    Move From Condo to House

We found Tender Touch through Homestars. Gary and JP were professional, efficient and personable during our move. They took the time to put down runners where necessary and wrapped blankets around our belongings and also the bannisters to protect them. Seeing the care which they took to reduce any damage that would occur helped put me at ease. What left the greatest impression on me was that they were hustling like crazy the entire time. Even though we were paying them by hourly rate, near the end of the move when they could have been dawdling and racking up the bill, I saw both Gary and JP pretty much sprinting to clean up the runners and blankets they had used so that they could get done quickly and stop charging us. I have extremely high standards for the people/companies that I choose to do business with. Tender Touch, Gary and JP have exceeded those expectations. We don't expect to move again, but if we do, we would definitely use Tender Touch again. I recommend them without hesitation.

1 Bedroom move from the Annex to Little Italy

Dwight and Elvis, and Tender Touch gave me the best moving experience to date. Thank you very much for such a fantastic move! My move consisted of a one bedroom to a two bedroom with another person already living there. The move itself was quick, and both gentlemen put in a really great effort. Nothing was damaged and all items were expertly handled. They constantly confirmed where things should go at the new place. These were very genuine individuals who were very professional, never complained and were very easy going; all of this through a very hot and humid day, and with the delivery address consisting of a second and third floor. I will most definitely recommend Tender Touch to friends and family for future moves!

    moving

I had been helping my cousin organize her move from a condo in the Don Mills/Sheppard area to her new apartment in Peterborough. One of my tasks was to find the best movers I could and to hire them. Homestars led me to the answer, and the answer was "Tender Touch Movers". When the big day came, I optimistically mounted my moped for the last of 24 round trips trips from the heart of the city to what I consider (HA Ha)the far reaches of civilization in the Don Mills/Sheppard area. When just south of York Mills and Yonge things went terribly wrong very quickly...Did the miscreant who switched lanes without a signal, thereby forcing me to crash land to avoid being road kill even see me? I'll never know and neither will the police who scanned traffic cameras for evidence. A long story short: with stitches, broken glasses, many cuts and scrapes and more painfully speaking the agony of broken ribs, I was released from North York General Hospital and cabbed my way to my Cuz's place, late, nervous and feeling guilty for not being there on time for the final steps. Oh, did I mention the pain? I needn't have worried about anything other than myself... Imagine! Even without my hand at the tiller, Boss Elvis and hard working Freddie and Christian had some how managed to get along without me! I collapsed into one of the last remaining chairs and watched as the guys finished up the job. Soon it was all over at this end, and a relative drove me back downtown so that I could start enjoying the special pain that comes with broken ribs, confident that the move in at the Peterborough end would go well. It did... Moped? One broken mirror. Me? Not so good; some day I may be able to cough without fainting, and perhaps even be able to lay down instead of "sleeping" sitting up at my couch. How would I have felt if Tender Touch had not been as efficient and professional as they proved to be, cannot be expressed. I was the only thing broken on this move! Special thanks to babes Maria and Erika at the office; they obviously run the whole show. In conclusion, I would highly recomend Tender Touch. And further, if you ever have a choice about whether or not to break your ribs; I vote NOT. If you ride any form of two wheeled device, remember how invisible you are; things get bad very fast! Thank you Homestars and Tender Touch.

    packing and move

Very please with service. Could have used less packing material, but everything was safe and arrived in excellent condition. All workers were very friendly, and worked efficiently. We would recommend this company to friends and family.

long-distance move from montreal to toronto

I really did my online research when I was choosing a moving company. I got at least ten different quotes and read as many reviews online as possible. Tender Touch had the best reviews so I went with them. Best decision I could have made. This move went so smoothly words cant do it justice. I had two locations to pick up from- storage locker and my family residence. I was so impressed with the professionalism and level of experience both my movers demonstrated. I felt like I was in great hands from the get go and Phil and Wayne saw to all my things as if they were their own. My mother can be more than neurotic when it comes to her home- so much so that I warned them so they didnt get offended if she was breathing down their necks- she's particular about her home. My mother instantly relaxed when she saw the level of professionalism they both exuded. When they put the runners down so as to not dirty any floors or carpets, my mother was visibly calmer. I think she was the real judge because she didnt get stressed out at all- she was actually calm. Phil is so personable, you can only hope you get him- however I'm equally confident that Tender Touch only delivers great movers. All my stuff was safely delivered on the moving date- in the morning as we had agreed. I was flexible on my moving date pick-up date which allowed for me to negotiate a bit on the price- and they did have to move the date up one day- but they called me two days in advance to let me know. Great communication between dispatcher and office as well. Great friendly customer service on the phone with Erika as well. Nothing was broken or scratched on delivery. It helps if you pack your stuff properly- but all my fragile mirrors- one which is 3.3" X 4.5" and frameless- arrived in perfect condition. Phil is excellent at making judgment calls and I am still so grateful I had such an amazing experience. Price wise- they might range on the higher side- I managed to get a flat rate because they were gonna be near montreal anyway and I was flexible on my moving date- but you do get what you pay for- they are among the best if not the best. They wrapped all my furniture in the appropriate blankets and covers. They unwrapped everything as well and took all the extra packaging with them. My living room looked lived in as soon as they walked out the door- you cant ask for better than that. Two huge thumbs up. Also- word of advice- dont be fooled when you see a mover that's on the smaller/older side- both Wayne and Wade are small framed, wiry older guys- and they were both amazing. Seeing two big brawny guys doesnt mean you're gonna have good movers. This company deserves all its accolades thus far.

    Moving

I moved in July 23, 2009 and I wanted to send a special thanks to Dimello (sp), Justin and Dwight. These guys moved me from a condo in Toronto to a stacked townhouse in Mississauga that does not have an elevator. They had to move all of my belongings up 4 flights of stairs in pouring rain and lots of humidity. Thank you so much for the tremendous job that you did. Not one item was broken (I have lots of glass items), so professional and friendly, and made what could have been a very stressful day, into one that was very easy. Dwight constantly asked me how things were, and reassured me that everything would turn out perfect - and they did. Dimello (Mike) and Justin worked like work-horses, up and down the stairs, never a complaint, very easy going. They put together all items at my request (bed, desk, etc.) to my liking. Even after the clock had stopped they were still doing extras. Guys, I want to thank you again for such a great job you did. I am very happy. Thanks again, Fawn

    Moving

Our move was from a 2 bedroom condo in downtown Toronto to a detached home in Oakville. I went on Homestars.ca to review moving companies and saw the great reviews for Tender Touch. I had never used this company before but I'm very glad that I went with my gut instinct and booked them for our move. I dealt with Erika Jackman over the phone...she was very courteous and answered all of my questions. She made sure that everything was taken care of ahead of time. John Hall promptly answered my initial email and gave me a pretty accurate estimate as to the cost of the move. I had been in contact with another recommended moving company but found their method of estimating the cost of our move to be a little confusing and also not accurate. Tender Touch uses an easy method that is very "user-friendly." On moving day, the 3-man crew arrived at our condo on-time and ready to go! The crew was very friendly and worked efficiently. Ali, the Team Leader, was patient and kind, always reassuring us that everything would be wrapped and protected in the truck. We had one large piece that had a lot of glass in it and I was worried it wouldn't make it in one piece to our destination...but when I saw how Ali and his crew wrapped it up, I knew it was going to make it! And it did! :) Nothing was damaged in our move and we are so very happy that we went with Tender Touch. I would like to thank the crew for their hard work, time and and effort. Ali, Fred, Kal, and Nick did a wonderful job in caring for our items and making our move from Toronto to Oakville a lot less stressful! Thanks again, guys! **Note: Even when one of the crew had to leave due to a family emergency, Tender Touch made sure to promptly send another member to help complete the move. :)

Moving from a house to an apartment

Ali and Dwight from Tender Touch were exceptional in moving my downsized house to a one-bedroom apartment rental. They were courteous and efficient, and did everything within the accurately estimated time. Of course, it helps that I was well-organized before Moving Day, and I had already given away half my furniture and stored half my boxes in a friend's basement. So my particular move was relatively light. Still, Ali and Dwight did a great job and I will definitely use Tender Touch in my next move in 18 months (to my new condo at the waterfront).

Move 3 bdrm Toronto semi to Burlington

Our experience with Tender Touch (TT) (TODAY! June 25th) got off on a fine footing but went horribly awry after they loaded their truck with our belongings and made their way from Toronto to Burlington. I am typing this message from the Burlington Travelodge with my 2 sons ages, 4 months and 2 years struggling to get to sleep in hotel playpens. Our stuff hasn't made it to the new house. It's sitting in the truck at a Petro Canada Station in Oakville. Rough timeline (I'm sure their trusty GPS records will tell us otherwise): 1:45pm - TT leaves for B-town with our stuff. One employee says "it takes about 2 hours to get there, right?" "No, not at all," I reply. "It's just under 1 hour." They are slated to stop at my parents' home to pick up 2 bed frames, a double mattress and approximately 6 Rubbermaid bins. They say they should be able to fit it in without having to unload at our new house first. 2:05pm - My husband and I hit the road for Burlington making a stop for baby formula at the Lakeshore and Leslie Shoppers Drug Mart * Note: we leave 20 minutes AFTER they do with a 5 minute stop enroute. Experienced poor traffic around the Ford plant in Oakville. 3:10pm - Arrive at the new house to discover the seller is still moving her crap out (Sucks because we think this means our guys (TT) will have to kill time while they wait for the driveway to clear and this will cost us unnecessary money). We go to my parents' to see how the secondary move is going. 3:45pm -- But guess what? They haven't even arrived at my parents' house yet. (2 HOURS AFTER THEY LEFT OUR PLACE) I call TT and ask for a status report. They say the truck may have been stopped at the scales but they do their best to avoid this. "Maria" says she'll look into it. 4:15pm -- We find out roughly half an hour later that they're stuck in traffic and have been instructed to take the Trafalger Rd. exit. This was peculiar in that we were a good 25 minutes behind them (and FYI: they said they would have their lunch on the road). But fine. Whatever. A bit of a wait. We're in no rush because the seller is still clearing her crap out. But wait. A few minutes later at roughly 4:30pm, Maria calls and tells us the breakline is down/broken and there's leakage. They've had to stop at the Trafalger Rd. exit and wait for a mobile mechanic. We're also told they've "stopped the clock" at this point. 6:00pm --- We get a call from Maria with more bad news. The news that really doesn't impress. The service response even more so. There is a broken part that needs replacing. It can't be replaced for 3 days. It is at this juncture that one would hope client service would be of prime importance. This is a case of lost luggage times 10. A family moving to a new city with 2 children under 2 years old. A day that began at 5am and was hoped would end at 8pm by settling/transitioning the 2 year old into his new bed in his new house, and maybe if we were lucky, a couple of unpacked boxes, including one with pizza in it. But NO. Oh NO. I'm told by Maria that we must wait until tomorrow and hope that another truck would become available to offload the contents (OUR contents) from the broken truck. She tells me they won't even have a sense of availability until noon-ish when she plans to check in with the men who did our move today (Oh yeah--they're booked for OTHER jobs tomorrow). It did not occur to Maria that an instance like this is not an act of god and therefore a "put up and shut up" scenario, but rather an incident of massive inconvenience (arguably caused by insufficient upkeep of their vehicles) that demands much more than a simple apology. Herein exists an opportunity to lessen our inconvenience and in turn, mitigate the damage their reputation could suffer by offering compensation on some modest level---starting with a hotel room perhaps?? But no. I have to go digging for this. "Um, I'll check," Maria says. 30 seconds later she says they'll reimburse us for up to $100. Thanks. So generous for a family of 4. And that's where I'll leave it. Because that's as far as we've got. The Travelodge for $134/night. Check-out of course is at 11am---an hour before we'll get the call from Maria letting us know if our stuff can even be offloaded at all. Stupidly gave them an imprint of my credit card when they arrived this morning. Stupid. Unbelievable day we just had. And it ain't over yet.

    A small move

I moved from a single bedroom to a one bedroom apartment. Everyone told me it would be a total waste of money to get movers. For a few weeks I was on the fence about hiring a moving company. After a lot of research I found Tender Touch. My advice is that no matter how big or small your move is, hiring a moving company reduces overall stress. However, it's all about finding the right movers ... some can be a nightmare. The service I received from Tender Touch was exceptional. The movers were respectful, professional, and very cautious about protecting my property. There is no doubt that I will recommend Tender Touch to friends and family. Among the various companies approved by the Canadian Association of Movers, Tender Touch was the most affordable (especially if you are moving mid-month). Customer service is great but I suggest calling them rather than emailing as I got a faster response by phone. I spoke with Maria who is so warm. She understands the stress of moving and immediately put me at ease. I read a few negative Tender Touch reviews on this site so I was a bit nervous to go with them. But I have no regrets. Thanks Maria and Tender Touch. This is a company with integrity so feel confident hiring them.
