    New Plumbing/Bathtub Install

I recently purchased a 50 year old home and planned a complete renovation. I need to have a new bathtub installed as well as new plumbing lines in the bathrooms, kitchen, and laundry room. I called Roto-Rooter as I was recommended to use their services from a neighbour and I am so glad I did. They were able to do the job within short notice and arrived promptly. The service man was very informative and answered any questions I had and also provided alternatives that worked out better than I had originally planned. The plumbing was installed neatly and they did not leave a mess like most trades do. The price was in line with the scope of work they had to do. Overall, I was extremely pleased with their work and would definately recommend Roto-Rooter to my family and friends.

    re and re dishwasher

After running into a problem with the company that the dishwasher was purchased, from, i needed to have the unit installed same day and quickly as guests were over for a wedding. I called roto rooter and they sent somebody out withing the hour and removed the old dishwasher and installed the new one. Although i am completely satisfied with the work that was completed, the cost was a lot more than i had expected. Most companies were charging approximately $150, but Roto Rooter charged by the hour and the project took three hours. I was happy that i was able to have my dishwaher installed same day and quickly, but it was so much more expensive than anywhere else.

    Basement Sink Issues

Had some issues with my basement sink and water coming up from the drain, to the point where the water was about to flood out of the sink. Roto Rooter fixed the problem but it was a serious issue that required new pipe parts. Was pretty expensive at ~2500 but at least the problem was fixed.

    Roto-Rooter Service Call

I called at 10:AM this morning, I gave my address and a breif synopsis of the issue, they confirmed that they'd been here before and would I was told that I would have a technician "before noon". I told them that i was leaving town the next day and needed to run errands- I would be happy to take an apt later in the day if that worked out better for everyone. Again, it was confirmed that I would have a technician "before noon" 12:52 a technician calls me and tells me that he will be here within an hour. At 1:40 he texts me to tell me it will be another 30 minutes later. At 2:10 He calls because he doesn't have the correct address despite having been here before and having " all the ifnromation in the computer". At 2:20 the office calls me and tells me that the technician needs to cancel because he's afraid of elevators. I thought this was a joke- but its clearly how Roto conducts business. There apparently was no other tech availible in the area and I should call one of their competitors to get the issue taken care of.

    Toilet problem diagnosis

The tank in my toilet suddenly stopped refilling itself on a Friday evening, and the superintendents in my building weren't going to be in their office again until Monday morning. I called four different plumbing companies between Friday and Sunday; one I couldn't get through to, and two didn't call me back. But the receptionist at Roto Rooter picked up right away, and within literally five minutes called me back to say that Jordan was on his way to my place. He was both professional and friendly, and explained the problem to me clearly. The only issue was that it turned out that the water in the whole building would need to be shut off, so I would need to take up the matter with the superintendents when they returned after the weekend; but for now, Jordan pinpointed the problem, showed me how to temporarily work around it in order to use the toilet, and even offered not to charge me for his visit. (I was happy to pay, though, due to the great service.) Recommended!

    unclog drain

Stay away! They charged me 207.64$ to unclog one shower drain (total work time about twenty minutes). He assured me that both showers (both were clogged, connecting drains) would work fine now and that there is no need to check the second drain. Well, less than two months later the second drain is not draining properly. Their response: They would have charged me another 200$ on the first visit anyways to unclog the second drain (that is 404 $ to unclog two connecting drains). They were unwilling to come out and fix the problem (unless I paid them another 200$ of course). Feel ripped off. Do yourself a favor and find a cheaper more reliable company!

    Sewer pipe replacement

Roto Rooter responded right away when we experienced a sewer back-up in our basement. Their staff were very knowledgeable and offered to fix the problem immediately. Unfortunately for us, this meant digging up both the basement and the front yard, but it had to be done. If I had anything to complain about, it would be the very high cost which in hindsight probably wasn't as competitive as it could have been (now that I've had time to compare costs). Perhaps that was our issue not having taken time to compare, however we were experiencing a time sensitive situation that we really couldn't prolong. Nevertheless, the outcome was a good one and we have not have any issues since.

    Repair of leaking pipe

We called in Roto Rooter about 30 hours after taking possession of our new house. What are the odds of having a leaking pipe on your second day of home ownership? A copper pipe taking hot water away from the hot water tank spontaneously erupted in a geyser in our laundry room. One minute it was not leaking -- and the next minute it was Old Yeller! It's apparently an unusual situation, but it's the kind of thing that can't really be put off, since it meant turning off all the hot water to the house until the leak was fixed (and this was in mid-December.) Roto Rooter was able to come within an hour. The fix was done in about 5 minutes flat (the copper pipe was replaced and soddered); the young man was friendly, good-humoured, and polite, even though it was 10:30pm. I would call them again for their punctual and professional service in an emergency situation, but I do wistfully wish that emergency plumbing services weren't so expensive - but I think that is true of all plumbers, not just Roto Rooter (and of course is especially true for a light-night emergency job.)

    Clogged Pipe

Roots from an old tree grew into the drain pipe that goes out to the sewer causing a back up in my basement. I called Roto-Rooter and they came by soon after to inspect. They dug up part of the basement and replaced the old clay pipe with PVC so the roots will not grow back in. It was done the next day. For things like clogged pipes, Roto-Rooter is great. I was very satisfied.
