First time reviewer, first time homebuyer, first major renovation project.
I decided to get my deck done to utilize the space in my backyard. I researched a number of companies on this website and Royaldecks was one of many that stood out.
I phoned and spoke with Miro and from the start he was upfront, honest and very helpful. He met personally at our house and took all the measurements required, then he sat down with us and discussed ideas, materials and helped guide us as to what exactly we wanted.
I met with 2 other decking companies and after receiving quotes from all 3 I decided to choose Royaldecks and Miro based on his previous works, his attitude and his reputation. I was not let down.
Miro handled everything from start to finish, and was always prompt when replying back to e-mails and calls. He handled all the permits with the city. Everything was done by the book and in accordance with City bylaws. He made adjustments to our deck plan as we wanted and always gave us options and prices along the way.
One thing prospective customers should be aware is that things do not always go as planned. Our deck was delayed due to the city processing the permit, and also the weather. We had a very rainy start of summer and I believe that this caused a backlog in their work. On days when it is raining the work crews will not come out because their tools will get damaged. This is not something I can fault them on, but it is something to keep in mind.
When construction finally started I met with the project supervisors Steven, Pat and Chris. All 3 of them were very helpful throughout the process and always made themselves available. Construction started and went on and off, again due to the weather. You would be surprised just how much can get done in one day. The site was kept clean on a daily basis. All in all my deck was completed from start to finish in about a months time. The crew even went out of their way and helped settle a neighbour dispute and also levelled my old deck concrete support base that was initially installed by the builder.
The deck itself is beautiful, sturdy, and up to code. It is exactly what I wanted and exceeded my expectations! Royaldecks has built us something that we look forward to using for the next 25 years. On a side note I would highly recommend Zuri PVC as a decking material, it's beautiful, low maintenance and long lasting.
