    Drain repair

I found DrainWorks through homestars.ca and was very pleased to see the high rating was well deserved. Everyone I dealt with at DrainWorks was courteous and professional. When the main drain from my house backed up, I called DrainWorks and they quickly came out and showed me how badly plugged with tree roots my home's old plumbing was. I was given the option of fixing the one badly plugged portion, or to get the whole system replaced as there were roots creeping in in other areas. I chose to have the entire system replaced and don't regret it at all. DrainWorks did a great job. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend DrainWorks to anyone.

    Answer from pro:

**Thanks Paul** At DrainWorks we always educate the homeowner of the situation and inform them of their options. The choice was yours and we are pleased you found our service so rewarding. Thanks for your review.

    Drain replacement

Of all the experiences I have had with contractors, this was the only pleasant one. Everybody on the team was professional, punctual, tidy, courteous, and honest. No unwanted sales pitch, no delays because they would busy elsewhere, no attempts to give you less than what is agreed on in the quotation, no hidden fees. For the first time, I felt that I did not have to spy on the workers all the time to make sure they were doing it right. As the problem was getting worse than first thought (something the team could not have foreseen), they were quick to come with a temporary solution so we could use the water in the house. I recommend Drainworks without any reservation whatsoever.

    Answer from pro:

**The pleasure is ours** We value your review and thank you for sharing your experience. DrainWorks really does set out to exceed expectations. To DrainWorks this business is about honestly solving your problems and involving you, the homeowner, along the way. You should not feel like you are being taken advantage of when having to make home repairs. You should feel educated and confident in the work you are having performed as well as have faith in the company you choose to complete that work. DrainWorks is happy to have been your choice and are proud that you were so pleased with our service.

    Partial drain replacement

Had DrainWorks replace part of our drain in July due to a backup caused by roots at a broken section of drain. I called DrainWorks based on a recommendation from my neighbour. The job was initially handled by Armondo and then passed on to Matt when Armondo left on vacation. I was very impressed with both of them - punctual, excellent communications skills and overall very nice guys. The crew that did the grunt work were great as well, showed up on time and did an excellent job cleaning up. I've had Armondo back this October to do preventative maintenance snaking on a section of the drain we didn't replace and have again been completely satisfied. Another item of note - whenever I call DrainWorks, their intial contact customer service on the phone is excellent as well.

    Answer from pro:

**Thanks Warren** DrainWorks is top-notch customer service from the moment you call our office right through to the completion of your repair. We are glad you were and continue to be a completely satisfied customer.

    exterier drain

When Jeremy frist arrived, he reasured me that he would do everything he could to resolve me drain problem. And that he did. He went over and beyond the call of duty to try and resolve the issue. When Jeremy realized that there was a problem that he couldn't repair he sugguested the next course of action. The crew that came to excavate and correct the drain problem were wonderful always kept me informed as to what they were doing.(I felt sorry for them and made them coffee because that day it was cold and it rained all day.) Fred and Lou both answered any questions I had the day of excavation, and Lou went out in the rain and looked at my downspots and gave me valuable suggestions as to how to disconnect them properly. I would recomend drainworks again and will call again in the future if and when there is a plumbing or drain problem. Thank you for resolving my drain problem with compation, respect and kindness.

    Answer from pro:

**Thanks Rosemarie** We appreciate your review and thank you for sharing the compassionate, respectful and kind service experience you received from DrainWorks.

    Drain, plumbing

On a Thursday we had a flooding basement. On a Friday afternoon I called DRAIN WORKS from the office. Before I arrived home, they had fixed the problem. I met with the service man "Matt", as he had just cleaned up. He took the time to re-explain everything to me, and did it with the exceptional Customer service. On Saturday, another crew arrived as we decided to upgrade to avoid further problems. I was impressed by Misha and his associate, at the professionalism they displayed. The care they took at the front lawn, and keeping me posted of their progress. I have dealt with many contractors and services since purchasing this house, I would state that this company - DRAIN WORKS, which actually came recommended by a friend, is by far THE BEST company or service I've hired to work on my house. From rates, to Customer Service, to finished result...absolutely exceptional. As far as I'm concerned, regardless of the homes I own, I will only ever dial for DRAIN WORKS. Their equipment is clean and presentable. Their staff is knowlegable and friendly. I even appreciated their coat-of-arms. That tells me the pride that they have in their job. Simply put, they are professionals, and a pleasure to hire.

    Answer from pro:

Replace sanitary and sewer main traps to city lines

I had drainworks rebuild the sanitary and sewer traps plus a floor drain which connect to the main city lines. They had backed up due to being cracked/separated being old clay pipes. Drainworks quoted me a price and work schedule and then got to work. They completely delivered on every promise made which was important considering the amount of work involved. 4 guys were onsite for an entire day from beginning to end and the job was finished by 6pm. Not a spec of dust was left behind by them....well done and will be using them for my next plumbing job. Highly recommended.

    Answer from pro:

**Thanks Matt** DrainWorks believes in upfront pricing, so following through on our promises is the foundation of our service to you. Thanks again, we look forward to being your plumbing and drain service providers should you require our services in the future.

    Plumbing Repairs

Does this sound familiar? You try contacting a tradesman to complete a small household project and they don't even have the courtesy to return your calls. Not the professional folks at DrainWorks! We wanted to replace our old cement laundry tub, along with a few old leaky taps around the house. One call to DrainWorks was all it took to get a professional repair job done, at the date and time promised, and at a fair and reasonable price. Steve from DreamWorks did a great job, answered all our questions, made suggestions, the list goes on. Thanks guys!

    Answer from pro:

**Thanks Claud** Your review is very much appreciated. Our plumbers are non-commission based and that is what allows them the time it takes to answer your questions and provide you with suggestions, all while completing your repair. We respect our customers and their concerns. Thanks again.

    Drain / pipe check

Our experience with Drainworks began very well. They arrived on time and the guys (Armondo and partner) were friendly and very professional. They were checking our drains and pipes for tree roots or other possible obstructions. A larger problem was detected which required a significant investment and the digging up of our basement. We immediately booked future service with DrainWorks and made a deposit. By doing this, we received a discount on the appointment that day which we were very thankful for since it was impossible to complete the drain scoping. After further research and planning we decided to postpone the work until the Spring when we planned to put in a second bathroom. We admit we made a mistake by impulsively signing the contract but did not want to have to dig up the finished basement floor twice. We were hoping that DrainWorks would be flexible but were disappointed to learn that we were not able to have any portion of our deposit returned or receive a credit for future work. We escalated our request to the manager and felt we were treated rudely and told we couldn't back out of our contract. We escalated a detailed complaint to Terry Cord in hopes of a resolution, and his response back was surprisingly defensive and even sarcastic. As much as we would have liked to use DrainWorks again, we don't feel that our future business would be appreciated or deserved. We expected more from a company (especially Terry) that prides themselves on customer service.

    Answer from pro:

**HONOURING COMMITMENTS** "This post is very unfortunate and frankly, misleading. I'm Terry Cord, the owner and founder of DrainWorks. The same Terry referenced in the post by Stacey of Bloor West. To begin with, we aren't sure who Stacey is, as we never had dealings with a Stacey on this project. I'll assume Stacey is married to the customer in question, Dr. John Brummel. We were completely open with our recommendations and pricing throughout our dealings with this client. There was never an issue with the work that we did perform up to that point. In fact, the client asked to have the service call that was owed to DrainWorks reduced $100 in order to accept the proposed work in question - which DrainWorks agreed to. We were very patient and flexible in trying to schedule a firm date for the contracted work with the client, but after 11 days of indecision, the client chose not to proceed. Deciding not to continue is any clients right, and we respect that fact. When you decide to secure our time and take us out of the market, and then choose not to proceed by canceling a signed contract, there is a small cost to that. The reason we have to receive a nominal non-refundable deposit is quite simple: We commit to paying our employees - the most skilled in the business - a salary rather than a &quotsell more so you can make more&quot commission. We do this because we know salaried professionals provide a better quality of service, and we believe that commission-based plumbing companies (the vast majority of them) are sales oriented which isn't in the clients best interest. When we accept a contract, our time is blocked off for that customers project and we can no longer offer it to anyone else. The deposit simply helps us partially offset the lost time and service opportunity our company experienced as a result of that signed agreement being broken. Lastly, we received a single star rating by this customer, yet if you look at Homestars ranking criteria, we met three of the five mandatory items for stars, easily. I realize this star is actually a reflection of the fact that the client wasn't happy about losing their agreed upon non refundable deposit, but we endured being spoken down to more than once and had a great deal of our time wasted. Plus, contrary to what's written in this post, the written indication to us from the client was to cancel, not postpone for a future day. To suggest otherwise is simply misleading. As a guy who takes incredible pride in the fact that we have worked our tails off for 12 years, this review is offensive to me. I have no issue with any client posting feedback, as this forum exists for that purpose. Frankly, we've benefited from Homestars reviews many times. I do however, object to any review that isn't at the very least, fair. For the past seven years straight, my company has won the Consumer's Choice top Award for Drain Service Excellence in the GTA. I only mention this because it speaks to the fact that day-in and day-out, we work very hard to impress our clients. This one star rating simply isn't a fair reflection of our brand or work ethic, and I just wanted to let you know my thoughts with my reply. Thanks. - Terry
