    Pesticide and Weed Removal

I have always been using Weed Man for my pesticide and weed removal for my front lawn and back yard. They usually come during the day while I'm at work so I don't see what they do, but I know that I can rely on them to get the job done and bill me appropriately and competitively.

    Answer from pro:

Thank you for taking the time to let us know of the great service you have received from my office. We look forward to continuing this high standard of service with you for many years to come. Again thank you from your Weed Man team Steve Stronge Customer Service Manager

    Weedman

I discontinued the Weedman's service when the pesticide ban went into place quite a few year's ago. In the meantime, I attempted to do the lawn myself. Unfortunately, the weeds went crazy and by the end of the summer, we had little green grass...much of the grass was brown. We suspected we had a chinch bug problem but didn't quite know what to do. I decided to give Weedman another try with their newer products. It's now the end of September and I really can't believe how far things have come along. I wasn't expecting a miracle, but honestly, my expectations have been exceeded. My lawn is all green with the exception of a few small spots that I've had to reseed as the chinch bugs started to do their damage, but most of the lawn actually bounced back after Weedman applied their arctic kelp summer chinch bug treatment. I still had some weeds growing back over the summer and into September, but they've just sprayed for the weeds now and they are dying off andd disappearing. I'm much more impressed than I expected, and I am confident now that I've overseeded the lawn this fall that next spring my lawn will be in amazing shape. I do have a couple of service issues to mention to Weedman that I hope they will address, e.g. calling the day before they come as they have forgotton on most occasions and a couple of other minor things but the quality of their product has made up for their small service downfalls. UPDATE: Within 24 hours of dropping my pre-payment for 2014 along with letter with customer service issues in the mailbox, Steve Stronge, customer service manager, left a message on my answering machine addressing each issue and how it was to be handled. I am a stickler for good customer service and I have to say that I was very impressed with the speedy response and I am hopeful the issues will be resolved next year. I'll keep you posted in 2014!

    Answer from pro:

    Weeds NOT be gone!

Hired weedman. Didn't work. Despite having several reapplications, My vegetable garden died....but not the weeds. They do not offer refunds and would not escalate my issue outside of the "customer service" Supervisor. I had to insist and got a first name only of the assistant manager....and he has to call me!...doubt I'll get a phone call back. Won't be using them again...EVER!!!

    Answer from pro:

Oliver my assistant Manager spoke to you this morning and he has taken over all of your account concerns and weed issues. Oliver will be doing everything he can to improve your lawn results and your opinion of our services in your first year with us. Oliver will be following up again next week after we complete your next weed control application and we will also have a manager on your lawn to advise on the results.

    Lawn Fertilizer and Weed Control

I have used Weed Man for a number of years but over the past 3 years, this company has become a farce. They stand behind the "continuous service" caption that is only there to help them bill clients. I too cancelled the service at end of last year but they came in again this year to apply fertilizer and invoiced me. After much haggling, i paid them half of the invoice and they said they would apply a free weed control/fertilizer and I can then cancel the whole contract. Well, they issued the invoice again for a service that was supposed to be free! I refused to pay and told them to take me to court. Now, they are hassling me with robo-calls. My wife got irritated and told me to pay and get rid of them. I have paid them today to get rid of the headache but want others to be aware of the dishonesty of Weed Man.

    Answer from pro:

I am sorry that you feel this way as you have been a long time customer with Weed Man. The few phone calls into our office that you have made over the last 3 years, none of these above issues were ever brought to our attention. We have done Continuous Service on your property for 4 years and every year you have prepaid after the services started. The first contact we had regarding your 2013 service program was on May 21 2013 and that was to cancel your program which we did as per your request. At no time prior to this was there every any contact with our office by email, phone or fax to cancel your account so we continued like we always have. To suggest that we have done anything dishonest with your account could not be farther from the truth. We continuously treated your lawn which we have done for 4 years and because of this you were given priority pricing and services for many years. After speaking to Brian one of my supervisors on June 12th 2013 he offered to split the fertilizer price and to continue with the program for the season and he would also give you your first weed control service at no charge. Brian emailed you the new contract that day itemizing each service and its cost for the rest of the season; he also removed you from continuous service forever. As you stated above that you could cancel after the free application was done but again we did not receive a call. The free weed control was completed on June 20 and the next scheduled services were completed on July 4th and that service had a charge to it. We received a call again to cancel the services which we did on July 5th 2013. If there is anything else I can do please do not hesitate in contacting me at 416-269-8333. Lawn Maintenance

We used Weedman for 3 years and over the course of that time the health of our Lawn deteriorated to the point we had to do a complete overseeding in 2013. To add insult to injury when they contacted us NUMEROUS times over the winter asking us to sign up we told them we do not want their service anymore. Regardless of this verbal cancellation they showed up in the spring and then sent us an invoice for over $50. When I contacted them they basically said to bad pay it or we will send your non payment to credit rating agencies. When I asked for a Manager they refused and said does not matter if you told the sales person you wanted to cancel you had to call customer service. DO NOT USE THEM. Their service is terrible and they make it very difficult to cancel.

    Answer from pro:

I am very concerned about your comments as being one of my customers since 2005 and missing only 1 full season with us in 2010 your lawn should be in great shape. I looked into your account and noticed a consistent problem with Chinch bugs every year in July in which we put down at no charge service that helps prevent them from feeding. Our sales team never contacted you for the 2013 season as it was your second year under continuous service and the program was already scheduled for the upcoming season. We were unaware of this complete dissatisfaction of our services and take this very seriously. We are concerned about any possible dissatisfaction with our service and will do everything we can when notified to resolve that concern. The first contact we had was an inbound call into my office on April 30 2013; we cancelled the account as per your request. Very few times had we received any correspondence in the past 3 years about service issues of any kind and when we did we reacted immediately, weather it was a reapplication of a service or a cancellation of an Indi dual service it was taken care of immediately. I am sorry to lose you as a customer and if there is something I can do I will try my best to change your perspective of my office. Steve Stronge Customer Service Manager

Lawn Care - First Time Service- VERY DISSAPPOINTED

First Impression is a Last Impression. I decided this year to let the professionals do our lawn for us so i can have nice looking grass so i can sell my house this year. I made TERRIBLE MISTAKE by hiring them. There was a Huge Mistake made by their sales rep on type of service i ordered. I ordered the 2013 Lawn Care Program and confirmed all the details with sales rep over the phone which they have a recording as well, later that day (after 4 hours)they called back and changed my order and spoke to my mother who barely speaks English and confirmed a totally different order with her stating that I wanted this order which is completely BIAS. In that call sales rep she also stated that she is going to email us the confirmation which never happened. I spoke to their customer service floor manager Marchel (ID 35) today who accepted their mistake but she still wants me to pay extra $71.56 for for the service which i didn't order. I told her several times why should i pay for someone else mistake and for the service which i didn't even order. I asked the floor manager as well as i am not happy with the resolution and would like to speak with someone higher, I have asked her that i expect a call from their customer service manager "Steve" today so i can resolve this with him. Weed Man really need to put themselves in customer shoes and decide what is right for the customer. Its not matter of Extra $71 for the service which i didn't order. Its the Matter of ETHICS.

    Answer from pro:

Marchel reviewed your account and played the recording for you of your mother ordering vegetation control only for the property and the price and we emailed the confirmation letter the next business day. We did speak to you prior to speaking to your mother that day and the closing sale was incomplete and they called back that day to confirm and record the sale. We completed these services over 2 months and never once received any correspondence about there being any issues about the sale. We do put ourselves in our customer’s shoes as I have been a customer of Weed Man for 15 years now and I have worked here for 14. The first contact we had stating any concerns was after we had started calling from our accounts receivable office and all of the services had been completed. In any company if there is a discrepancy with a bill you have 30 days to contact that company to issue a concern and in doing so we could of rectified that complaint immediately. The total outstanding bill was over $200 and Marchel understood your concern and offered to reduce the balance to $71.56 and start up the mid season program of fertilizer and weed control at the reduce rate. If you would like to revise your complaint and contact me today we can resolve both of our concerns immediately and take care of your property. Steve Stronge 416-269-8333 Customer Service Manager

    Weed Service

I have had Weedman for the last 4 seasons. For the last 2 years I cancelled. Why you ask? The Weeds have not gone. I do not see any change in my lawn. I just find the service a waste of time and the constant harassing phone calls for grub control..aeration etc...drive me insane. I was advised when I did re-sign this season, to ask for a 2nd application each time after my first.....so I would get more "Bang for my Buck" but even then, trying to get a 2nd application is difficult. Look, this company is in the Business of Weed control. Do I think they do a good job? No. Does their product work? No. Do they harrass you with calls and make it difficult to leave their service? Yes. Truth is, their product doesnt really work very well and their tactics are annoying.

    Answer from pro:

    Weed control

I don't really see a difference in my lawn after treatment. I think I have 'convinced' myself that there are less weeds, only because we paid for the treatment! They did show up at the time they indicated and were professional to deal with on the phone.

    Answer from pro:

I thank you for the comment about our professionalism as we always strive to take care of our customers. I also thank you for your candid comment about your weed concerns. Please contact my office as I am not able to locate your account and we will take care of this issue immediately. Thank you for your time Steve Stronge Customer Service Manager

    Weed Control

My husband and I were convinced by one of Weed Man's representatives earlier this year to order their Spring-Fall service for managing our lawn. We were told "if you see 1 dandelion, give us a call and we'll send someone out immediately to take care of it". I know the old saying that if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is but we decided to give Weed Man a try. One month ago, Weed Man came by to fertilize our lawn. The timing was right for this but the grass had just started to grow so very few weeds had appeared at that point. A week later, the lawn was covered in dandelions and other weeds (the fertilizer doing a great job of helping them to grow) but we were confident that they would have someone here to take care of them within a week or 2 so we didn't call immediately. 2 weeks later, no one had come and so my husband phoned to find out what was going on and to communicate that we had a problem with weeds on our lawn. We were told that someone would be here "this week". No one came. A week and a half later, my husband called again and was told that no one had been by because of the weather but that someone would come by "next week". given that we had been staring at an ugly lawn full of weeds and dandelions for a MONTH at this point, that answer was not acceptable to me and so I sent an e-mail expressing disappointment and telling them they needed to have someone here the next day to take care of it. The next day, we had a voice mail from Weed Man saying someone would be here the next day which was a Saturday (they even said the date 3 times to make sure we knew they were "committed" to having someone here on the Saturday) to take care of our weeds. No one came and by the time we had given up hope of someone actually coming (~4pm), their office was already closed for the day when I called. In past years, we have not had nearly as many weeds and we have taken care of them ourselves with a little hard work but this year, we wanted to focus on other aspects of our garden and because we had paid so much for Weed Man, on principle, we waited for them to step up. There have been PLENTY of nice days during the past month when they could have come to take care of it. Saying that the weather is the reason no one has been here was ridiculous and frankly, insulting. The only small bit of satisfaction we have gotten is from making sure that the Weed Man sign that was proudly left there last month when they came by with the fertilizer treatment has remained front and centre on our weed filled lawn ever since. All of our neighbours have stopped by to comment on how "impressed" they are with our Weed Man lawn. So, in summary, DO NOT order Weed Man - it's a HUGE waste of money.

    Answer from pro:

I do apologize for the delay on your first spring weed control treatment and the recent error that was made as the floor supervisor who contacted you promissing the service would be completed on Saturday was correct. A very simple administration error that was made in my other office stopped this service from being completed and I greatly apologize for this error. Marchel informed me about this cocnern when she received another email from you today and spoke to your husband about this error at lenght today when he returned her phone call. Marchel brought this account information to me and I discussed this concern at lenght throughout my office as I too was dissappointed and surprised about this issue. Today we offered your husband a direct apologie and an offer to help rectify this problem. The offer would be to apply the spring weed control today in the late afternoon, second we would do a free aeration (valued at almost $90) to help compensate. Weather has been a factor with our weed control service and as of today we are about 7 days behind schedule for completing our spring weed controls. This is a fact but the delay in treating your lawn to this extent is our fault and again I do apologize. Steve Stronge Customer Service Manager
