice something similar to a light switch on the ceiling above the furnace and saw it was in the off position. A/C fired up as soon as I switched the switch to on. Glad I was able to solve it myself then have a repair guy from Reliance waste their time to drive an hour to flick a switch. So for my 1 hour of aggravation I docked 1 star. Overall I am very pleased with Reliance and would recommend anyone in the London area needing a a furnance/air conditioning or a tankless water heater to call and ask for Murray Stark. He'll look after you, great guy. Also Dave and Christine were very friendly, effiecient and all around great especially with my 2 oldest kids asking them tons of questions.

Approximate cost of services:
$10,000.00
What could this company do to improve their services?
Would be great if they did the tankless water heater install themself instead of sub'ing it out (even though the sub did a good job-other then forgetting to turn my furnace a/c back on.
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Get several quotes and make sure to not be afraid to ask questions so you can compare apples to apples and to see how they arrived at their recommendation on the sizing and brand.
