    Replaced Damaged Garage Door

We moved into a re-sold house, which has 2 garage doors. One of the doors had a dent and needed maintenance. We read about Steve on Homestars, called him, he came evaluated the door, and explained to us that he can repair the door. But with the wear and tear on it, we would need to maintain it every year. Instead it would be a good idea to replace the door. We took his advise and installed new garage doors. Steve is very professional, knowlegeable, courteous, honest, and clean. I would definately recommend him for any Garage door services. Good-Luck. Mufazal (Markham-2011)

    Garage door opener gear replacement

Open Sesame is great, honest, and the service is exceptional. My 10 years old Craftsman garage door opener was not functioning even though the motor still sounded strong. After examining the inside I found the white plastic gear had worn out. Steve said its a common thing for the gear to go every 10-12 years. He gave me a quote of $135 for the repair and he came on the same day at the time he promised. He replaced the broken gear (with 3 years warranty on the new part!), replaced the worn-out rollers on the door, re-torsion the springs and balanced the door. All for the price he quoted. Steve even took the time and show me what to do as regular maintenance so the new gear will last longer than the original. In an hour, my garage door opener was up and running smoother and quieter than before. For that price, I can't ask for more. The thing I like about Open Sesame is that they don't sell or replace stuff unless it is needed. Unlike the first quote that I got from a big name company which I heard in a radio commercial, the guy quote me $269+tax for the repair or $350+tax for a new opener. Its a no-brainer decision. :-)

    serviced door opener

I noticed Open Sesame servicing a neighbours garage. I asked them if they could install a new garage door opener at my home. As promised showed up about 1 hour later. Instead of just replacing the door opener as I suggested Steve opened it and looked at it closely determining that an electrical component had burned. I confirmed that it had smoked one day. (he indicated not an unusual problem) He said the door opener was almost new and just replaced the component. I think it is called a capacitor. then meticulously greased every bearing and both springs on the door. Works like new again and saved me at least 250 dollars. Honest, thorough, does not rush. Highly recommend.

    replaced springs in garage door

He arrived on time. The price was competitive. The door was perfectly balanced after the completion of the job. My wife liked the way he explained everything and thought he was very friendly.

    Garage door problem

Our garage door would only open a few inches and then close again. We contacted STEVE from OPEN SESAME after reading the reviews about him on HomeStars. After a long, cold work day, he arrived at 6:45 P.M. with his helper. After 15 minutes and a few minor adjustments, our door worked but he did not want to charge us. My husband gave him $40 cash anyway. Two nights later, the door went up but wouldn't close. We called Steve the next morning and he returned. He wanted to take the old motor apart and try to fix it. We chose to buy a new one. He insisted on deducting the $40 we had paid before. He always answers his 'phone immediately and will give free advice over the 'phone if possible. He is polite, honest, hard-working,tidy and pleasant and goes that extra mile for his customers. We highly recommend him and will use him in future.

    Broken garage door spring replacement

Open Sesame is composed of Steve (the owner) and one full time guy who I didnt get to meet. When our garage door spring broke last wednesday, we decided to go with Steve based on the reviews we read here. Upon talking to him, he asked us questions on what the issue was and gave us an estimate over the phone. When Steve saw the old spring, he immediately told me that it should be replaced with a bigger/thicker type that will hold up longer. his truck is complete with all tools and materials needed for the job. He does everything on site, unlike the bigger companies that would have someone measure the spring, leave, come back, and install - which saved us a lot of time. He also replaced the pulley cables - free of charge. Im the type of guy who would like to ask a lot of questions regarding the job, and he answered each and every one of them. I also appreciated that way he explained each step of the job (installing the new cables, tightening the spring). He even checked both my garage door openers and lubricated the metal track. It was like attending garage door 101. He was scheduled to come at 11am, but he arrived at 10:45. Not only was he prompt, but he was very courteous and professional. More importantly. you could book him for Saturday! I called the other companies listed here, and they would only go to my house on weekdays. There were clients who would call, and he would give advice on how to troubleshoot them - free of charge. Where could you find this these days??

Repaired my garage door that I thought was a write-off

The garage door was warped after a small accident. Called Steve, thought I have to replace it, he came a few hours after my call.Said he wanted to see if he can fix it so I can park the car back inside -another freezing cold day here. Fixed the door in 10 minutes, so I can use it for now until I am ready to replace it one day. DID NOT CHARGE ME A PENNY! Steve, thank-you so much, I will most definitely give you a call to buy my new garage doors from you.You were wonderful, what a nice guy !

    tuning up garage door

They came in their well equipped truck, tuned up the garage door, explained what they were doing, and how I should take care of the door. Left me a couple spare rollers. Just great service!

    Replaced our garage door

Our old garage door was battered and ugly. The 'vintage' automatic opener was jamming. Steve's quote for the door seemed to be reasonable. But he surprised us by recommending we NOT replace the opener. It was old, he said, but very reliable. The jamming? He fixed that on the spot by replacing the belt. No charge for that, not even the cost of the belt. And we hadn't even hired him yet. Of course we did call him back to replace the door. It was not as easy a job as it looked. Steve and his assistant spent several hours custom fitting the new door. (I'm really glad I decided not to attempt this myself.) When they were done it looked great and worked perfectly. And their cleanup left the garage floor cleaner than it was was when they started. All in all, great work, excellent value and really nice guys!

    Garage door not closing

My garage door wasn't closing properly. It would move a bit and go back up. I phoned and he told me exactly what to do so clearly that it was perfect within 5 minutes. I'll certainly know who to call if I run into trouble again.
