    Hot water tank repairs

Since the name change, this company is a joke. Had hot water issues . So called technician came twice, charged me twice and couldn't fix the issue. Perfomed some other work which was not needed. Called another company, they fixed it in 15 minutes. Called customer service for a refund and they said field manager will call within 24-48 hours. No one called for 2 months now and I keep calling them every week for the past 2 months and they always have the same answer. Still waiting for the field manager to get some time from his busy schedule and call. This company is a joke.

    Furnace and AC installment

Last spring Enercare provided us with a new Furnace and AC (we've never had AC before). Aside from the fact that the initial sales person did not alert us to the fact that part of a wall would need to be taken out to remove the old furnace, and the installer misjudged his calculations and drilled through an external wall and gouged our hardwood floors (one floor above where he should have drilled), we are primarily incensed with Enercare's disregard for what they promised in a signed contract. They provided written and signed notice that we would receive discounts for both the furnace and AC ($250 each for a total of $500) from the heating & cooling incentive program (inmar). We only received the $250 rebate for the furnace, no documentation was sent on behalf of our new AC. When I enquired from Enercare why not a staff person, T. Murphy, indicated that we purchased an AC that does not qualify. Our choice of AC was completely at the discretion of the Direct Energy sales person B. Kalisky, who never once indicated he was selling us an AC unit that would not qualify. He included the discount for the AC in our contract. I can imagine a few scenarios as to why Mr. Kalisky and Direct Energy/Enercare might not disclose they are selling us an AC that does not qualify for a rebate. In addition we were promised in writing $1080 refund if we went through the energy audit, which we did. Again there has been lack of communication or acknowledgment that we are owed this money. Emails are now going unresponded to. We are contemplating our next step. I would advise anyone considering a furnace or AC upgrade to avoid Enercare.

    Hot Water Tank

I recently purchased a house that had two hot water heaters. The rental water heater was not hooked up and not in use left in the basement from a previous owner. After trying over 3 weeks to explain to enercares accounting department of this issue and that they should get their tank, I finally gave up and committed to pay for them to pick up their tank. On the day of pick up, enercare committed to a 4 hour window, unfortunately this was not the case. They made me wait "8 hours". After calling over 7 times and being on hold for at least 15 to 20 minutes each time, they asked me to reschule. If you want a company that does not care about you, your time or your money, call Enercare

    Answer from pro:

Hi there- I do apologize for the long wait time you've experienced and I will be looking into exactly what went wrong here. In the future, we do offer a pick-up service for rental water heaters in addition to drop-off capability as outlined here https://www.enercare.ca/home/water-heating/notice-regarding-return-equipment. If you have any questions or would like to discuss this further please email me at support@enercare.ca and I will be happy to help! Thanks ~ Kira

    Duct Cleaning

Called Enercare for duct cleaning, I was quoted $334.66, this price was with a $72.00 promotional discount. Was told on the phone that there would be video footage while the technician was cleaning the ducts. The technician arrived; everything was done in less than an hour, I was not provided any video footage, when I asked the technician, he pulled out his phone and showed me a picture of the furnace. He left the house a mess, dust everywhere and my furniture was moved. Then he proceeded to give me the price....$460.90!!! I was shocked!!! I told him the price I was quoted and he said that they don't even have a quote for that amount; called customer service, was told told by the nice lady that if that's what was quoted, then that's the price that should be honoured. Fast forward a few days, diane(supervisor) called me, was very condescending, did not apologize once and didn't resolve my issue, asked her to speak to the manager, she said there wasn't a manager, so I said I would like to speak to your boss, she said there is no one. As a supervisor myself for a major Toronto hospital! I find that difficult to believe. I repeatedly asked her to listen to the initial phone recording, but she refused. Called another supervisor days later and was told that she would listen to the recording. Revived a phone call las week that they are not able to honour the original price quoted. I have been paying for their maintenance lan for years, you would think they would compensate me for being a long term client. Very disappointed.

    Heating and Plumbing Care Plan

We have had Enercare Plumbing and Heating Protection Plan for 3 years. The price is reasonable. Once a year we have our furnace checked. Approximately once a year we use plumbing services for clogged drains. Recently we had issues with our furnace/heating and woke up with the temperature in the house being 16 degrees, on Family Day! I called at 6am. Someone arrived before the days end. The diagnostics were performed and a part needed to be replaced which arrived around 8pm (not sure how they pulled that off). A technician was in first thing in the morning to install the new part. Overall, quick service, same day arrival, quick assessment of problem and delivery of new parts. The total cost for this had we not been with Enercare would have been over $1000. We paid nothing as it was all covered under our plan.

    Furnace Service Visit

Furnace quit. I had a service plan with Enercare, so I looked up Enercare phone and called. Call was answered promptly and the CSR quickly set up an appointment for a technician within the same day. Dan arrived promptly and trouble shot the problem (a tripped circuit breaker) within 5 minutes. However he stayed and gave the furnace a thorough review and checked out several things. All was working well and he left. The circuit breaker tripped again when he was in the driveway and I got him to come back and rechecked things. The furnace is 18 years old and I already had three HVAC proposals from previous sales calls, including Enercae. Dan offered a further "service discount" through the sales person on the phone. The offer as a result was the best of the three that I got and we agreed to replace the furnace and AC through Enercare.

    Furnace repair

I am satisfied with the repairman and how quickly someone came to my house. What I am dis-satisfied with is the fact my $18,000 furnace is less than a year old and I am having problems. The problem I had was caused by your company in the first place and not fixed, resulting in the most current breakdown, the 2nd in as many months. The weekend call cost you, (as this is a rental), $140.00, and should not have been necessary if the job was done right last time, as it was the same problem that needed to be repaired as the previous service call. I am hoping the latest repairman fixed the problem. Your survey asked me to rate the quality of his work, which I will have to wait and see. The repairman seemed to know what he was doing, but so did the last fellow.
