    Enercare Service Awesome

The service technician (Zhenhe Ma) arrived within time frame and quickly repaired water heater. He was polite, informative and efficient. The coverage plan is worth having and I recommend it.

    Bathroom Toilet drainage problem

A perfect score. On Good Friday March 25, 2016 morning around 9am, I placed a call for bathroom toilet drainage problem, the customer service Jackie was so helpful that she was able to dispatch same day service for 11am - 3pm window. Tony, the plumber, arrived before 11am and he quickly fixed the drainage problem. Both Jackie and Tony provided excellent services. They make me a very happy customer. I would definitely recommended Enercare to a friend or colleague.

    Electric Hot Water Tank Rental

I signed a RENTAL contract for a hot water tank, and have now been informed that the only way to terminate this contract is to PURCHASE the unit. I moved into a new residence in October 2013. Within 2 weeks, the hot water tank leaked. Direct Energy came and replaced the unit, and I signed a new RENTAL contract. I have now decided to convert to natural gas, and have already purchased a new tankless water heater from a different company. I contacted Enercare (previously Direct Energy) to inform them that I wanted to end my rental contract, and have the unit removed. At this point they informed me that my only option to terminate the contract is to PURCHASE the unit, at the full buy out price ($776). They informed me that this was clear in the rental contract that I signed. I signed the contract while the technician was standing there with a clipboard waiting for me to finish, and at no point was I advised that I was agreeing to actually purchase the unit. The termination clause is buried deep in the fine print, that would have taken more than 30 min to fully review. There is a commonly understood distinction between renting and purchasing, and if this company has decided to blur that distinction, then it is up to them to ensure that the consumer understands that they have changed the meaning of the word RENT. If I wanted to own a hot water tank, I would have purchased one at the start. The reason that I decided to rent was that I was not sure what my long term plan would be, and thought that I may decide to change to natural gas, so I wanted to remain flexible.

    Hot Water Tank Problems

enercare was performing my annual furnace service check. The technician immediately notice my hot water tank had problems and have it replaced with a new one. The installation unbelievably fast. The technicians answered all my questions to the fullest! I have a plan for home maintenance which covers the hot water tank. I believe the value is about $1800 or more. Outstanding job, well done Enercare.

    Annual Maintance

Enercare followed up on our overdue service that is included in our monthly fee - the experience was great - the operator was able to book us a convenient time and re-confirmed the appt. The technician called prior to arriving on time. She not only reviewed the concerns that could arise from our furnace but also called in a repair that was preformed the same day! She also inquired about carbon monoxide detectors - I really felt she cared about us and our comfort and safety. The subsequent service call also was on time and confirmed his arrival prior to arriving - he made some suggestions on repairs and condition of he furnace without pressure. The entire experience has been very positive and we would feel good about our interaction with Enercare and are glad we have them watching over us.

    Duct Clenaing

The company representatives such as Ryan Batchelor are very knowledgeable and demonstrate courtesy in completing the job.. they go beyond Duct cleaning and into the inside of the furnace.. Really done a fantastic job that I think is more complete than other companies.

The WORST most UNETHICAL company I have ever dealt with

We took over a water heater rental from the previous owners. 5 years after taking ownership the water did not hear up as well. We called Enercare to look into it. We were under the impression that renting a water heater meant that you did not have to deal with repair, replacement etc as in time, it is definitely more expensive than purchasing your own. The technician was very nice and a new tank was ordered. He mentioned that it was tight getting into the area where the tank was. The new tank was too big so another one was sent in and they suggested turning the tank direction so that it would be easier for a technician to get in. There would be a charge but we were told that this was not necessary procedure and that we could call and might get the charge reduced. This was the end of Oct 2015. It is now almost the end of March and after countless months and phone calls where I was assured someone would phone me to update me but never did, someone finally replied to say that I shouldn't have been given that information- sorry it was incorrect and I still have to pay. This is RIDICULOUS. Why should I have to pay $244 just for the comfort of a technician? Can they not send a smaller technician that could fit into the space to look at the water heater? AND why would they install facing that direction to begin with then? I was specifically told this was not a necessity and that if I did it I could get the charges reduced which is the ONLY reason I consented as if I had know I would be on the hook for over $200 for something unnecessary I would never have agreed. And now they're telling me over the phone that the repositioning of the tank was necessary for the heater to function???? as if someone in the billing department knows more about installing tanks than the technician??? This is LUDICROUS and I will be reporting this to the BBB
