    home inspection

I hired Brent to do a home inspection on the property that I recently purchased. He was punctual, professional and always willing to explain what he found in simple enough terms. Brent always tried to estimate how much things would likely cost to repair, and the range of solutions available for any problem. He is also a genuinely nice guy and it was fun looking around my house with him. I would not hesitate to recommend Brent for a home inspection. Excellent service.

    Answer from pro:

Thank you for the feedback and kind words !!! I always feel it is much more beneficial for the home buyer to be there for the inspection. When inspecting I don't really like to try and impress people with all of the home inspection jargon that I know. It would just bore you and complicate the issue. I just keep it simple as possible so everyone understands fully what the situation is and the work needed to get done. I don't try and make you an expert necessarily, but to have you understand. So if repair work is needed to get done, at least you now have an understanding the materials and work involved, thus lessening the possibility of contractors coming in and trying to take advantage of the situation. Thank you for choosing Classic Home Inspections !!!

    Home Inspection

I would have to say that as new home owners our money was well spent. We made the mistake of only using the Seller's home inspection as a guide when we purchased our home. When we decided we wanted to fix up the basement we discovered a nasty surprise - our foundation was old and crumbling and we immediately started to panic. We had gone to a few basement experts but of course they recommended that we buy the product that they were trying to sell. The great thing about Brent is that he isn't trying to sell you anything! He gave us some great advice on how to fix our basement issues without having to spend 7,000+ on a sump-pump which would have been overkill for our situation. He was very thorough and knowledgable and we immediately felt some relief after he went through our home. If you want to avoid spending money needlessly I would highly recommend that you see Brent!

Thank you for the kind words and feedback Andrea!!! My thoughts on using the home sellers inspection report. Well, personally I think an inspector should be walking you through the home as they are inspecting and explaining things as they go. Noting every little detail, minor or major, and explaining the work involved for repair. I showed you where the source of the problem regarding leaks into your basement was. The $20 pail of driveway sealant should fix that problem. How the previous inspector didn't pick that up? I have no idea, that was pretty basic stuff. However, I will also tell you this, a couple such as yourself recently brought me in to do an inspection three months after moving in. They had gone with the home sellers inspection report ( a big name franchise ), as I was letting them know that I would be going into their attic, they said, "oh, don't bother, the report says everything is fine up there, no leaks, lots of insulation". I said, "well let me take a look anyway". My findings, there was no insulation whatsoever in the attic space. You take it from there. Thank you for choosing Classic Home Inspections !!!

    home inspection

Thank God for Brent. I part own my home with my sister and she is moving to Mississauga and I wanted to make sure the house was O.K. before she got away. He explained every little detail to me so I knew what needed to be done and the repairs that have to be done before she moves. A full report was given to me and any future problems or inquiries he was more than willing to help out. I highly recommend Brent and I will pass his name to anyone who needs a home inspector.

I must smile at your comment Lucy, "well thank God for Brent" ... I don't think I've ever heard anyone actually say that before. I'm glad that you were pleased with the inspection. That was a gem of a home in Pickering. I always love inspecting in that area. Please Lucy, like I tell all, if you at any point have a question/concern regarding your home, please just pick up the phone and call me !!! ... Thank you for the kind words and feedback. Thank you for choosing Classic Home Inspections !!!

    Home Inspection

Great job Brent! Was straight forward and told me everything I needed to know and more. His inspection was thorough and detailed and he answered every question I had. I actually felt better about any of the problems we found within the house, because he pinpointed them and told me about simple and efficient ways to fix them. Would reccomend to anyone buying a house, and needing an inspector. Thanks!

    Answer from pro:

Congratulations on your new home! Cyrus, when I am doing an inspection my goal is to have the people involved understand every detail regarding the home, from top to bottom, inside to out. Also, when doing an inspection, if I come accross an issue where there are alternatives to spending a lot of money, in which many, many cases there are, I most certainly will present those options. Remember, I have nothing to sell you (at least a home inspector shouldn't)(nor do I get into "recommending" certain tradespeople), and that is why I will offer those alternatives when possible, or at very least tell you the work involved and ballpark a price. Thank you for choosing Classic Home Inspections !!!

    Home Inspection

I have used Brent on two separate occasions and have nothing but good things to say about him. He is very thorough and takes his time in explaining things to you. I am quite ignorant to most anything that has to do with the engineering of a house and the likes, but Brent was able to explain things in simple terms. I am cautious when using contractors, inspectors etc. but will not hesitate to recommend Classic Home Inspections to anyone. The one thing that really stands out is that he is a real professional with a great deal of knowledge. Great work !

    Answer from pro:

Congratulations to you and your family on the new home. Faizul, over the past years I have done inspections for people who know very little about the components of a home, as well, people who have vast knowledge. The one thing in common is that by the end of the inspection, we have all come away with much greater knowledge regarding the property. My goal isn't to make you an expert on each of the components, but to have you understand and feel confident about your purchase of which these components make up. I don't want a homebuyer to feel intimidated by anything regarding the home. As I tell everyone, please, if you ever have a question/concern about your home, just simply call me! Thank you for choosing Classic Home Inspections, Faizul.

    Home Inspection

Brent is very experienced, and takes his time to go through the entire house with you, not only mentions any defects found, but possible future issues which may occur down the road. Upon completion you recieve a lovely binder with an extensive report to keep for your records, as well as tons of digital pictures taken of various aspects of the house. Highly recomended to anyone looking to get a home inspection done!

    Answer from pro:

No question that was a nice home, however, there were some things to be addressed. It’s funny, that house had a pre-listing inspection done by another (fairly large) inspection company one month prior to yours. The listing agent who was there at the time of the inspection was impressed with my report and how thorough I was. (one time, I thought that’s how all inspectors were!) The report given to her was a five page checklist. Looking at the report you certainly didn’t need to be a home inspector to complete it. As well, many important things were missing. The feedback I get on my (lovely) report has been positive, it’s easy to read and covers every detail of the home. I try not to inundate you with a bunch of useless information. I’m glad you were happy Paul. Thank you for choosing Classic Home Inspections!!!

    Home Inspection

We were pleasantly surprised by Brent's candor and good rapor. The three hours flew by and we felt much more at ease with the whole procedure of a home inspection. Thanks Brent! We will definitely recommend your services to family and friends. Amanda and Glenn

    Answer from pro:

A super nice home for a super nice family! That was a textbook home inspection on a (almost) 100 year old home. A very solid home with some issues to be addressed. However, no big surprises, (well there was, but in a positive way). I think you should be quite happy once you've settled in. I had no idea what candor even meant, but after looking it up, I'm glad you were happy. My job is to be honest and to use common sense. I'm glad that I was of help. Thank you for choosing Classic Home Inspections!

Brent gave a very thorough inspection on the property i was looking at. He was unbiased, and completely open to answering any questions that I had. Very happy that I went with his services. Would recommend.

    Answer from pro:

Congradulations on your new home. You should be quite happy with you purchase. Like many areas throughout the GTA, the "Beach" is a fun area to inspect. Many of the homes have a certain uniqueness to them. Some new home owners may find this "uniquneness" translating to "aggravation". In your case, the home had a solid foundation, had been well maintained, and had many upgrades. That was a great home to inspect, and yes, please call me and I will come back and take a closer look at that plumbing issue in the basement once you've moved in. Thanks again Steve for choosing Classic Home Inspections.

Brent looked at a home I was considering purchasing and I would most certainly recommend his service! He is extremely thorough and provides a detailed report of his findings to the client for future reference. He recommends what sort of work would need to be done and even provides a cost guide so that you can think your decision through and not be over-charged by contractors. Also, he assured me that I could contact him at anytime (even years later) with any questions I may have about the house or the inspection. All around very pleased with this service.

    Answer from pro:

Congradulations on your new home! That was a gem to inspect. A typical home built in the 1920's loaded with character. Yes, there were a few issues to be addressed, but a very nice first home to move into. You should be quite happy. It's funny, after speaking with your realtor she had informed other home inspection companies do not supply written reports or if they do, they are a few pages in a leaflet. I find that ridiculous. I certainly do not want to supply you with a 25lb binder filled with useless information, but the report I give you goes through each and every component of the home as well additional useful information. All of the feedback regarding the report has been positive. People find it easy to read and useful. It's nice to know that you do to. As I tell everyone, always feel free to call me anytime if you have any quetions or concerns regarding your home. Thank you for choosing Classic Home Inspections Meighan !

I found Brent Jeffreys through this website. We have purchased a 5-year-old house and Brent offered a very thorough and comprehensive assessment. His service was great and I highly recommend him.

    Answer from pro:

I'm glad you came across Homestars and found it to be of help when you were choosing an inspector. You and your husband should be quite happy with your purchase. That home had been well built and well maintained. I certainly don't expect a five year old home to be falling down, it's what people manage to do the homes while living there. Thanks again for the feedback and congratulations.
