We have the plumbing maintenance plan with Enercare, which we pay $20 per month and $240 per year. Yes, it is costly when you consider that a clogged drain or toilet is rare and is not a yearly occurrence. We recently had a clogged kitchen sink drain and I called for an appointment and and the soonest they could send someone was in 8 days! Imagine living with a clogged sink where you can't wash dishes or prepare your meals for 8 days! I spoke to my husband and he was livid, so I called the following day and indicated that it was completely unacceptable that we had to wait 8 days for servicing. They were able to reschedule the appointment to have someone come over in 2 days. This was three days after I had placed the first call. The guy shows up, gets out a motorized plumbing snake and proceeds to feed the end piece through the pipe and lo and behold takes out a clump of debris. Not satisfied with this, he puts the snake back in and I don't know how far he went, but it was pretty far because the floor started to shake. I had this uneasy feeling that he might be damaging the pipes! Finally, he takes out the snake and there is nothing on end piece, so all that for nothing. Now I'm worried that he may have damaged the pipes and we'll be seeing a leak in the near future. Such a repair would be incredibly costly! The plumber puts everything back and realizes that there is still a blockage but it's near the front of the drain, which he didn't bother to address in the first place. He proceeded to cut two pipes and realized he didn't have the replacement parts and would have to come back another day. This has become the never ending saga of the clogged kitchen drain!!!! Luckily my subscription is renewing in a few days and I will cancel.
