My basement renovation was challenging. My home is 100 years old and after demolition it was obvious that there was considerably more work than Mark had anticipated when he had quoted on the job. Instead of covering up the problems over with new drywall or walking away, he put a halt to the project and met with me to go over the situation. We walked through the site together and reviewed each item and agreed that the scope of work was indeed much greater than Mark could have foreseen. We sat down and forged a new project plan and agreement and continued from there. The result is a home that is structurally and functionally better now. The basment was unusable before but now is a bright play, laundry, storage, movie area that my 3 boys have claimed as their own. Mark and his team Mark G, John, Gus and Tom are capable tradesmen who take pride in their work and care about their customers. I highly recommend this team of professionals. This was the first renovation we planned and we couldn't have asked for a better result. Mark came to our house with a binder full of pictures of previous bathroom renovations he had done, recommendations from other clients, insurance and licence information. He made us feel very comfortable and answered all of our questions to our complete satisfaction. He went over the bathroom thoroughly and gave us his honest opinion of what could and could not be done due to the size of the space. He got back to us with a quote within a couple of days and we scheduled a start date. Due to some unforeseen delays with the renovation before ours, we ended up pushing the start date back a few weeks however, we had told Mark that we did not have a set schedule so the delay was not a problem for us. Once the work began Mark updated us almost daily about the progress and every day throughout we came home to a clean and tidy work area. He initially said it would take two weeks to complete however, the bathtub and sink we chose were about a 1/4 inch too big for the area once the new walls were put up, which was no one's fault as these old houses were not built to exact specifications. The renovation ended up taking five weeks but I have never heard of any renovation being on time so we were prepared from the onset for delays. The finished bathroom was outstanding and we have had nothing but compliments from our friends and family on the design and quality of the work. We found Mark to be honest and up front with us on every issue. After completion there were a couple of minor things such as a couple of areas that needed more caulking and a slightly shaky toilet (which was actually due to the uneven slate floor we chose) that we called Mark about. He and John came over and fixed the problems with no questions asked and at no extra charge. He never asked for more money at any time and the final bill was what was quoted to us. I'd say that the quote was on the higher end of the spectrum but Mark and his entire team were totally professional from beginning to end and for a first renovation, particularly when you see some of the horror stories on TV these days, we had nothing but confidence and peace of mind throughout the entire process. I would highly recommend Total Renovations for any home renovation.

In 2003 we had total renovations renovate our bathroom. WE were told it would take three weeks , it took 6 weeks. We had many days when there was no one at our job site. As soon as the cold weather hit our pipes and drain in our bathtub froze, I called and was told to put antifeeze in the drain and that was the only solution to the problem offered. There were a number of other issues during the renovatuion but . There were no permits for this renovations and I have since found that there should have been. When we had the quote I believed I was getting a first rate and knowledgable contractor, I was wrong.

Mark has done several jobs for our parish church and buildings ranging from repairing stained glass windows, to building radiator covers, to repairing and staining solid oak doors, to re-roofing flat roofs. All the sub-contractors Mark works with are true professionals who care about their trade and it shows in their attention to detail and respect for the customer.

I called on the very busy Mark to help me replace an exterior door that was there since the house was built. He was kind enough to call me back and forward me to his supplier. The door had to be special ordered, so I did have to wait for a while before it could be installed. Luckily (for me and the installation team) the warm weather held and Mark and his team (another Mark and Amin) came in the morning and finished the job by the early afternoon. They even noticed an area of concern (a part of the external wall was cracking) and made a quick effort to seal it up as best they could. Even though I'll still make my variety of phone calls and get a few quotes on future projects, Mark is promised that he will definitely be one of the 1st people I'll call. On another level, Mark is friendly, confident, and straight forward. Great work, guys.

We had the Total Renovations team in last summer (2008) to make some changes to our main floor and basement. The project came in on time and on budget. The team was very easy to deal with - excellent craftsmenship, very professional, and a pleasure to work with. We would hire them again without hesitation.

The first time I did a renovation it was a disaster but I was working /w a contractor at a very low price thinking I'd be saving money. As it turned out, not only did I spend more and there was a delay in completion. Working with these guys changed my mind about contract work, as they provide prompt services, courteous and on time.

We were very impressed with the total renovation project. We would definately recommend them to any one. Great job overall. Was impressed with their service and the pricing was fair.

I really like their professionalism. Mark, the owner, is very personable and thorough. His team do a great job and their attention to detail is bar none - I set a high standard and they meet it.
