I actually find it alarming how many people find me to be so detailed and that I take the time to go through things with people. Shouldn't all home inspectors be doing the same ? From what I've heard time and time again, apparantly not. I just heard a story yesterday that the people had a inspection performed on their home and the inspector from the buyers went into the attic, found an issue, told them it was a major structural issue, didn't bother to take a picture of it, and didn't even give the buyers a report. This scared everybody and the deal did not go through because of this. The sad part is, this is a well respected home inspector in the industry !!! How do people understand if you don't tell them, explain it to them, and show them pictures for proof ??? Totally unprofessional! Anyways, no more bickering ... Thank you so much for the review Shiv! Well, was that not an interesting inspection! All was well until we got to the electrical wiring in the basement. Isn't just amazing what people will do. I mean really, did this person even have a clue? The wiring looked like a bowl of spaghetti, they broke just about every electrical code in the book, then weren't willing to believe there was a problem with it? I mean really. People always think "what a piece of cake this will be for ya", and it's like, no, new homes take longer to inspect than 100-year-old homes! It's amazing how many people for-go the inspection and just go ahead and purchase a home. Good grief, how many people have I done inspections for where they call me up and tell me they have are having problems with a home that they had bought without an inspection. Now I'm not going to use fear on people here, but it's like, wow, with the amount of money you are spending on the home, the last thing you want to do is to pass on the inspection! I try to give helpful hints whenever possible because I know that sometimes little things can lead into big things. Sometimes things that seem big are a simple fix. Remember a home inspector should be looking out for your best interests and keeping in mind your wallet. If I feel confident that people can save money by trying inexpensive methods first before dishing out a bunch of money for things, I will tell them. There is nothing better than telling people "don't worry, this is a simple fix", and the smile that goes on their face. Granted, there is nothing worse than telling them..."yesh...this isn’t good" ... and sometimes that will happen too. Thanks again Sean, and thank you for choosing Classic Home Inspections!

Thank you so much for the kind words and review Kevin!!! Ahhh the pre-listing inspection report... always interesting! Many people go with homeowners prelisting report when they purchase the home, or they do what you did, hire another company to go through the home. It's interesting how much the reports can vary. Some are bang on, others ... I'm convinced it's not even the same home. I find it odd that the pre-listing report on your home made no mention of the roof whatsoever. Yet, after I inspected your roof, I'm now convinced the inspector never even went onto it. Maybe it was the guys brother who did the inspection! In your case, I think you were wise buy hiring another inspector to come in and go through the home properly. Oh well, after inspection of your home at least there wasn’t too many surprises!
