Thank you for the feedback Samantha!!! As well, the kind words. You know, word of mouth is a very powerful tool. When I receive a call where the people tell me that I've been "referred" by someone, it is very flattering. It's the utmost compliment. It even leaves me at a loss for words, all I can say is that is was nice of them to do that. If I'm not mistaken, you're the fourth or fifth home off of a chain of referrals that has passed my name down. If you think about it, Homestars is basically that, it's kind of like word of mouth advertising. Let’s be honest, when calling around, especially in certain directories, we look for who has the nicest ads. However, that doesn’t tell you if they’re good at what they do, they may just good at marketing themselves. I personally view all feedback, good or bad, to be very important. I’m glad that you were happy with the inspection Samantha, and for choosing Classic Home Inspections.

I don't view it as a "long time" explaing every detail. First off, I love talking about homes, secondly, I want you to know everything, major, minor, or somewhere in between. Do you know how many times I hear people say " Well, we had a bad experience with our home inspector " I can't really criticize the inspector because I wasn't there to see it first hand what may of happened. However, this I do know, I wouldn't leave the property until the party who hired me is completely satisfied with inspection. The last thing I would want is people saying that they had a "bad experience" with my inspection. I figure, you hired me, I report to you, I would assume that you want a complete and thorough inspection done. Sometimes I actually wonder, am I that good or are they that bad ? ...It was great meeting with you Laura and George. Thank you for choosing Classic Home Inspections !

Thank you Mike and Siu !!! I really appreciate the feedback. It's interesting, I was standing in a lineup the other day in the department store and the person in front of me turned around, read the company name on my coat and said, " Do you mind if I asked you a question about home inspections? " I said " Of course " ! (hey, I could talk about houses all day ) They asked. " How long does an inspection take " ? I said " Well, it really depends on the size of the home, however, I would ballpark three to four hours. More importantly, I'm more concerned about the buyer understanding the home than someone putting a stopwatch to me to see how quickly I can get through it. " The person said " Really? Well we just had one done and the inspector was about 45 minutes." I didn't say anything. I asked how much the inspector charged. As it turns out, not much less than what I would charge. The point here, experienced, knowledgable inspectors take the necessary time so you understand everything. By no means are we the cheapest. Thank you for choosing Classic Home Inspections !

If I was hiring an inspector, I would want them to be very detailed and thorough. Not do it half- fast listening to them tell me how many they can get done in a day. I'm not concerned about how many get done, I'm concerned about my potential purchase. When I am doing an inspection, I want the people who hired me to understand every little detail, good, bad, or otherwise. With having overlooked nothing. Thank you for the feedback Ann! I think we both shared the same enthusiasm on your home. I absolutely love inspecting the century old homes. That was certainly a gem. It's interesting that you noted that only a "certified" home inspector would do. Most people don't even realize that anyone can call themselves a home inspector and many people fancy themselves to be one. All they need are business cards. When shopping around, always ensure that your home inspector is certified with the Ontario Association of Home Inspectors. You are dealing with the most knowledgable people in the industry. We just didn't past some one hour on-line test and call ourselves “certified”. We must obtain both many years of training and experience before we set out on inspections. A home inspectors job isn't just to run into the property find some defects, let you know and rush off. No, they should be taking the time, going through the property in great detail, informing you of everything. Good things, bad things, things that may be minor today, but major down the road, helpful hints, work required for repairs, and maintenence around the home. I don't care if it's the first home or tenth, your home inspector should be dedicating that time to you, not worrying about rushing off to another home inspection. Thank you for the feedback Frank! I am very appreciative when people take the time to go onto homestars and leave feedback. I am glad that you were happy with the inspection. I can honestly say that I "tip my hat" to you homebuilder. That's the first one in some time that I've inspected where the issues were minimal. However, things like exposed live wiring in your garage is not to be taken lightly. Accidents can happen. As I told you when the inspection was being done, I will also make recommendations to prevent accidents. Sure, your builder met all code, but it things like railings around porches that sit 22 inches off the ground where people can still get hurt. When I see things such as this, bearing in mind that the number one accident around the home (fatal or non-fatal) is from falling, and that's why I will still recommend a railing. I know your builder has done their part, but it still hurts breaking a tail bone, or doing a face plant into a cement patio slab. Simply because it didn't meet the 24 inch height requirement of needing a handrail. Thanks for choosing Classic Home Inspections !

Thanks for the feedback Cyrus !!! ...and I scored a second 10 as well !!! ... I'm glad you're happy with the inspection. I get so much repeat/ word of mouth business from people. People always say such nice things and how thorough I am. When I first got into this business I felt every home inspector would be this way, but over time, I reliazed this simply is not the case. I find this scary. I'm finding that big name inspectors in the GTA are doing inspections and missing things, not going into attics, looking at roofs, giving pathetic reports (well don't even get me started)...Yet they brag that they do three inspections a day. I guess that's why they get three in a day. I personally feel you hired me, I report to you, and you want to know all about your purchase. I couldn't possibly "cram" in three a day without sacrficing being thorough. I would be too concerned about getting to my next inspection ! Thank you for the kind words and feedback!!! Well wasn't that a gem. I have no doubt in my mind that you should be happy once you've moved in. It is always more benefitial when the homebuyer is present for the inspection. When I showed Steve everything around the home it brought a whole new comfort level of making the decsion of what will be the largest purchase ( I would think ! ) that the two of you will be making. Once again, the report given on-site is a very detailed report that I've only heard positive feedback on. I'm glad you were happy with the inspection.
