2/10

I am completely disgusted and disillusioned with Starward homes of Hamilton Ontario. I had a house built by them in Harbourtown in Fort Erie Ontario. The price seemed very reasonable. Proves the old saying "you get what you pay for". I'll start from the ground up. The framers placed the windows in the front of the house a foot higher than house plans called for. This left the tops of the windows very close to the ceiling. Three other identical models in the project were OK. This was corrected by the company in a very untimely matter. It took almost two months after I closed on the place to get the interior work finished. The framers used lumber for the floor joists that did not have a flat surface on them. The joist was rounded because it was the outside of the tree. Whole sections of subfloor were not fastened to the joists. I repaired this myself as I did the flooring myself. The subfloor was exposed to the elements and at several places, the floor was swollen about one and inches making the application of wood flooring impossible. The interior was painted the night before the inspection. An all niter. The hallway has 16 ft ceilings and is covered with dry roller marks. The patio door would not close tightly. Turns out the bottom locking pin was sheered off. This did not happen here. Was this a returned door? Many gaps in the trim woodwork. One two inches wide. House closed in November and to date (May 22nd) the grading and sodding have not been completed. Some of these items have been rectified, but I am still living with about a dozen ongoing deficiencies. The PDI was completed under protest while workers were still working on the interior and exterior of the house. This is just a sampling of the existing problems.
