Thank you so much for the review Chris! I really appreciate it. Doing a one year inspection for the new homes can be interesting. I will either find next to nothing, or a whole mess of things! Fortunately, you guys were okay, some stuff yes, but, nothing out of the ordinary. I felt bad when your wife couldn't get the vacuum to work! I knew it couldn't be much. Thank you Josh! I really appreciate the review. I am glad that you were happy with the inspection. Aurora/Newmarket is not far, I have gone much, much further than that! Josh, I feel that it is a home inspector’s duty to educate a person about the home. It only makes sense. I actually know many a home inspector who don't want people to follow them around. Maybe they fear someone may ask them a question that they don't know the answer to or aren’t watching what they are doing. To me, I think it is much more beneficial for the both of us when people shadow me. That way, people understand everything as to what is going on with the home. When am doing an inspection for people I tell them "please ask all the questions you have". However, people may not even know what the question will be until after they move in. Yes, home inspectors will go through renovation plans to help people out when they are considering having work done to the home. Not like an interior designer type thing (I leave that stuff the the professionals), but to aid people on the work that needs to get done, and sometimes even help people save a little money when possible! Well I don't really view it quite like that (I can't watch that show do to how graphic it gets, I mean, do I really need to see what happened to the person in that detail?)but I see what you mean. It's imperative that a home inspector goes through every square inch of the home with the buyer so they totally understand what's going on with the place. I love the fact that he is very sucessful and he deserves every bit of it, I'm just not a fan of the show. Not everything needs to be repaired with a bulldozer or a wreaking ball. However, he does educate people, and I will certainly give him that. In your case, yes, I could see how it could be a concern, but nope, no problems. Many older (and even brand new) homes have wonky floors. It would have been nice if your first home inspector had told you that, but nonetheless, you know now.
