I was originally going to ship goods to US and Fred Hawthorne at Abbeywood was recommended by a friend to organize crossborder paperwork and ensure safe transport. I would up storing the stuff and then having it delivered to my Toronto home. I was very worried about very fragile porcelain figurines and large antique furniture. It was worth every penny to have a team professionally pack and unpack my delicate, breakable items with care, not a scratch or chip. It was challenging to bring my large pieces down a narrow staircase . They even took the large boxes away for me. I am easily stressed so I need movers to stay calm and give moral support; Fred, Jacki in the office, and the moving team (Aaron and Mitch) are skilled professionals who also maintained good humour and patience and helped keep me calm. Highly recommended!

I was extremely stressed out by my mother's illness and other "stuff" happening in my life, and lucked out when I found Emerald....no muss, no fuss, total expertise/integrity. The bill was established up front, with no hidden extras. Lots of TLC shown to my belongings and thought given to the safest, and still time efficient, moving strategies. Dave even packed up for me, at a very reasonable cost, a service which should be currently available. (He doesn't pack the most fragile pieces, such as figurines, but he gave me extremely detailed instructions, demonstrated how, and supplied all packing materials at low cost.) Dave takes a lot of pride in his work and works quickly and carefully with his assistant, Mike. Dave is a "professional" in the best sense of the word. He treated my move as though it was the most important event on the planet that day. He handled everything with calm efficiency and managed to minimize my own huge anxiety. Not everything I have was easy to move but Dave relishes a challenge and his long time experience really shows. I'd use Emerald again in a heartbeat.

I was a woman "on the verge" because I had a very limited time to transform my clutter-filled condo into a sale-worthy space. (I had to return to the States due to a family emergency.) My two "sons" were hard-working, patient, supportive and calm in the face of my being NOT calm! They dismantled my bed, put together and filled many boxes with my stuff, helped me move heavy books, hung pictures, brought order out of chaos and kept me sane. Oh, and my condo sold on the very first day. When I return to Toronto, I will depend on Rent-a-Son to help me prepare for my move.
