Review from HomeOwner Review left on 2 Jan 2014Rating: 5 out of 5We were extremely pleased with Craig, the owner of this tree service. He runs a busy practice and some waiting is required to avail his service; however, when he arrived, his work was thorough, professional and we felt at ease with his recommendations and quality of work. As luck would have it, he got to our tree a couple of weeks prior to the ice storm and hence saved us a potential headache with managing through the storm. We will definitely consider him for our future work and comfortably recommend his work. Thank you CraigReview from HomeOwner HomeOwner
Review left on 21 Dec 2013Rating: 5 out of 5Branch removal
I could hear the chain saw in my neighbours yard. The hedges had not been cut for 34 years, so they were dangerously leaning on my house. Craig and his crew were trimming the branches. I asked for a favor. In my backyard, the apricot tree made a good bridge for squirrels to jump on my roof, where they could ruin the tiles. Craig came in 5 minutes with a short chain saw mounted on a long arm. He cut the branch in 20 seconds, and did not want to be paid. Finished, neat, no problem. It was a problem for me as a senior lady, but for him it was just "Veri, bidi, vici". So, dear Craig, most obliged.Review from HomeOwner HomeOwner

Craig brought his crew right away after hearing a branch was hanging 4 storey high by a tread. They were courteous, efficient, and clean. They gave an honest price that was very reasonable, and as we decided to prune more branches, we negotiated another price that would be hard to beat. Their work is neat and they are a pleasure to work with. Craig gives honest advise and I really respect that.Review from HomeOwner HomeOwner
Review left on 6 Nov 2013Rating: 5 out of 5removal of a dead overhanging tree limb
I couldn't be more satisfied with Craig and his crew. The consultation was clear and useful, the work was excellent, the clean-up was super, and the price extremely reasonable. On a personal level, Craig and his employees were courteous, honest, and hard-working. We had a very large, long limb of a neighbour's tree hanging vertically over our back yard. Over the past year, we've watched more and more of its branches stripped of bark, and old dead bits of wood falling off during storms. Some branches were actually hanging quite precariously and we decided enough was enough. We contacted Craig and he suggested removing the limb altogether. After the work was complete, he stuck to the quote he'd provided us, even though more work was required than he'd anticipated. I will be highly recommending his services to friends and relatives.Review from HomeOwner HomeOwner

Once again Craig and his CB tree service has done an excellent job of removing a hazard portion of a soft maple overhanging our house and our neighbours. His crew trimming back the same tree, removed another chinese elm beside our house and trimmed an additional chinese elm which was too big to cut down without a permit. Craig was speedy, knowledgeable and professional. His crew did a great job of clean up too.Answer from pro:
Thank you so much for the kind review and for bringing us back to your property to care for your trees. Please consider yourself one of our preferred customers and we look forward to coming back again. Until then, all the best, Craig.

Review left on 23 Sep 2013Rating: 5 out of 5Pruning
We have a very shady back yard with quite a bit of tree cover. A Japanese Maple that was planted there was slowly dying. Upon consultation with a horticulturist it was suggested we try and prune the surrounding trees to give the maple room to "breathe". Out of all the quotes I requested Craig, with CB Tree Service, was the only one to offer service beyond the pruning of the trees I originally requested. He not only pruned my trees but removed some offending branches from neighbouring yards (especially those among the power lines) to really open up the space and allow quite a bit more sunlight into the area. He then suggested that next spring I try a liquid fertilizer as well as spikes to try and bring the maple back to life. The work was done expediently and the area left clean and tidy. Overall a great experience. Thanks Craig!Answer from pro:
Sharon thank you so much for the kind words and for posting this review. The yard looks great now and much brighter after the pruning, I'm pleased with the results. I hope the Japanese maple tree does much better now with all the extra sunshine. Good luck with the garden and thank you very much for the work. All the best, Craig.

I have mixed feelings about this CB Tree Service. Overall: if you need emergency service, these guys will be likely be the first on site. But just expect that you will have to monitor they all the time. Project: massive tree (12 meters high, around 80 years old) felt down. Tree felt on Monday evening, they started job on Wednesday afternoon, finished on Friday evening. The good: they did an emergency service on a pretty complex project. The bad: all sorts of things 1) They did not explain that they would leave the wood of the trunk behind or that they would be big pieces. I did ask about the removal of it, but that was extra. What I was left with was around 3-4 tones of logs; some of these were 100-120 kg so even moving them was not an option. I had to rent the chainsaw next day to just cut all of the big pieces. Plus the removal of that was also quite expensive. 2) They broke bunch of patio stones when they thrown the wood on them. Eventually they realized that and moved the patio stones away. When I asked them if they will put it back, there was a confrontation. Eventually they did placed them back but very sloppy. 3) The guy was constantly asking for money order. I did not like that. His argument was that he had to pay the workers at the end of the week and need the money now. Well, there is something wrong with this company if they need money orders and have no cash in the bank. 4) On the second day they just left the job site in the middle of the day. They did secure the tree so it won't fall or anything. Why: according to them, it was too hot. I am sure they went on another job site but that was not really satisfying when I came back on Thursday evening and so not a big progress.Answer from pro:
Allexee ,quite simply, you are not telling the truth. Your review is so inaccurate, I'd like to set the record straight and respond to your criticisms about our service. 1) Before we accepted the job, all of the details about the removal were laid out and explained to you before work began, because it wasn't your property and you were looking after the project for the homeowner who was out of the country. You were quite aware that the pieces of wood would be cut to firewood lengths and left on site as you requested. We offered to dispose of the wood for you for a small fee, but you declined, stating that you had arranged a junk removal service to remove the wood. The wood was left behind as per your instructions. 2 )We did not break a single patio stone, that is an outright lie.The truth is that we explained to you before work began, that the patio stones could not withstand the impact of the falling pieces of wood as the tree was being cut, and we asked you to move the stones before we began work. You asked us to do it for you and we did on our own time and for no additional charges. The slabs were old and rotten, many were cracked and broken from wear and the expanding root system of the tree. We also explained to you that we would be unable to place the broken stones back in their original position and that we had not included this extra work in the original estimate. I'm sorry if you felt that was a confrontation, it was merely a fact. In any case when the removal was finished I asked the crew to replace the stones anyway, on our own time and at no cost to you, simply because we didn't want to leave you with a big mess. I'm sorry if you found this free service sloppy. I should have left the moving and replacing of 40 to 50 seventy pound patio slabs for you to do, please forgive me. 3) We never asked you for a money order at all, that is totally untrue. We did however explain that we expected payment on completion of work. You agreed to pay us a certified cheque when we finished and you did not keep your agreement. We had to phone you several times with many missed appointments before we were finally paid. You then asked us to remove a second tree which required a permit, and even under the threat of a bad review, we decided not to do any more work for you. We prefer to work for people who appreciate our dedication to our craft and our quest for service excellence. We don't mind doing something for nothing on occasion when it is appreciated, in fact it's a pleasure. What you probably aren't aware of is that we did such an amazing job removing your tree from such a dangerous situation, we were featured in the national post newspaper that day (See:national post newspaper August 30, 2013 article titled " how cutting down trees can be one of the most dangerous jobs" Tthe photographer attended your property that day to take the pictures. It"s too bad you weren't there. 4) To avoid the risk of accident or injury,we wrapped up early that day because the humidex was 42 degrees.,and the men were becoming fatigued. It is dangerous to perform this work when you are less than one hundred percent and we decided to err on the side of caution to be safe and no, we didn't go off and do another job elsewhere, we were totally exhausted. It's clear to me that you didn't appreciate the fine service you were given and unfortunate that you feel you have to lie to discredit our company. I'm sorry you have mixed feelings about us but my feelings are absolutely clear. Shame on you.

We needed to have a tree cut down in our yard so I went to Homestars looking for a couple of tree service providers that were highly recommended by customers. I contacted a couple of companies and found they were not reliable. CB Tree Service clearly stood out. The many comments about CB really reinforce a professional, friendly, responsive, reliable, and quality service organization provided by Craig and his very competent team. The quote for the job was reasonable and the job was completed according to schedule. Not only was the tree cut down, the wood was cut up, neatly piled and the clean-up job was perfect. I really do believe CB Tree Service should be held as a model of a quality service organization. Excellent job!Answer from pro:
Thank you so much for the kind words Pat. We are grateful for every review we receive. Please be assured that you or your friends can expect the same service if you ever need our help again in the future. Until then, All the best! Craig

The service was first rate - called on Tuesday for a quote on removing a cracked brach on my locust tree that was hanging over the pool. They came out the same day and said they could do the job the next day. The limb was removed AND the tree was trimmed. The crew was pleasant, did an amazing clean up job, cut up the wood for firewood and my pool was still clean. Will definitely call them again. By the way called around a few other places and it would of been a week before I could even get a quote!Answer from pro:
I'm pleased we were able to help and very grateful for the kind review. Please call again. All the best, Craig.
