Hired Mr. Interlock in Nov 2018 for the following jobs: interlock patio and interlock side pathway which was done well, to install new Kentucky Blue grass sods on the east side and 2 garden plots on both sides of my backyard. During winter, I can’t see the new sods and the 2 new garden plots. After snow gone, in early spring, the sods look patchy, grass didn’t grow evenly even though I sprayed Golfgreen Bio-feed & Weed free fertilizer once every month. The 2 garden plots don’t have enough soil depth for roots to establish. The sods & garden soils were weed infested. I removed the black tarp from the garden plots so I can fill it with good quality soil & that’s when I found out the terrible job that was done. On the west side garden plot, there’s 3 meters long, 4 inches wide wide, 6 inches deep of canal. No garden soil filled in the canal. They just covered it with black tarp, then filled it with one-inch depth of soil on top of the tarp. There’s also a big, wide & deep hole, with some gravel dumped into the wide hole, then covered it with tarp, and an inch depth of soil on top of the tarp. This is a follow up of my first review & to adjust the rating that I gave to Mr Interlock with fair consideration on the job well done of the interlock patio & interlock of the side pathway. On Aug 3, Amir came over to see the issues I mentioned in my first review. I much appreciated Amir’s efforts to reach feasible resolution to all issues. As I had mentioned earlier in my review, the interlock jobs on the patio and side pathway was done beautifully. In this aspect, it’s fair that I shld give Mr Interlock better rate of 8 instead of 3 broken down as follows: 5 for interlock job, 3 for sods & garden plots. We had reached the following resolutions: additional excavation of the west side garden plot & fill it with at least 5-6 inches depth of garden soil at no extra cost charges. Removed the installed sods & replace it with new sods, cost not yet determined by Amir. I decided to extend the patio interlock all the way to the front of the shed, which cost hasn’t been determined yet. Over all, Amir will give me cost estimate of additional interlock & installation of new sods on the east side of my house. Once these resolutions would be done nicely, there’s no reasons why I wouldn’t give Mr Interlock a perfect 10 conditional on the completion of the resolutions both me & Amir had agreed upon. For now, I just wait & see if these resolutions will be done sooner than later. I’m planning to have my front yard landscaped next year. If Mr Interlock will do a good job on these resolutions, I might reconsider of re-hiring them again with renewed trust because Amir has that conscientious efforts to do better in meeting client’s satisfaction Jan 13, 2020 - Updated Review on Mr. Interlock Landscape This is a follow up of my 1st review given to Mr Interlock Landscape in May 2019. Amir & I discussed issues that were my concerns of the job done. The resolutions are: continuity of the interlock stones all the way to the shed, excavation, removal & replacement of the garden soil on the 3 garden plots, removal & replacement of the patchy sod with Kentucky bluegrass. I’m deeply grateful to Amir & his crews for making my project a priority in resolving all my concerns, in satisfying & meeting my expectations. With this I highly recommend Mr Interlock for being a reliable, dependable & responsible company, who cares of their clients.

Thank you, Mila for your feedback. At Mr. Interlock Landscape & Construction we are committed to delivering a superb service and experience to our customers. This has been validated by the collection of positive reviews we have amassed over the years. If you feel as though we fell short on our commitment to do so, I do apologize and I intend to sit down with you to understand and mitigate your concerns. A few days ago I received a link to an email with your review and as you can imagine I was taken back by your experience. Since then I have called you, emailed you and last night stopped by your house to meet with you, all to no avail. This is how committed we are to our customer experience, we don’t want to let another day go by with you being dissatisfied.

Out of respect for our company and our 10 years in business, there are a few things I do need to highlight.

> We began your project in November and due to weather constraints, I was unable to complete your project on my original projected completion date. We experienced an unusual amount of rain mixed with a light snow combination and unfortunately, that impeded our timelines by 7-8 days. This is not something that was within our control. However; our commitment to showing up whenever the weather allowed us to was in our control and we did just that.

> The Kentucky Blue Sod, triple mix and compressed topsoil that were used on your project were purchased from Fair Greens Sod Farm which is one of the largest and most reputable sod farms in Ontario.

> It states in our contract that we do not warrant sod and planting as its success is contingent on a variety of variables that are outside of our control. Some variables include but are not limited to, homeowner watering, homeowner maintenance, pets, insects, pest and weather. No sod in the market provides anti-weed growth as this falls under the perpetual maintenance category that any homeowner will have to do on their lawns.

> The black material you describe in your review is landscape fabric which is naturally used for a variety of reasons on a landscape project. Some reasons include drainage, being a separation barrier between gravel and soil to name a few.

> All excavation depths including gardens are pre-discussed before us beginning construction. Furthermore; we do daily scope validations where we show you progress on finished installations and builds. We do this to address any concerns during construction rather than post-construction.

> If there ever are any concerns we are accessible via email, phone or text and typically respond to our clients within 24 hours.

Although there are several things that we found to be inaccurate in your detailed account of events, out of respect for you I don’t want to continue to attempt to debunk your entire experience. I would rather sit you with and work on a resolution because at the end of the day your satisfaction is all that matters to us.

Hoping to hear from you soon.

My house is 50 plus years old and I learned from internet that over a period of time, cemented walls and foundations will soon crack that will cause basement flooding. This alerted my concerns and had planned to do basement waterproofing. Before executing my plan, I studied and learned about interior and exterior waterproofing. I learned about signs and causes of basement flooding. I concentrated on exterior waterproofing which the best plan suited for my case. I saw and listened videos on the steps and process in basement waterproofing. I am a cautious and conscientious homeowner. To avoid being taken advantage as there are many contractors that take advantage of ignorant and innocent homeowner, I did my research and learn the work to be done, the materials being used and contacted at least 5 contractors. When you do your own research, you'll be able to follow and understand what the contractors are talking about. I got these 5 contractors quotes and analysed and compared them, which quotes are comparatively the same. I had chosen a contractor that will do everything that I wanted to be done, and that was Canada Waterproofers. Not only they quoted me reasonable price but also willing to do other stuffs such as replacing the 3-year old sump pump with a back-up battery. They also installed a trench drain and new catch basin in the end of my driveway as it is slopping down from the street level that cause water puddles & flooding. They also fix my dryer vent which have been almost at the ground level. During winter, fallen snow would blocked this dryer vent. Canada Waterproofer installed PVC pipe extending upward, elevating the dryer vent one foot height. All these works were done in 5 days. Basement waterproofing was manually done, hand-digging around the perimeter of my house due to gas pipe line. I am very satisfied and happy of the work done. I would not hesitate to recommend this company for waterproofing and other plumbing work. The team of Carl and Stewart did an excellent job. I would be proud to highly recommend them.

Complete replacement of all windows brick-to-brick, 4 bedrooms, washrooms, 3 basement windows, 1 big dining window, 1 big living window converted to a patio door, kitchen window converted to bow window. Clean up after the job was excellent but it's pricey. It took 4 days to complete the jobs. All windows were installed were very good except for my bedroom. Every part of the house is warm except for my bedroom which is the coldest of all the rooms installed. I noticed 2 inches of condensation from the bottom of the window which I notified Mike about it. I even sent him the picture of the condensation as a proof. I want to know what's the cause of the condensation of my bedroom window. Mike didn't return my call. My theory is that maybe there's no enough foam sprayed at the bottom of the window sill. I want to know if this can be fixed. With the money I paid, I deserved an answer to my queries, whether this problem can be fixed. Since I already paid them fully, I doubt if the company will still give me a call or would fix the problem. Too sad that they didn't reply back to me. Windows installed were of good quality products and installation job was good except for my bedroom window. Both bow window and the patio door were done very well. Excellent job on that.

In 2014, I did extensive research about insulation and learned that there are different types of insulation such as fiber glass, blown-in cellulose, and for spray foam, there is Icynene, BASF and soya spray foam. I was looking for eco-friendly and less toxic spray foam materials. In June 2014, I had my attic insulated with Polarfoam soya pray foam. This year, I had my home pre-audited and inspected to find out why it had been extremely cold during winter season. It was found out that my house was built in the 70's and there were no insulation at all in the walls. Between the brick and drywall was a cemented wall wrapped with plastic tarp and about 2 inches depth between spaces. I decided to put insulation on 3 bedrooms and the living room areas to improve the comfort level and temperature inside the house. I didn't realized this entailed a big job project. The drywall have to be torn down, remove the plastic tarp, install 2x4 studs along the walls to create some 3 inches depth for sprayfoam insulation be applied. I made an extensive researched looking for insulation companies that are reliable, honest, does a good job and of reasonable price. As usual, I'm leaning towards environmentally friendly spray foam. Not many are carrying soya spray foam. In the past years, in 2014, when I did roof replacement, attic insulation and gutter, sofit, facia and downspouts, I only rely on Homestars. It takes time for me to start a project cause I have to be cautious and careful in hiring contractors for I don't know these contractors that's why I have to read the the reviews and comments of previous clients of the contractors. If the company have many good reviews and the rating is between 9 and 10, I would contact them and request for quotes and many inquiries about the project when talking with them. I do comparative shopping of contractors, to determine who has the most reasonable price and do good job performance. I had chosen Everest Insulation for they ave good track records of their job performance. George and his helper came on time, did the job in 3 hours and did good clean up after the job. They covered the floors, the ceiling and the sides of the walls to prevent the spray foam to settle on the surfaces if there is a spill over of the spray foam which may happen sometimes. There were no spill overs and scraps on the surfaces. The job was superbly and professionally done in due time by 2 workers. Anyone looking for eco-firendly spray foam, I highly recommend Everest Insulation Inc. Thank you George for a job well done!!

Three Doctors had done excellent jobs in cutting my huge Chinese elm tree in May - 2 people with hands joined together on the trunk. Justin and his crew with their skills, systematically and methodically cut down this tree and did the clean up, you would not noticed that this job had occurred. Second time, Three Doctors cut down the hedges 110 ft long between properties of mine and my neighbour. Three weeks after, the stumps were removed. John did an excellent job removing the stumps and the other 2 guys who cut down the hedges. I have a good rapport with Olga and Thia from the office whom I constantly called for queries and for following up of schedules. They are always friendly, understanding of your needs and quick to answer my queries. By the way, I recommended Three Doctors to my neighbour who had their tree cut down last July 8. I had contacted several tree service companies. When looking for any services whether roofing, insulation and tree services, I'm always cautious in choosing the right company for the right price and good services. I'm just relying on reviews and feed backs on the company's previous clients. I got all my contractors for re-roofing, attic insulation and gutter, sofit, facia and gutter replacement work from HomeStars last 2014. This year, I had chosen Tree Doctors to do the job in preparation for our fencing projects with my neighbours and also spray foam insulation with Everest company. Tree Doctor's price is not cheap neither expensive. Their price levels are comparative with other companies. What is important is the kind of services being provided and that you feel good about the jobs that were done for you. Anyone looking for tree services, I highly recommend Three Doctor for this type of services. Koodos to all the skilled staffs of Three Doctors.

Hello Mila,

It was a pleasure working with you. Thank you for your recommendation to your neighbour, this is the best way for our business to grow.

Finding a reliable and honest contractor was not easy. I have some reservations due to the bad news I heard for those fallen victims on scrupulous and dishonest contractors. I was very cautious in choosing the right contractor when I started this project. I did an extensive research on facia, soffit and eavesthrough system. I educated myself to learn and understand what steps involved in this project. I called several contractors and ask many questions about eavesthroughing. I got at least 6 quotes and set these quotes in a spreadsheet for me to easy to compare each one's features and the quoted prices. My house is a semi-detached one. I shared all the info that I researched to my neighbor for her to be able to make the right decision with me. We finally decided to go with Westwood Aluminum was the best choice, the one with most reasonable price and have very good reviews at Homestars. Tony and his team came on time and did the work in 2 days. First day was installation of soffit and facia under the newly installed roof. On the 2nd day, 2-team guys did the eavesthroughs and the downspouts. This was done and completed in less than 4 hours. The workmanship was excellent and the surroundings were cleaned up well. I would definitely recommend Westwood Aluminum to all my friends and colleagues. Thank you Tony and to your crew for an excellent job. Keep up the good work guys!! Thanks - Mila

When I planned to replace the whole roof systems: roof, eavestjtough, attic insulation, I was skeptical and anxious because of the news I heard about scrupulous and dishonest contractors. Finding one was not easy for me for I don't rely on referrals alone. What I did is to understand all about the whole roofing systems by doing an intensive research about roofing, attic insulation and eavesthroughing. I studied and immersed myself what does roofing entails, what are the steps involved in roof replacement. I learned different types of roofing such as metals, tiles, shingles, etc. Also, there are different kinds of shingles and brand names. I also learned how to calculate how much singles you need once you got your square footage of the roof. This knowledge helps me understand when I am talking with the contractors and be able to follow through whatever they were telling me. My philosophy in life is that ignorance is not an excuse and also to avoid being ripped off and taken advantage of dishonest contractors you got to educate yourself about this matter which are accessible from the internet. I kept these materials as my guide when I started contacting and talking to contractors to make sure that quotes are not overpriced. Besides, I also checked these contractors at BBB and at Homestars. It took me one month to get all the data that I needed for these projects. My house is a semi-detached unit and every bit of info I shared with my neighbor so she too be well informed because we have to do this together and she be able to make right decisions with me. I also set all these data in a worksheet so I can see clearly the comparative features and prices of these contractors. Finally, we made the decision to go with Mega City Roofing Inc after careful analysis and evaluation of this company. Big money is involved in this project and this is going to be done once for a long, long time. Tom and his crew came on time on July 9 and I watched all day long how the work was being done. After the old plywood and shingles were removed, I made sure that work is done the way it should be, according to the materials I read from the internet. The underlayment was put in place, then the 6 ft ice & water shield, the drip edge and then shingles were nailed down to the plywood. From 8 AM to 6 PM, the work was completed. They also put the vents and the turbine on both houses. From the distance, the roof looked very nice. By the way, I chose hunter green which my neighbor disagreed at the beginning. When the work was completed, she was also happy about the result. The color has so much in depth and richness. I am very satisfied for the excellent job these guys did and I am happy that I chose this company to replace the roof. The whole team work in unity and very professional. I would strongly recommend Mega City to anyone who reads my review and to all my friends and colleagues. Thanks to Tom and his crew. Keep up the good work guys!! Thanks - Mila
