replacement of a flapper in toilet tank

The flapper, chain and rod for the toilet tank needed to be replaced. A very simple job. I have been paying monthly fees for Enercare's plumbing protection plan for a number of years. The plumber came, and replaced the flapper and chain, but did not have an arm (rod) in his truck. We agreed the corrosion on the brass rod was cosmetic and I'd make do. Twenty minutes after the plumber left, I could hear the toilet tank refilling itself at regular intervals. It appears the flapper is not sealing the hole, and allows the water in the tank to slowly drain out. The sensor in the tank automatically refills the tank when the water level gets too low. I immediately called Enercare (30 minutes after the plumber had left) and explained the problem. Another appointment was set for the following day. No one could come back to rectify the situation. The appointment was set for 11 AM to 3 PM. At approx 2:30 PM I called Enercare customer service and asked if, considering the inconvenience I had been put through, I could just add a small task to the workorder - tightening the handle of the tap in the sink. I was rudely treated and interrupted and this request was refused but the man told me he's make another appointment for that task if I wanted. I had already wasted 2 days at home and the toilet had not been working for 4 days. This customer service person had taken all of my personal information down but had been too lazy to look at my file - as I found out later. at 5:20PM (over 2 hours AFTER the 3 PM limit) I called Enercare and spoke to another man who was very understanding. He looked at my file and informed me that the appointment for the repair had not been entered into the computer. I had waited all day indoors for two consecutive days without having a simple plumbing task completed. I now have another appointment for tomorrow for 7 PM-11PM. That is the earliest appointment I can get. The service is terrib;e. The repairs are done by people who may or may not have the proper skills, On a previous occasion I had to have 4 appointments before a small leak in the basement could be fixed. The service people that Enercare had contracts with disagreed on the cause. The last technician who positively confirmed the leak was from the water heater and said it was not an uncommon problem, was able to repair it easily. My conclusion is that Enercare has contracts with mediocre to poor technicians. I would rather pay a plumber of my own choosing and not have to wait several days to have work done. The one extremely rude customer service person made an already difficult day even more intolerable. I am cancelling my Enercare protection plans (I have a protection plan for my water heater, furnace, and air conditioning too!). My years of experience with them have taught me they are entirely unreliable.

    A/C Maintenance Visit

Just signed up for the heating/cooling protection plan. Scheduled a maintenance visit for today from 12-4. Called at 2:30 pm to confirm, and was told a technician would be calling prior to arriving. Called again at 3:30 and was assured that someone was on route, and I would be called shortly. Did not get a call. Called at 4:00 pm, was put on hold, and was then abruptly told no one will be coming! Told that there were too many emergency calls. After much heated discussion, I asked to speak to a supervisor. Then told I would be contacted in 24-48 hrs. Said this is not acceptable, and finally after a 20 minute wait, spoke to the supervisor of the escalation department, Chantelle. She could not explain why this entire situation occurred. Offers me a $50 credit. Then to make matters worse, she tells me that I would not get my appointment until July 13! Better yet, she said that this is all she could do, and that I could not speak to her superior as no one was available! She suggested I send an email. This is by far the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I cannot believe that such a business practice exists! STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!

    Furnace repair

We have a rental unit and had a problem with a York furnace. I called enercare and they suggested we had a Diagnostics plan for $179.00 + HST this would cover $500.00 worth of labour. The parts were covered under warranty until 2022. They are now charging us 484.77 for the parts because they forgot to put them through the company for warranty. So now we have to pay the bill and get our money back from York. This is after more than 15 calls and many different stories. So we have 3 homes and all of them have a protection plan which I am trying to cancel and again I am having a hell of a time doing so. They will be losing almost $1,000.00 a year from us and all they had to do was put the parts through the warranty. They don't seem to care so we are going to another company as soon as I am able to get rid of them. Not very smart business losing clients for nothing.

Yearly maintenance for Furnace and Air Conditioner

The technician who came to service my Furnace and Air Conditioner was friendly and polite and he did a very good job. After he was finished he explained what he did. It would be a very good idea for people to sign up for the Heat and Cooling Protection Plan with Enercare Home Services because it is second to none.

    Enercare does care

We moved to a bungalow at the end of 2007. The water heater that came with it has the installation dated November 5, 1994. Since we moved in, there were a lot of salespersons knocking at the door selling water heaters and furnaces. All of them took a look at our water heater and cast-iron boiler and told us they were very old and we should get them replaced for new ones; the salespersons would ask for the Enbridge billing statement, take a copy of it, ask to sign a contract and book an appointment to send a technician. The technicians would come and would say that the items could not be replaced. On 2010, one of the companies, 'National Home Services', brought a new tank, said they couldn’t install it; they put a new sticker on the old tank and took the new tank away. They were charging us the rent for the ‘new water tank’ all these years. We called the company numerous time and told them we still have the old tank but they just kept saying, according to their record, they did change it. They own salesmen continue knocking at the door over the years and tried to sell us a new water tank, copied the Enbridge billing statement and when they realized about the situation, they promised to solve it and we never hear from them, except continuing getting the billing statements. We wanted to close the account, but they told us that either we keep paying the monthly rent or pay for the full cost of the ‘new tank’ they had installed us. We gave up and opted to continue paying the monthly rental fee. At the end of last year, our boiler circulating pump was leaking, I called Aaron, a certified energy management consultant from Enercare whom was referred earlier by Glen who inspected the conversion burner from the cast-iron burner; Aaron came the same day I called him, recommended that since a chimney liner work needed to be done and we are replacing the boiler, we shall also replace the water tank. We told him about the frustration we experienced with the water tank and Aaron assured us we could resolve it. Aaron managed to send a very hard working crew to have the old boiler out in the morning the next day. Aaron dropped by personally in the afternoon to inspect the completion of the old boiler removal. Next day after that, another courteous, friendly and professional crews, two Enercare technicians, Jeff and Darryl, came to do the plumbing while another crew was doing the chimney liner; the same day, the old water tank was out, the new water tank came the next day and it was installed just in time before a coming winter storm. We contacted the company that was charging us for a tank that they didn’t delivered, updated them about the new water tank and closing our account with them. They insisted that according to their record from the previous company, they installed a new tank and they didn’t have any record of us contacting them. We had photos Aaron took from the old tank before it was removed but they didn’t valid it. They ended up charging us over a thousand dollars for a tank they never installed. I contacted Aaron about the new situation, Aaron forwarded everything off to Enercare water heater management team, asked to help escalate the matter, and see how they could resolve this issue with the other company. Eventually, we got a cheque from Enercare to reimburse what the other company had charged us! We are so relieved that we can put it all behind us after all these years. I appreciate that the times that I had contacted Aaron, he has always replied me with a very quick response. We are very impressed and very grateful at what Aaron and Enercare team have done for us. They were truly concern and did for us no other companies ever did. We are very satisfied with their exceptional services. We highly and definitely recommend Enercare to everyone. Enercare does care.

    Water tank

Made the mistake of letting Enercare/Ecohome into my new house 3 years ago to replace 'their' aging hot water tank. Been getting double billed for the last 3 years to the tune of over $500. Now they're offering me $100. Guess I'll see them in small claims court.
