I purchased a blind from Budget Blinds in 2016. It broke within 6 months. We made repeated calls to Budget Blinds and each time we were told someone would call us, but no one ever did. So the blind remained broken. Now, over 2 years later I received a call from a collection company claiming I owed Budget Blinds money - I do not. I had to pay the amount to the collection company or it would have gone against my credit score. So now I have had to order the cheque from my bank to prove that I paid the amount in full in 2016. I never once received an invoice or call that I had not paid the bill. If they had ever returned our calls about the repair to the blind they could have mentioned that they thought I owed them money. Do not deal with this company - save yourself the hassle and get a company that will provide you with blinds that actually work.

Dear Rhonda,

We are sorry you had an issue with the valance on your blind.

Our records indicate that we came to your home shortly after installation to repair one return on your valance. The blind itself was functioning well. We received one additional phone message on April 17, 2016 indicating the valance return had come off again. We returned your call leaving a message asking you to contact us to set up a time to do the repair. We are unaware of any further calls you made to our office.

The account balance was to be paid at the time of installation, and according to our records continued to be outstanding until last week. If our records are incorrect we will immediately provide a refund of the additional payment collected and any costs incurred with a heartfelt apology.

We have an excellent customer service reputation, which we continue to work hard to maintain. Your 5 year ‘No Questions Asked’ warranty and lifetime warranty on mechanical parts are still in effect, and we would be happy to deal with all repair issues now and in the future.

I had a bathroom reno done by another company and the plumbing was leaking and poorly done. Patrick from DS plumbing fixed all the issues and installed the plumbing properly. He did an excellent job and provided outstanding service. I won't go anywhere else for any plumbing needs after receiving such great service.

I replaced my former alarm company with Canadian Security Team. They responded to our queries in a very timely manner and provided great service to repair the portions of the alarm system that needed upgrading. Good value at $19.95 per month for monitoring services.

My experience with Mermaid pools was terrible. After them breaking numerous promises regarding the installation of our pool and not even showing up at our house, or returning our calls I cancelled the pool and they refused to return even a portion of the deposit, despite having done no work.

Dear Mermaid customers,
In this particular case, the experience for Rhonda and our company was unpleasant and unfortunate. We acknowledge that our communication with her in terms of scheduling could have been better. Mermaid apologized to her in person for this. At the time of planning the pool installation, there were weather delays. However, what could have been a substantial delay due to heavy rain would in reality only have been a few days because of our efforts to expedite the install. We explained this to Rhonda. Our pool installation schedule is often at the mercy of bad weather – a reality of a seasonal business - but we do our best to avoid long delays. The customer is upset that Mermaid did not return her deposit, which I understand. However, we had ordered, paid for and had the pool kit delivered to Mermaid by the manufacturer with the understanding that we were to install Rhonda’s pool. We saw no reason to return her deposit as the company would have been out of pocket and had not violated any terms of the contract. In fact, the contract clearly states that installation dates are subject to weather conditions. In the future, we’ll strive to communicate more effectively with our valued customers and regret what has transpired. Thanks for reading,
